What was the first song about cars?
sjordan2 replied to Brett Barrow's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I thought the question was about the FIRST car song. Seems like that's been answered, unless someone knows a song before 1901. -
What was the first song about cars?

Not exactly a car, is it? Plus, the song only dates to 1943. I'm from Oklahoma and I know this stuff. -
1925 Model T Ford Coupe Interior Pics Needed
sjordan2 replied to Krazy Rick's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I don't know how the interior of this 1923 4-door would differ in detail, though Art could answer. But some of the interior details here may be of use. http://www.hemmings.com/hcc/stories/2013/07/01/hmn_drivable_dreams1.html -
As Foxer mentioned, just bookmark your thread and keep coming back to it in your bookmark menu. Bookmark is the answer.

No you wouldn't. Originally Renwal, it's probably the worst, most inaccurate junk ever to be sold under the Revell label. The 275 GTB is an awesome classic that cries out for a new large-scale tool.

Still can't get the window trim right!
sjordan2 replied to Raguvian's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
It appears this is a Mazda Miata, which seems to have both a black seal on the outside of the glass and a black-painted surround on the inside of the glass. There are some good suggestions on this page, and here's another tutorial: http://www.italianhorses.net/Tutorials/Window%20Masks/masks.htm -
Great job, and especially nice work on painting the very thin chrome on the hood/nose/sides. I've got this kit in the stash; they say the roll-up windows are too large and a bear to fit properly, and I see you've wisely omitted them.

Never a fan of the brickmobile Charger, but I think their gradual changes have made big improvements. Now the 707-hp 2015 Charger Hellcat SRT lays claim to being the fastest production sedan on earth. http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/cars/2014/08/13/dodge-charger-hellcat/14007391/

One of the best builds I have ever seen of the coolest Ferrari in history. Just superb! On another note, I would say that there are better wire wheel alternatives.

Does Rolls-Royce have a museum?

True, I completely agree ! Based on this thread, this 300SL kit is not so much fun to build... lots and lots of errors to fix :/ I see you are a true expert in the 300SL Gullwing topic - when and where did your passion begin =) ?? Nice to see & read your comments Jordan! Great tips all the way. The original idea was, after about a 30-year layoff, to build a model to relieve work stress. I went to HobbyTown USA several years ago to get craft supplies for my daughter's school project, and I saw a 1/16 Minicraft kit of my all-time favorite car, the Gullwing. Things just mushroomed from there. So far, I'm a collector and researcher, not yet a builder of this stuff. I've amassed a ton of reference books, original 300 SL parts and literature, manuals, brochures, videos, just about every kit version, etc. Which led to more of the same kind of mania regarding other classic cars and associated kits from 1/16 to 1/8 (not including Pocher, then into a few 1/24-25 cars that appealed to me).

Contact forum member Hawk312 (David Eicherly). He's built several stunning versions, including magazine cover story models. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/?showtopic=13157

For an average to experienced builder, I think it's great. But I don't think this is up to your usual standard, based on your always superb work in the past. Some rough-looking, rippled foil work, and a bit of orange peel on the black paint. I get the feeling this may have been rushed a bit.

Is that engine color metallic? If so, it's waaayyy off. But I don't know what you have in mind.

If you're interested in a Pocher Rolls or Mercedes but not yet ready to spend the money, find a 1/16 kit, which is plenty large and half the size of Pocher [Mercedes 540K from Entex or Academy/Minicraft, or Revell Phantom II Continental]. These are equivalent cars to Pocher except for the amazing detail, and they're regularly available on eBay at reasonable prices -- practice on one of them for research and detail. Then decide if you want to splurge on a Pocher. The Alfas would have to be practiced on from 1:18 Bburago diecasts. To see what you're getting into, you can download free Pocher instructions here, which are also helpful as reference for building smaller scale versions: http://www.modelmotorcars.com/html/useful_info/manuals/manuals_home.htm In any case, you need to do your research and detective work before you attempt any of them. I will be glad to supply reference.

Small parts finish after airbrush
sjordan2 replied to blazeryz's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Can you show the parts you're talking about? Seems to me that there's a point where airbrushing is unsuitable and paintbrush or pen might work better. -
California does not require painted crosswalk lines.

Pedestrian right-of-way can vary by state or community. In California, pedestrians have the right-of-way in most cases (in fact, I've encountered some who just walk out when they see you coming, without waiting, and dare you not to stop for them). http://apps.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/hdbk/right_of_way.htm "Remember, if a pedestrian makes eye contact with you, he or she is ready to cross the street. Yield to the pedestrian." etc.
