  1. The explanation I got years ago was the extras were for the promo version AMT did for Ford. The Tail lights at that time had small pins that could be heat sealed inside the body and trap the red lens. They were a bit fragile and easy to break and loose. The headlight was heat sealed too and seems they were dropped or lost easily....that's the story I was told anyway! Wish they had returned it to 1966 spec 100%....but this is OK.
  2. Living in NC from Dec 1969 to 2002, meeting my wife there and my kids all born there......you'd think I would have a good memory of NC.......WRONG!!! I won't waste Greg's bandwidth here to explain....if by chance you want to know.....I'll inform offline....but all I can say is 'Thank God and Greyhound I'm gone!!!"
  3. I had plans on going.......then got a FOUR MONTH JURY DUTY notice in the mail. Anyone else have jury duty this long??? I really needed to go....was going to vendor....but now jury duty #2 in 5 years....both 4 months!!! I think this is a bit long......in NC it was one week every 5-6 years.
  4. 1960's Whittier CA here!!! The local The non chain drug store up the street had a Testors paint rack and always 30-40 models in stock. I can recall getting a note from my mom to allow me to buy a tube of Testors glue!!! And a hardware store is where I made the best purchase ever. I found a old hardware store in the NC mountains around 1977 that was stuck in 1966.....models from 1962 to 1966 ....about 50 of them. Took me 3 visits to get them all but I did. Ended up selling most of them....and buying my 1/1 scale 1973 Javelin so it was a good deal for sure!
  5. If you are as old as me.....you remember when every drug, grocery and even 7-11 carried model car kits.
  6. IMHO these do not compare with the slick set. Much higher cost and lower count per package....or at least how many models it will supply. I'm passing....
  7. I started one somewhat like that....need to finish someday.......
  8. a photoshoped car would look better.....that is for real....sadly....
  9. ME TOO!!! When Tom got on national TV and blasted kids and parents of kids with learning disabilities I vowed to never see another of his films. My son had learning disabilities which with professional help he overcame and is now very successful person. If you don't know what I am talking about look on YouTube....it's all there. I am unable to ignore prejudice like this....if he had said the same thing about a specific race he'd be dead now. And the film doing $14M for a major film seems like a lot think the same way.
  10. Came out GREAT!! I have the kit too.......maybe someday.......congrats!
  11. Bill and I were set up as vendors at the IPMS Nats in 2009. Bill was manning the Revell booth I was helping run my brother in laws booth. I had been working with Bill on some projects at Revell and both of us into trains and road racers....we got to spend some time just talking. I will miss Bill. God bless his friends and family...prayers to all during this time.
  12. MCW does a NASCAR resin 77-78 Thunderbird. And as Cup cars of this era are very close to stock...start with that. Add a chassis from a JoHan or AMT 1972 NASCAR Gran Torino stock car kit and all you will need to build is an interior. I have one part finished but stalled for a while now. The Lindberg 1/32 is junk....way off in all details....I know I have it. You may be able to source a few interior parts from a Model King AMT 71 Bird....they are still out there.....contact MK if you need one.
  13. GREAT work! The shorty tanker is the perfect fit for the Dodge.
  14. Not to break rules....but I know where you can get the Flock 300 for $25.......$40 is way over MSRP. Contact me if you need one.
  15. Primer being flat is able to cover things the gloss can't ....sounds like there was something on the body like mold release....
  16. Another 'yes and no'........... MPC was never a subsidiary of AMT. Until both brands were brought under the RC2 Ertl company in the 1990's then they were 'owned by the same company'. In the 1960's then start up MPC did buy a few tools from AMT as MPC was started by an ex-AMT employee.
  17. I WANT that road roller!!!! I can see a motor out of SCool Bus sitting in it!!!
  18. Revell kit....mold is worn OUT!!!
  19. TWO thumbs WAY up!
  20. Well....how about trackside pics??? There are lots of cool stuff from my trip from WV to LA last May. Trains, cars, planes and buildings famous and not. Check out 3000 miles on Amtrak at link below. Thanks http://www.currtail.com/catrip
  21. Tell Q hello for me!!!
  22. Nice job on a good little kit. I have built a number of these....a few in NASCAR trim. This one is a model of a car a buddy bought after he saved all his money through HS and bought as soon as we graduated.
  23. Still looks pretty good....
  24. Well.....Dad was the Valvoline racing rep in So Cal for years......I like Thunderbirds and I like Mark....What's not to like!!!!! GREAT craftsmanship!
