  1. My first new car was a 1978 Fairmont I bought from NASCAR driver Ron Grana while he worked at Young Ford in Charlotte. It was all of $3100 NEW!!! I'd love to get one of htose bodies too.....are they available??
  2. 10,000 made...NONE recalled....we sold the 2 cases we ordered at the hobby shop I worked at then. Error box....worth about $12-15 each today.....
  3. What year??? For a 72-75 the Montego shared glass and components with the Gran Torino. I built a NASCAR 73 Montego out of a 73 Cougar and 72 Gran Torino. For a 70-71 Montego start with the Model King NASCAR Mercury and Revell 71 Torino and lots of work!
  4. 1/25 scale Ford SOHC motor for a Showrod project....on hold right now...... Box stock Moebius Hudson Hornet motor..... That covers both ends of the spectrum!!!
  5. Almost looks like my 1978 Ford Fairmont I owned!!! Always wanted a model on it!
  6. Looks good! I love movie cars!!!
  7. Does anyone know what the deal is with green Routmasters??? I'm by far no expert but are they a different year, place etc? This is a Sun 1/24th model I got on close out for $40!!!
  8. That Plasticville station never looked so good!!!! You could be a great model railroader!
  9. Funny you say that!!! My project right now is a B-17G 1/48 that I have added electric motors to spin the props! This bus is on a scale bigger than the B-36 I built! (complex wise)
  10. I got one from Europe. It looks like a GREAT kit but it is the most intimidating kit I have ever bought and I've bought a bunch. The reason is the way it is built. You build the interior as a core then wrap the body around it. There is NO way to paint the body as a whole....so it will take some skill to assemble.....ery different.
  11. I got my kit today....I had ordered it from a buddy....had I known it was the old Imia kit and was about half the cost of the bus I'd never gotten it. I had sold my Imia version years ago and had forgotten how .......'simple' the kit is. NO interior side panels, two piece engine, funky detail on chassis......RoG should be ashamed to charge what they are for this.....It's a $20 kit MAX!!!
  12. I'd not say a nightmare.......not a good choice for a factory stock build....but a decent NASCAR Racer can be built. And since the NASCAR guys molded in the nose cone it makes a better race car. The RM Daytona requires MAJOR surgery to fit race wheels and tires under it. A ton less work with the AMT/MPC kit warts and all.
  13. The Monogram, now RM, 69 GTO is a decent kit. Builds without any issues, looks correct to me. It is from the Monogram 1/24 scale, somewhat simplified era....but once built it looks good.
  14. Not really a lot of choice out there. The ultimate Superbird is the hard to get JoHan body with a AMT 69 Roadrunner chassis. I like the RM Superbird but it's 1/24 and as stated only the 'Petty' version has the 'Birds'. Stock Daytona....agian only one real choice...RM kit. AMT kit is a chopped up version of the MPC kit which was never issued in stock trim. It makes a OK start for a race car....but that's about it. Two movie Plymouths.....both RM kits....
  15. I gone to two in Stauton a few times....they were decent.
  16. For the record mine did a few times. My Jeep Compass, same platform as your Dodge, was bought new, treated like gold, 100% factory maintenance and it still had major and minor issues. I was a Mopar guy. All the way back to AMC's with my Dad to Neon's, Caravan's, T&C, Concorde, 3 PT's etc etc. But after 3 gas cap failures, annoying only, temp sensor falls out and is ground away on the highway, again annoying, and a number of other minor issue that for the most part did not strand the vehicle but caused delay and cash. But the final straw was BOTH rear hub assemblies failing on a trip at 60,000 miles 'for no obvious reason' per the dealer service dept. The Jeep, Concorde and 2 PT's were all gone in 2 years. And I have a lot of friends around the Columbus Ohio area making a good living building 'them furrin' cars at Honda.....for shipment to Japan and all over the world. It's hard to argue the us vs them but easy quality vs iffy builds. BTW....I really loved my Jeep......but it's was like a bad relationship......something had to go.....
  17. I have a final test shot of the 300.....and while I love the Hudson.....the 300 might be even better!!!
  18. I have no inside info on this kit or whats down the road. But look at what R2 has been doing. Take the 1/16 scale Dodge kit. When last issued by MPC it was the Duke's kit. R2 re-issues it pretty much like the last MPC issue. R2 then back dates the kit to the 1973 Dodge Charger street machine kit. Now that this kit has been produced it is going through a re-tool back to the original kit the Petty NASCAR Charger kit. So lets hope that they may use this same plan on this, or other, kits....getting income from reissues to pay for mild re-tooling and another re-issue.
  19. It's pronounced great paint and kits!
  20. Owning two real AMC's down from five....I should build for this thread.....but I have finished two AMC's within the last month so they kinda count. First is Booth's Gremlin P/S. Box stock other than seats from parts box. Tamiya paint and Penngwen decals. Next was a Matador NASCAR racer of Jocko Mcj......I can't spell the rest of his name!!! AMT kit which I added correct roll cage, window straps and some other details. Testors Inca Gold and Testors Blue with Penngwen decals. I have one more AMC on the bench now another Matador of Bobby Allison. Love them AMC's
  21. FYI the flat base model 1971-73 Mustang hood is found in the JoHan Mustang funny car kit. The hood is molded to the body but is easy to scribe along mold line to free it. It then fits the AMT and MPC bodies well. I used this kit you have to build a Max Falcon....I'll try and get some pics today and post. BTW...the dash instruments are on the chrome tree as a 'pod' that was from the road race version of the Mustang kit from years ago.
  22. Right...it's called burglary no matter who they are.......
  23. Last month or so Advance in WV had buy one get one free....good deal!!! I really like the paints.....2nd only to Tamiya. This is Dupli-color gray primer with GM Dark Blue.
  24. While that MB is worth millions either way there are millions more cars being treated the same way. I am a AMC fan. Currently own 2 down from 5. I know of 3 very desirable AMC's within one mile of my house that the owners have the same opinion.... not for sale.....gonna fix it some day. That day will never come as we all know. All three cars are very restorable now... but a few more WV winters they will be lost forever. So while the state of this high dollar MB is sad.....there are thousands of classic cars suffering the same fate.....and while I could not restore the MB....I could save a Rebel Machine.
  25. I'm going to build a original Mini Copper to display with my London Bus. And I even know most of the Routemasters are gone but it's an icon.....like saying we should not make 57 Chevy kits as they've been gone for years too.
