  1. Finished just in time....Penske goes to FORD in 2013.......
  2. Just FYI here is the engine bay in my 1/1 66 2+2 under restoration.......might help some.
  3. In my mind and understanding of the cars today it makes perfect sense. Juan gets a vibration because a hunk of gear breaks off a cluster....the 6000 rpm of the shaft will vibrate like crazy. Chunk of gear gets sucked up into the cluster locking it up along with the rear axle. Watch the video both rear wheels are locked tight. The rear end locked forces down the the front of the car causing the headers to rub pavement....sparks. All in all I don't think they will ever prove what happened. Juan was following the rules that allow him to 'catch the field' and staying down low as possible. If anything NASCAR needs to look at equipment on the track during green or yellow flags. No jet dryer on the track and Juan's intact but broken car is towed from the track worse case.
  4. Supply and demand....simple as that. As a kid growing up in So Cal in the 60's all the guys in our group built models. But so many of them ended up being blown up, set afire and played with outside never to be seen again......didn't leave many for those of us wanting them again 40 years later. I know for a fact we destroyed a bunch of high dollar (today) promos with firecrackers and gasoline!
  5. Why is that not possible??? I,ve worked on those Ford Top Loader 4 sp trans......the NASCAR guys run straight cut gears and super tight tolerances. The smallest chunk of gear breaks off, not hard when they don't use the clutch to shift, and it gets sucked up into the gear cluster it WILL lock up on you. I think 99% of the folks missed on this one. This could have been a true mega tragedy with 2 or more folks killed live on TV. No one hurt, nothing loss than can't be replaced....at the end of the day (night?) all is good. I am not a big Juan fan....but I respect what he has done. When Johnson, Gordon, Kahne, Biffel etc etc win the Indy 500 and the Monaco F1 race and NASCAR races.....let me know
  6. That's a resin kit I produced and mastered. If you want info contact me off board.
  7. Looks great! I did not know the Tamiya kit was a full detail kit.....thought it was another curbside. I may get one to display with my IMSA version.......
  8. Looks like we will be there....9 hour drive but looking forward to the event (not the drive!!) We will be set up in the vendor room come see us!
  9. You'll find my name on many Model King boxes and decal sheets. I am blessed to get to help out on Moebius kits at different levels...and Sean S. that posts here does most of the Moebius model car boxes too. Earn a living?? I know the handful of folks that do....but there are many more 'workers' on the fringe.....the plastic model biz is no GM....a few very small companies.
  10. Here are mine...... Not an EXACT replica....close enough...... The Nissan with more correct wheels than the kit had...... The Mitsu that was not really like the movie car so I freelanced it..... I re-worked this Monte after I finished it....I had it way to high in the rear....looks better now...need new pics I have a number more to build.....I have the right Mitsu kit, Charger etc.....
  11. What's the issue with Fotki??? I've never had any problems. Photobucket and many others are SLOW to load for me........
  12. The Sci Fi guys say the Speeder is 1/14 scale....but the figures are closer to 1/24 scale. It's about as big as a 1970's era American sedan so it is big....more like 1/20 maybe....but even Lucas; folks can't agree on how big the 'real' one is.
  13. Well done!! Accurate Miniatures planned on doing that car at one time. I did research and the decal artwork for the kit....but AM had issues and folded before it happened.
  14. Great work!!! Shows R2 should tool up a Dodge, Ford and Toy!!
  15. As much flack R2 caught over the Gremlin box size it may be the first and last standard kit in that box size. They were hard to ship and as we have less LHS many of them get shipped today rather than picked up at a hobby shop,
  16. My first new car was a 1978 Fairmont I bought from NASCAR driver Ron Grana while he worked at Young Ford in Charlotte. It was all of $3100 NEW!!! I'd love to get one of htose bodies too.....are they available??
  17. 10,000 made...NONE recalled....we sold the 2 cases we ordered at the hobby shop I worked at then. Error box....worth about $12-15 each today.....
  18. What year??? For a 72-75 the Montego shared glass and components with the Gran Torino. I built a NASCAR 73 Montego out of a 73 Cougar and 72 Gran Torino. For a 70-71 Montego start with the Model King NASCAR Mercury and Revell 71 Torino and lots of work!
  19. 1/25 scale Ford SOHC motor for a Showrod project....on hold right now...... Box stock Moebius Hudson Hornet motor..... That covers both ends of the spectrum!!!
  20. Almost looks like my 1978 Ford Fairmont I owned!!! Always wanted a model on it!
  21. Looks good! I love movie cars!!!
  22. Does anyone know what the deal is with green Routmasters??? I'm by far no expert but are they a different year, place etc? This is a Sun 1/24th model I got on close out for $40!!!
  23. That Plasticville station never looked so good!!!! You could be a great model railroader!
  24. Funny you say that!!! My project right now is a B-17G 1/48 that I have added electric motors to spin the props! This bus is on a scale bigger than the B-36 I built! (complex wise)
  25. I got one from Europe. It looks like a GREAT kit but it is the most intimidating kit I have ever bought and I've bought a bunch. The reason is the way it is built. You build the interior as a core then wrap the body around it. There is NO way to paint the body as a whole....so it will take some skill to assemble.....ery different.
