  1. Hey .. the grille is a '68 Cornet ! Just my 2 centavos .. Thanx ..
  2. AH .. "Hey Red .. he Does Exist !" I have but questions . Thanx ..
  3. Did you ever freshly wash a set of Redlines with Whestlie's White Wall Tire Cleaner ? Not too red for me .. I still seek FX70 X14 Redlines / Blue Lines . These Modelhaus are not if I have the number right .. Thanx ..
  4. I amm for sure in on a '79 T-bird . I'll have to exercise much plastic Surgery to amke the string of '77-'79 MY's . I owned a '78 . I will build a tribute of the Car I kept the longest . Put more than 142 K myself out of the 180+ it had when I had to part with it . KICK ! Really ?? A '71 Super Vega 454 ? Did they ever make ? These fell out of the places that made them already rusted .. Sure I might be convinced I need a Vega in my Collection . Alas I build Factory Stock ........ where is a 454 Vega not Phantom ........ I've rode in a couple of Pinto's with 500 + HP 351 Windsors . Not factory built , Authorized , Sold at FoMoCo Dealerships , Warranted , wink -wink - nod - nod or in any Earthly way even considered . To plunk anything with more weight on the front end than what Pintos come with opens Litigious Liabilities . . Nuff said ?? Lookie at GM now as then I suppose . If you insist 454 Vegas had this was Factory Inspired or Implemented ... I guess this is so . Thanx ..
  5. At the time this was posted , I had this same truck featured in a Magazine I'm subscribed to . I just could not let myself win by cheating , IMHO . Thanx Harry ..
  6. I was wrong about the Inception of the first Dodge Automobile . Budd had introduced the concept in 1912 . The Very first Dodge had all Steel body in the 1914 MY instead of the wrongly noted '13 from me . The Dodge Brothers started in Automobile Business making Engines for ransom E Olds . Moved to transmissions for Olds . Engines , Transmissions and differentials for Henry . Dodge was the second largest selling nameplate in the USA up until 1920 . I stand corrected . I must add here once again ; up to the 1985 MY the 85 Safety Improvements to Car , GM made one contribution . The Collapsible Steering Colum was the only . The Federal Government paid the entire cost for the development . This significance of this Dodge contribution is not overlooked by me . Yes , I would like to add some more Veteran cars to my Fords . Thanx ..
  7. I have O l d imported from Japan Inc kits . Every one of these suffer tire deterioration . real rubber breaks down from Ozone exposure over time . Anyone have replacements for a 1/24 Bently Blower . It is near to being on the rims . Thanx ..
  8. Check the Catalog Mike , things change . I am familiar with the products offered by Don & Carol . A HT & Convertible yes for sure . The 4 Dr is not , the Ht is a two door . The only constant in life is .. change . Thanx ..
  9. Modelhaus did offer an '65 Buick custom at one time . Any other GM glass fitting is something we look to you for answers toylvr . I am not that familiar with these Ralphies enough . I do have a string including these MY's . I even have one built . When I build the rest I will have made Vacuum Form Reproductions out of necessity . All are glue Bombs except the '63 MY found in a Warehouse in the '80's . I had a longer string in my first Collection . Too many years have past to make any judgements for glass interchangeability . Why don't you ask for a Vacuum formed reproduction ? These original parts are close to 45 years old . Needle in a Haystack and Hen's Teeth come to my mind . This would be an example of what I refer to : "does any one out there have and parts for a '60 Buick" ?? Really , I am lacking hood , chassis , guts , dash , steering wheel , boot . firewall , core support , complete engine and GLASS . I have the hard to get parts , in particular the original headlights . I think Modelhaus will be getting an order from me rather my finding originals . These pieces are just 5 years older . Do you understand what I mean ? If not , PM me please . Anyone having the '60 Buick parts , please PM me . Thanx ..
  10. I am liking this excellent build . There are not many 1:1 AM in the world . Fewer replicated in Scale . Even if this is Not my scale . This one still makes me drool . Thanx ..
  11. The Dodge Brother's Bodies made all of the Closed Body Car Bodies for FoMoCo until River Rouge . All these were of the current Technology then employed then . My Grandparents had no faith in all steel construction for Vehicles . In the late 20's moves were made away from this dubious foible . Dodge may be a leader or Pioneer in this unbeknownst to me . I thank you for sharing this . I do not know everything . Horrace and John Dodge produced Dodge Automobiles starting in 1913 . Henry dumped this Business Venture when river rouge was about to be built or during the Construction . I do know the naysayers declared the "Turret Top" of the thirties as a hazard to life and limb . I think a straight forward scratch build is possible . The slab sided Bodywork's you seek did not have much Crowning (curve) built into it . Thanx ..
  12. My Vote is for a Model . I lived in the Salt Belt . Japan Inc so called Steel Evaporates quite differently than US Steel . The Vehicle shown here shows abuse and weatherized paint . Obvious from lack of washing . Exposed to Salt (Sea Spray) from Coastal Use rusts the Bottom . This shows a solid , not oxidize lower body / frame . The Snorkle for underwater operation is a nice touch . I had to work on one of these once or twice . Correct me if I am wrong . Is not the Carburetor / Intake located on the Left side of the Engine Compartment ? Conveniently along with the Steering Gear Box - linkage and Starter competing for space ?? This overcrowding is just so typical with Japan Inc to induce scraping of flesh of anyone attempting any and all repairs . Clean Tires , clean sand = Photobucket to me . Thanx ..
  13. Nope , with the right reference Material and Sratch Building Skills would make this a possibility . All those built in the Eara you seek were wooden Framed Bodies with Sheet Metal attached to make Body Panels . Keep us in the loop if you take this on as a WIP please ? Thanx ..
  14. IIRC , the original '66 AMT kit had the full detail chassis as did the '66-70 Galaxies and for the 70 MY was the 4 dr . Sedan Galaxie in the Motor City Series . This one , the Motor City Series , had a "beefed up front suspension" to avoid the natural "Sag" over time . MPC started this detail;ed multi-piece authentic suspensions in the '64 MY with the Corvette Kit . This Sag I refer to is the "toe out'' as the build sits on the shelf . You should see this on my '64 Revelle Thunderbolt . The Inner sidewalls is where the weight of the front end is resting on This was built in the '90's When the kit was brand new . I have a Monogram '34 Duesenbergh with "toe out" that would not leave the Factory . I build Factory Stock and it is an eyesore to me as others experiencing the same problems . I built this on in '79 . Then there is the Typo (? , model name escapes me now ) Bugatti . Jean Buggatti designed in the late '30's . Not the Atlantic , the next one in line . The rear suspension is perfection in reduction of scale . Unfortunately , steel is stronger than Plastic . I've repaired this one every time I move it . I just looked at my build up '66 Galaxie 7 Litre . Built in 1987 and sitting on a shelf since . The kit Supplied Valve covers would be correct to a '66 MY , sans the Chrome . A Chrome Dress up kit was a Factory Option . Chromed ; Air Cleaner / silencer housing , Valve Covers and Fan . The '64 My was the last year for the 'rounded Valve Covers" as the '65 and newer are angled . The Chassis had separate exhausts , suspension . It is Beefed up like the '70 MY Galaxie . Separate lower control arms ect. . The spindles are blocks on the Framework with a hole for a metal axle . Myself , I prefer these , I'll take all I can get of these flat engraved with holes for metal axles . This and the later Ford / Mercury kits had NASCAR options as one of the ; 3 'n 1 choices . Thanx ..
  15. I am grateful as always seeing these Works of Art . I do kn ow what . Year & Model .. no .. Thank you very much Harry .
  16. Deep breath .. GM did originate this chunk of trouble . It was a good design . The Bean Counters got hold of it ..period . The Factory Loaded the Cooling Systems with Glycol Base Anti Freeze . This chemical mix causes the Aluminum Engine to melt down with a small amount of heat . Plugging up the Radiator , causing overheating , causing the Steel Cylinder Liners to drop out of the Block , causing BANG . The Powers that were , decided the 12 / 12 Warranty gamble was worth it in the day . The first winter these hand grenades had a 99% Survival . Most all did not make it into Warm/ Hot Weather . When this time passed , the Power Plant quit . All the Owners at this point , as well as the premature failure 1%'s were offered a Substantial Trade in . A Huge Repair Bill would make me think I was being treated well . Reality happens as Buick could not give away a V/6 sometime in the '70's . Buick could not Sell anything with a Skylark , Special or Sky Hawk either . Sold to AMC for Jeep use . AMC fixed the maraud of problems and sold Jeep V/6 until the Engine was so Obsolete , the Tooling was Warehoused . British Leyland and AMC made a deal and off to England went the Tooling /process , Sold again . More Problem Prone Fixes were done . Somewhere was the archaic (and Prone to wear - leakage) External oil Pump went away . FoMoCo was appalled to find the Ralphie V/6 alive , well and fixed upon the acquisition of Range Rover . Again in the 70's , "Buick Engineers" create a New V/6 from a clean sheet . Complete with ..an external trouble loaded Oil Pump . The Bean Counters were still at Junkie Motors . The last count I have is 16 generations . One good one was made and immediately ruined with a Counter-shaft . This made this a Mechanical Clunker so equal with the others . A couple more facts for you to ponder . Across town MoPar made / sold all Aluminum 225 hp , 225 CID Hyper Pacs . Alcohol Based Coolant . There were well spelled out danger Warnings about Glycol Coolant complete with clearly spelled out results . At least three in the Owners manual . One on the inside of the Glove Box Door . At least one on the Core Support near the Radiator . GMC Trucks had V/6's since early in the 1960's , some were Aluminum . Oldsmobile had a Better designed V/8 , All Aluminum . Yet these Engines did not have the problems Buick V/6's had . I just wonder if the lack of Glycol Antifreeze and the use of Alchol Based Coolant made the difference . My sources ; School of Hard Knocks , exchanging experiences with others in the field with me , reading mountains of Interviews - Tech Bulletins - Histories - Books - Magazines (on in Particular ; 'Autoweek" printed this rundown of this clunk when FoMoCo bought Land Rover) . Thanx ..
  17. PM Keith Marks as you would any small business owner . There are times a small change to an existing product will do . Or your desired existing part is not on the website . Many situations are possible to fill a Customer's needs are not publicly known . Thanx .. As a matter of fact , Keith marks made for myself two sets of non-standard seat patterns of a color not offered by him . As a Factory Stock Builder you know I appreciate this . Big Box Stores cannot do this . Thanx ..
  18. I continue to ask how to identify all SB MoPar . I remember oil Filter / Starter and Distributor locations are the giveaway . So , how do you visually recognize a 318 (1st, gen and Thinwall ('64 and newer) . I know the Distributors are rear location . oil Filters straight out of the ®Rt. side of the Block . Starter on Ls. The 273 looks like a 318 Thinwall , just smaller internally ? I don't remember any parts interchanging between the two . Oil Filter , starter as a 318 . Fuel Pump locations are different . The 340 has a front located distributor , ®R side Oil filter angled back to miss the rt. side Torsion Bar , Lt side starter . user friendly to E Bodies . The 318 Oil Filter relocated and angled back for the same reason . The Dist remained r located and L side starter . The 360 , buried distributor in the back again , to a front position located on the rt. side the Oil Filter was shifted . rt side starter . The 400 cid was a BB ... My question please , fill in the Blanks , correct what I've been able to what I've gathered please ? Thanx ..
  19. I must ask ? Why the side pods ? Is this to carry spares ? Or , Carry tools ? Weapons such as Shovels , Jacks , Machetties to extract oneself from a stuck situation ? Or carry party Supplies ? Certainly not Fuel tanks IMHO . Thanx ..
  20. When in doubt - So I did my usual : place mouse near the Model or Real choice circles . I closed my eyes and moved the mouse . Opened them to vote the closest choice to the cursor ... bango .. right in the Middle . Middle .. Model .... both rhyme . Model it is .. Thanx ..
  21. Try Modelhaus . Excellent : better than when new .. Thanx ..
  22. I've been at a solution of this problem since the AMT ; '49 Ford kit's first release . Now I find myself needing a cost prohibitive quantity needed . Thanx ..
  23. Don't feel stupid . I make mistakes all the time . I make contributions as I see them . When someone else shows I otherwise , I am proven wrong .. I do stand corrected , state my reasons of why my statement was made by exposing my sources . I do yield my position to the other information , presented contrary to mine , as the correct information . So if anyone should feel stupid it's me . Mr Fallable .. This is part of why I continue to enjoy this site . The exchange of information about our Hobby is non-stop . Thanx and especially to all of you that have proved me wrong .. Thanx ..
  24. I am impressed seeing someone thinks these were cheap enough to male a Rod out of one . As a retiree on Fixed Income this was waaaaay out of what I have to spend on one model . Or even a bunch of months of what I am able to spend with any digression .Thank you Kevin , I'm still in for your excellent resin Copy .
