Art and Tom and all others . I will accept what you have to offer as you both have a better connection in the Model Car Industry . I do stand corrected . I've read these articles I am quoting many "hours" after I've slept . I do have the slight possibility of having a (single of the few) copy of this apparent mis-information . If I do run across it , I will post it here . It is highly likely I will find it as we have to move again . We are sorting all of our belongings to choose from Keep or not once again . How do I contact the Model Car Museum to send (early resin) Catalogs and '80's - 00's Model car Catalogs ? Examples ; AAM , John Hier , SC Miller , Model Empire to name a few . Thanx ..

I could be wrong . This is the only information I've been able to round up . The articles I've read over the decades place the production at 50 . Chevrolet Division halted this . It was not up to their Standards . Gee , if only they stuck to their guns in the 1:1 World . One of the Problems , IIRC , was the wheels / tires were slightly worked over Flivver (from the AMT Model T kit of 1959 or 1960 ?) . Totally were incorrect as the Chevrolet used a much larger diameter size . For instance 40" vs the 30" on Lizzies . Please , who else and how many were produced . A cousin of mine was a Salesman for a Local Chevrolet Dealership in the '50's - '80's . When these were new , I asked to have him get me one . Impossible to do is what he found . These were already OOP .. He collected Promos and kits ; "for his son" . My search since 1984 has included many people selling OPP kits / build ups . I've never saw one for sale at all the Toledo Shows I've attended . Except for Mike's Resin . I could and did buy the '52 Stude Pace Car from Mike . The Chevrolet was more money I did not have then . The next year when I did have the funds .. I never saw one listed on either Amazon nor E Bay . Yes , I did have as a search for quite a few years when I was able to spend monies on such sources . I had one of those kits in my hands early in the sales year during the 1962 MY . I had the money in my pocket . I asked my father to buy it with my Cash in my Hand .. No .. he was angry his friend's Chevrolet had broken down . We went to buy a replacement part . His efforts netted a No .. So , I still want one . Kevin and I have a plan , I am the third one to get it fresh off the Rubber . I have been sitting on the Funds for quite awhile . Thanx ..

Tom ; GM pulled the plug at 50 kits in 1962 . Mike died before I got one . Do you want to part with yours ? Thanx ..

Nadar would not have written if the Corvair did not Kill people as so many GM products of the day . This exact rear suspension design was banned from EVERY RACE TRACK IN THE WORLD BY EVERY SANCTIONING BODY DURING 1953 . What design ; the one used in Production . When ; Corvairs from 1960 - 1964 MY's Why ; due to the instability caused by wheel "Tuck Under" during all , not just aggressive , cornering / turning . Resulting in overturning the vehicle . The Name Turteling was giving by those Naysayers demanding banning this being , making it outlawed . Like a Turtle flipped on it's back . How (come) : to save Corp $ 00 .45 (CENTS that is) a car by eliminating two U Joints per Vehicle on the Swing Axles . This Choice was deliberate and contrary to the design parameters given of this Project . Development and Customer Saftey were sacrificed to cut costs . Bean counters .. any else one smell Bean Counters ? Ask or read the Engineers wrote about this and on this situation . It would be better yet : Read Ralph Nadar's Book . You decide .. I would like to see your paper unclescot58 . Is this possible ? I owned a '60 MY in my Miscreant Youth . Trying to live with one is Allot different than looking at one ..

1965 chevy nova SS emblems
dimaxion replied to 90lowboy's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
MCW sells a '65 Chevvie II (heapie Cheapie) you could modify into an SS Hardtop through kitbashing . I've been trying to finish a (150 series ??) with a 283 / PG as the first V/8 Chevvie II from the Generic (Brand X) . This Sedan (Post Body) stripper version is my goal. A tribute build of a friend's 1:1 a long time ago . This is the only '65 Chevie II kit / conversion I am aware of . Quite nice and build-able . Thanx .. -
Porsche 914/6 GT - Historic Racing Miniatures
dimaxion replied to afx's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I was around when these were new . One of me Cousins and her Husband bought one new . It was hated as it was intened to be a VW Mid Engine Sports car . Porschephiles ran away in droves . The failure in the Market Place led to stopping Production before Amortization was met . Yes , valuable today because Low Production . I do have two of these in my string and I am considering a less popular 914-4 with the VW Bus Engine it was originally designed to be . Porsche did NOT have anything balanced to compete in the Mid Engined Automotive Scene on the drawing Boards . Marketplace demands forced this misguided action . Thanx .. -
No plastic 2014 Stingray kits? Could it be?
dimaxion replied to Len Geisler's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I've been a Corvette Builder since 1958 . When I got back into the Model Car Hobby in 1984 , I decided to rebuild the string . I sold out in 1979 . It was tough to do this . By 2000 I had rebuilt the string . Hang onto my Hat ! Revelle took over the 1/25 Scale . BTW , the same folks that believe only Hot Rods sell . I do not fit this mold of Customer . I build Factory Stock . For instance ; Henry J - Willys '41) Coupe - etc. there are many more including especially re-pops . The same People that declare on the Instruction Sheet : "Discard extra leftover parts ." I knew immediately my string would be broken soon . As a result , I do not continue as there are missing MY's . I stop at 2006 - 2007 is a Promo . Not the same detail as my kit build ups . so ; 208 -m 2009 - 2010- 2011 2013 - 2014 don't count as I am unable to find these . I do build strings . America's Sport Car I am proud to collect . Vipers are in my mix too and I am disgusted I am not able to have one of a new generation . . I do not qualify as a GM goober smoocher . In fact , I am less so every year . I worked for them directly or indirectly for GM most of my 35 + years I worked in the Automotive Field . A portion of this time , spent with all other makes combined with the General's works . The other 10 was spent Driving 18 Wheelers , yes some of the Generals Finest too . I am again disappointed with no 2014 , Revelle , and GM . To put it mildly . So you may think Revelle would not be able to sell some of the Automotive Oddballs I have mentioned ? May I just say : Mobious ? Hudsons ? The "Red Headed Step Child" from Mother MoPar . The Chrysler Letter Cars . Then in the same breath , I wonder why the Ralphie Centuries did not make the Grade to be Kitted ? I believe I know .. Thanx .. -
All this car does for me is to instill Poetry . "I can't give a clue .. I don't have a clue ." "I'm on a bender - my heart's in a Blender" ; some Lyrics that popped into my head . "You can hang me up with a forty foot rope . There is no Rime for Morty Moot Mope" said Same Sound Brown . Quote from Sesame Street I watched with my oldest Daughter as she learned Rimes .. lol . That's all I have .. Thanx ..

Kevin ; I just received my '70 Plymouth Poverty Caps . I've been whining about these for 5 years or so . You came through with nothing less than what I sought . You left the conversation . So I am forced to thank you Publicly . These are what I need and thank you . .. Thanx .. -
I am so stumped again .. Thanx Harry ..

Will GM's problems ever end?
dimaxion replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I am thrilled to see this . I was a GM fan until '64 . I worked in a Service Station . Yes , this meant I worked on Cars . Actually 90% of the repairs were to GM's . Not the most populace percentage in the Vehicle mix in the day . I serviced all makes and Models . I pumped gas into all makes . Kaiser , Nash , Frazier , Hudson , all Mopars , FoMoCos , AMC Products . Any other Domestic and Foreign of the day . I serviced the entire bunch of these cars . The GM's I always could count on for repairs in the Garage area . I did have a '46 Ford Pickup I removed a Piston , plugged the hole . It left the Repair with a V/5 . Not the first time for this modification . This was the worst repair I did on a Ford . I helped my Boss re-charge the A/C in the trunk of a Post War Packard . I had more problems changing Spark plugs on a Chevvie I-6 . You do earn you monies at the behest of a Garage Mechanic Companion . Lots of it . I did notice , all my friends had to work constantly "Fix" the GM piles . All other makes did .. function . You did not ever have to fear not making a 'round trip' in other than Brand X . I've read at ad-nausea accounts from the People retired from GM . The simple truth ; A simple Business plan worked until Corporate Greed chucked it all away . Give the Customer a good product . He'll be back . A hierarchy was built for progressing better products for every Customer's ability to buy better . The Engineers all say the same thing . The Bean Counters wreck the integrity of the product for the sake of maximizing profit . The Customer be Dammed . GM ripping Customers off by providing less for more and hiding the truth . Just look at the Chevrolet Engines in Olds Cutlasses . Hiding the truth substituting a less HP = Less Fuel Mileage wit much less quality is in my mind : Theft . What's wrong with Imports ? Why do I resent these . they aren't any better . They still break down , have defects and enjoy Recalls . But .. this is a Heavy But .. A US Auto Worker for Japan Inc. earns less than a US Auto Worker at Domestic Factories . A Domestic car has $ 2,500 built into the Sticker for Auto Worker Retirement . A Japan Inc. has less at $ 500 ... for .. a Homeland Japanese Auto Worker . Does the Japan Inc. Cost $ 500 Less ?? I could go on . I'll stop here . This is a first for me ; "Fords bursting into Flames Parked in the Driveways" . I don't think so . I need Proof such as a News Report please . Toyotas did Kill Customers with Unintended Acceleration . Thanx .. -

69 GTO Convertible resin body
dimaxion replied to TheCat's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Shawn Carpenter sells a resin '68 Conversion in 1/25 Scale . IIRC , the bodies ect were the same in '68 & '69 . The Grilles were different . Anyone else have more details between these two MY's ? Thanx .. -
The Time Limit is 45 days .. Period . do not hesitate .. Thanx ..

I build Factory Stock . Like VW's , unless you know these Vehicles , you can't decearn one year from another . Both made "Running Changes" during Production . If the change was lucky enough to happen at the same time as the Competition offered up New Model Year , so be it . If not true , so be it . The latter years with the Costs of not including US Government mandates changed this practice for VW . I am looking forward to new Model T's I cannot scratch build or Modify . I will most happily add these to my String .. Thanx ..

The '59 kit I missed also . I had a second hand '59 Corvette kit w/b . It was released circa 1960 . I did buy the '58 in the '90's . It was far ahead of the original . IIRC , the FI unit was not included in the original kit . Yes , I will buy a '59 when released . Or if I find one someone wants to trade one off first . Quality problems ? Revelle and China ? have any of you read how Business is done in China ? I have , in a word ; TROUBLE ! These US Corps got what they paid for . I do not feel sorry for them at all . I will not support someone ripping me off and ignoring me . Is this the decline of Revelle as was the decline of AMT ? Stat tuned .. I will .

I think this is a Model . The roundels just don't look painted . Decaled on a 1:1 , no . These are too opaque . The wheels are very good replicas . The Photo-shopping is most excellent . Professional job Harry . There is no distortion through the windshield . I don't believe there is room on the 1:1 for the buldge on the Cowl for a Tach ? . This is my Opinion and I'm sticking to it . Thanx Harry ..

Where to get flathead v12.
dimaxion replied to om617's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I am the person making the Lindbergh Lincoln Continentals into a Model Car . The first thing to go is the Blob of an Engine . I wanted stone Stock V/12's . I found these by contacting ; <wilsoncobraguy@comcast.com> .I bought 4 of these . I am thing I need one more . These are conversions from the '48 Ford Kit V/8's . I am unable to share pics again . I do recommend these for Stone Stock V/12's . The wheels / tires are next on the chopping block .. Thanx .. -
Where not Carter AFB's OE on MoPars ? IIRC , '50's through '70's . These were used in the Dual Quad , especially Tall B Blocks due to low profile . I saw these on Cross Ram , Shorty ram and Hemi Mills . IO rebuilt on on a early '60's A Body , on a 383 . Thanx ..

I would like to throw my two cents in here . Dave , I appreciate all of your products and the efforts you have to sweat with the Chinese . I pray you have rights to your Dies . I know of the "funny business" these fine people use as SOP . I agree with your business model . Doing as many different kits from one mold is good . Making many variations from this base as possible . In this vein , I would ask again for my normal requests ; Studebaker Hawks ; '56-'64 . Just like the originals , slight changes to the same design . Stud Larks ; '59 - '66 . Slight body mode here also . A '57 - '58 President / Champion , especially the Scottsman , out of the Question . Parts for the '58 Packard Hawk are a must for the orphans list ... Packard Bakers are untouchable too .. Why skip all other opackards ? ? Chrysler 300 letter Series . Small changes underneath . The Engine is easy to modify as all are BB MoPar IIRC . None are LB MoPar The Chassis is the same w/ torsion bars through '65 . Body / Interior changes are costly as I do understand . The '65 Satellight = a '66 . It too is a missing link . The FoMoCo Intermediates are a goldmine you've found . More Hudsons please . Any Independent is fodder for me . Hudson Jet , ect. , go crazy .. A Factory Stock Henry J is a missed oppertunity for Revelle . Some modelers do make Factory Stock and not only Racers . You have the Midas touch for sure .. Thanx ..

Too many projects going on.
dimaxion replied to Ramfins59's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Many have spoken here . None have mentioned dealing with the environs . I must paint while the weather is harmonious with Painting . I donate too many ruined finishes to the "pond" while being cautious and mindful of this problem . . Due to my diminishing abilities , I must undo this Mass Production Painting during the warm weather . I mixed up , lost many pieces , along with three wasted efforts . To the "pond" , meanwhile the cost of painting continue to escalate . Out of close to twenty , 8 are perfection . The rest need more work - paint (which I ran out of) - sanded , touched up , missing coverage . Pus the aforementioned 3 in the Tank .. One at a time from now on in the Paint Shop ! Really .. This collection Ive been at since 1984 . Previously 1958 - 1978 . So , what works for you ; is what you are . I build Factory Stock . I am retentive . I have a pile of Muscle cars lacking the right tires for example . I won't put on tires made decades after the last 1: 1 disappeared from the Dealers Lots for example . I spend much time researching and getting it right . I do saves , glue bomb , restorations , and Modifying non- stocks to replicas . As a result , I have more WIP's than I can count . I agree with the statement from NachoZ : "all of mine stash are WIP's" , to paraphrase . Don't fear , it does accumulate . . Caution : Avoid being overwhelmed . Thanx .. -
I am not able to see if I had posted here prior to this . The Aurora double kits are grail for the Vintage builders . The rods , not so much as are the Stock Versions . The Stock only versions were Mail Order kits Aurora sold . The 1911 Chevrolet is coming in Resin from Kevin at Missing Link . The Amplicar is coming from Ma's Resins along with a '39 Gram Sharknose . I had the Winnebago kit I built . Anyone mention Hess Petroleum Promotionals ? I have the Training Van (missing the side door) . This thread did get much mileage . I am wanting the Chrysler Boat . Did not the Fonzie kit offer two versions . The Triumph pictured here and later a Harley . The HD was out around the time the Episode of ; "Fonzie Jumps a live shark" . No figure . I don't remember the scales either . Thanx ..
