71 Mustang resin cast parts
dimaxion replied to vamach1's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I must join in the Fray . Halicki's Mach I was the "Last of the Ladies" , quoted in the Film . A '73 MY . It is the only car to survive the carnage . 100 Cars destroyed in an hour is absolutely correct . I have the Commemorative copy of the original . The final sign off , Fade to Black is Elenore doing continuous doughnuts complete with Billows of Tire Smoke . Mr Halicki did the Directing , gathered up the cars , and did the Stunt Driving in the scenes he was in . All of Elenore's Stunts , he piloted . Thanx .. -
I have a Perry's resin from the '80's I fixed . I popped the Left side from the Cowl to the wheel opening . I stripped it , Super Glued the missing side . I didn't re-enforce where the body was mended . It has been completed and still is intact for about 5 years now . It sits on a shelf and I pick it up gingerly . That is , when I disturb it . You seem to be doing well on the "Learning Curve" . Thanx ..

A real nice model . Lack of Tire Valves & discoloration , burnt , carbon covered , or flaking off paint are all lacking . Thanx ..

Lower A-Frames , Lower Control Arms , or just A-Frames is proper . Just as a Motor and an Engine are the same . Nice progress . Keep it coming . Thanx .. -
MCW 1965 Satellite pics.
dimaxion replied to Randytheroadrunner's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I agree with Randy and the good remarks about this kit from Dave . dave dodge is among the Best Resin casters . I not have yet been disappointed or got something needing skill Level 10 at MCW . R&R made the '66 Belvedere in Stock and altered WB forms . On this casting the "Blobby Clunks of Resin" are , IMHO , what you remove from the Engine Bay and window openings to keep it solid until built . This prevents damage . Now , anyone else up for a '66 Satellite other than myself ? Thanx .. -

Nope . I do have three of these Mustangs I am willing to trade off . These are nice kits . I just won't build these now . An extra body goes with the "bundle" . Thanx .. -

I understand your Mail Concerns . I also an sympathetic with you about your Caution . Money Orders are the best . IIRC , Postal MO are insured . More costly , safer . I am a customer of Dave Dodge , Don and Carol Holthause , Norm Veeber , Tom Coolidge since the beginning . Plus many others both come and gone . Alas some have passed . Most of the Bad Guys that have ripped us . Sharing these wrongful experiences , we spread the word . Most offenders are gone . Some simply have changed their names and continue . This is a quite different situation than when resin Casting started for model cars . Dave , Don and Carol , Norm Veeber , and Tom Coolidge are all totally one person Operations . That being said , I wish this to remain the same as long as their health holds out . These people might get help packaging and shipping only . I don't think a successful small business should , expand Staff . This will raise cost of products , and destroy the Business . "If it works , don't fix it" is a Business Mantra . As increasing Staff to do a website , handling monies / Credit cards will do . At the same time I don't want the government forcing these "little Businesses" , Entrepreneurs , to hire Staff to track Tax Revenues . Making for increasing costs for extra Staff for either cause is the same result IMHO . . IMHO also , a Business owner has the right to decide how a Business runs . For them ; 'if it works , don't fix it ." Thanx ..

All of the above are issues . Patience will overcome the thickness and fitment issues . I have to address the glass issue here . I am not a proponet of attaching styrene glass on styrene with conventional styrene cement . Glass might fog up as some glue might seep into the wrong place . To the exposed surface on the outside is one of these unwanted places . If Super Glue is used = Fogged Glass . I use Elmer's or white glue . It is no problem to remove access . Down the road into the future , I may want to re-do a build . The windows "Tap Out" with ease . Or for the timid as in small glass areas , a quick soak turns the White Glue Soft . . I have many problems with Resin Ragtops and the windshield seperating over time . I recently sprung for Watch Crystal Glue . It is clear and clean up of excess is possible . I have not decided to rework any of those builds as of yet . About the problem of Supply and Demand . I have no fix for either . "You can't always get what you want " . Thanx ..

I just have to add this . The kit in nice . I have to agree with the assessment : " What were they smoking" when this was designed and tooled up origianlly . The proper and dependable 4 Popper from Opel being replaced with a Ralphie (Buick) V/6 is outrageous . A mechanical nightmare from it's inception . That is past the Engineering Design origin . The Bean Counters ruined it once again . Is it still 6 Generations of GM V/6's ? Resulting with one of these work like a real American Engine and not a prone to failure and nightmare . An external Oil Pump .. a 40 K Meltaway Camshaft .. I will stop here . The list of fatal flaws is long .. Thanx ..

Hendrix Mfg. -- Recommendations..?
dimaxion replied to Ramfins59's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I've had good experiences and not so good . The not so good , Steve Kohler made right . I will not hesitate to buy in the future nor reccomend anything they make . Fair quality for a Fair Price . Your monies worth . One example is the '57 Lincoln Resin kit . I did recieve it and started the WIP . I was scratching for a Chassis . I recieved a '57 Ford Doner Kit from Steve explaining he thought a Chassis was in the kit . I cannot thank him enough . Thanx .. -
For my resin Modelhaus Cornet a simple soultion may I add . I use the Chassis from the "General" Charger kit . With over a Million Sold .. it is easy to find and buy . Thanx ..

It seems to me I did not get the Stutz right as an AMT kit , not a MPC kit . I had both the Original Release In the Connisuer Classics Series . In my Current collection , the Bearcat release . The later had Machine Guns (Vickers Water Cooled) and funky Running Board Lamps . IIRC the Connisuer had an older date on it than the Bearcat Version . Correct me if I am wrong . IIRC the "Cat from AMT" , Bud Anderson , made a Model Car periodical statement about the Mercer kit in 1/25 Scale . I don't have the magazine today . I may have this mixed up with "My mother the Car" .
-
I can clear up some items here . Pyro may have planned to do a 1/25 Scale Pierce Silver Arrow . AMT did announce it . No word past that point . The MPC Stutz Bearcat kit was made . To be followed up by the Mercer raceabout . The poor sales of the Stutz cancelled any plan for the Mercer . The Edsel Funny Car was in a bag . Not a Box . I bought one in the day from my LHS . One of the Decals was : "Driver Flo Boadit " . A repop of the Original Edsel promo Body (turned to a 3 in 1 Kit in '58) and a Generic Funny Car Chassis . The AMT "Beverly Hillbilly's" Olds kit was released instead of another announced Veteren Car kit . I don't remember what . Any help here ? Thanx ..

I use not exotic Imported Orential products . I fear for our Grandchildren's future and this is my choice . I use Acrylic Craft paints made in U.S.A. . Back in the day , we used Airplane Dope . also made in U.S.A. and still is in excellent shape . 30 Years + BTW . Thanx .. -
