I remember the first time Don & Carol were at the Toledo Show . I did buy something and have continued to do so . I think I still; ahve Catalogs back into the '80's . I cannot say enough about Good products and Service . They don't bill your Credit Card until your order is ready to ship . When they accept your payment , they check your account and charge you a Dollar to do so . This Dollar is subtracted when full payment is made . This protects themselves and you from Fraud . As a Victim of Identity Theft (X4) I like the way they do this too . Thanx ..

IIRC ; I was told this by a Car Fabricator way back in the Past . Could be I have this confused with something else . The procedure described after my post seems logical to drop the car as low . I must retract my description of a Zed Frame ; "How Low can you go" was the mantra in the day . I retract this method . I will stick to the Boxed Frame method . Thanx ..

looking to build "55" Ford
dimaxion replied to orkybrown's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Hendrix Mfg sells '55 Ford Bodies . See/contact Steve Kohler , he is among the best . I do have some and am happy with Hendrix Resins . The trunk lids had a different trim . The rear bumper routed the exhaust through it for the costlier models in '55 . I think it was dropped in 1956 ? The '55 has a "peak - a- boo" Speedo and round gauges/ Radio / controls . The '56 not so . Different hood emblems and all trim on the bodies are not the same . . happy hinting with this conversion . It is not out of reach to pull off . Thanx .. Now , it is high dollar for one of these . Time will drive the costs down . The whole process and initial costs will drop . The Printer Ink people are perpetrating what used to be called "Price Fixing" IMHO . IMHO the Persons in power let them get away with this Legal Gouging have no Conscience or Morals .. Yet , we flock like Lemmings and these people laugh at us like Emron Employees . This is a wowser for sure . It is just beyond my Financial Limits . Thanx .. -

Yes , these roofs were different . In the day I saw these bodies parked next to each other as I drooled over them . The HT was lower and IIRC , a tad longer , Thanx .. -
how thin can you cast resin

You took the words right out of my mouth .. Is this a resin Part ? Thanx .. -
I have bottles of Pactra from the '50's - '60's . When I bring paint (in bottles) home , I open these , wipe Vasolene PJ on the threads sparringly . Not enough to enter the bottle . Store turned upside down , with a B-B in it to agitate . The only time I had an issue is when I placed a B-B in Alclad Chrome . I shook the bottle and it exploded . Won't do that again . Thanx for the tip about Grainy and filtering / thinning . I use a Micro Mark 110 V shaker . I am on my second strap now . Thanx ..

This particular model was a one time Freebee from Franklin or Danbury Mint . You joined an exclusive Club and it was a sign up gift . IMHO ; this separated the occasional buyer when you could pay for the Model . From the Money is no object Collectors . I was short .. I do see these on Evil Bait on occasion . Thanx ..

I would like sets of these and other '30's - '40's - '50's - '60's HD light truch wheel/tires . As in my wire wheel / balloon tires .. wish in one hand .. deificate in the other and see which one fills up first . The winner is your wish granted . Thanx .. -
68-9 barracuda notchback?
dimaxion replied to freakshow12's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
The Modelhaus version is a '67 MY . The f.b/g is slightly different . The taillights differ . The hood is different . The body is missing side markers / reflectors mandated by the Feds . MoPar paid fines for every '68 MY they made for the little round side markers . MoPar did the same for the '69 MY for reflectors instead of lights . The fines were outlandish . The Product Identification ; Priceless . In the day before this phrase was "coined" . If all else fails , May I suggest a Modelhaus '67 Notch back & '68 fb/g , taillights and add the small round side markers . In the '80's there were tutorials to make these . The kit makers made the body trim and detail way too shallow / thin . Only to be buried in the primer coat . What's that ? Still doing this ? You could check photo etch parts . Thanx .. -
mine went together well . The two part body , as like any of my multi-part portioned kits , I pre-assembled and painted as a unit . It looks great on the shelf next to a 1500 Alpha made by Nitto (? IIRC) . I did not recall a blower . It is un-accessible to me , but I can see it when the flashlight is in just the right angle .. lol .. Thanx ..

I have done this also . I open my end up and check them out . I then notify the other party . I wait until I know they received their end and are happy . I think i shall continue doing this . Thanx ..

I will defend WV Quality Control . I was a Car Hauler domiciled at Lordstown . Oh. Terminal . All Drivers from Lordstown were banned resulting from the first Load of Rabbits we hauled . We "Framed out" everything we loaded . Two of us went to the first Dealership making delivery . During the unloading procedure the decks are raised . One of the positions is on a "Jump Skid" and the stresses were too much on the Rabbit . The unibody buckled in the Middle , doors popped open , as did the hood and trunk IIRC . This was widespread as a quality issue . Along with some other "Teething Issues" . These weren't bad ..would you like to know about some Imports I experienced ? Volvo and Nova immediately come to mind . Not the designed in USA - built here Novas . The Novas built at the "Fort Apache" in California as a Joint Toyota & GM Venture . Thanx ..

Not R E a l Thanx .. Hmmmm.. this did not come out as I had planned . I typed it up as I was falling off the cliff . Diagonally across the page descending both line by line with the first two letters Capitalized and the last two lower case . "Best laid plans of Mice and Men are oft lead astray"

I bought a panel scriber from Bare Metal Foil . I am pleased with the results . I do have to use the Backwards X Acto blade to start the panel lines on slippery Styrene . I am talking the really slick stuff . I've used this method for decades . The scriber is a newer process too me . IMHO I like the tool better . Just seem to have troubles making a start on slick stuff . Thanx ..

Gluing steel to plastic Question
dimaxion replied to CrazyGirl's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Color me a thief . If this works ... I've used thin wire for Rain Gutters and Exterior Moldings . Attached with Super Glue dripped on and capillary action . The resulting fine Sandpaper to clean up when dried . The dumb wire won't stay in place otherwise . The gutters , I painted over . Trim , I "silvered" . Let us know how this works for you please ? Thanx .. -
