90 or 91 LX Mustang convert?
dimaxion replied to DrKerry's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Reliable Resins is now Castenparts on Evil Bait . I contacted Matt in January or Febuary this year about the '70 Javelin he still owes me .. you know the one I paid for in 2011 . Ah yeah , I never got . He told me I would have it in March . No Javelin , no further communications . The last two private messages went unanswered . Ebay has closed these messages out . I did copy the communications we exchanged there and Email . If you would like to see these , I can arrange this . It must be fun to Rippoff fellow modelers IMHO . I was a dummie , I held off filing a Complaint at Evilbait . I did find this to be untimely when I did do it . BBB is too late also . I believed his "Story" . A death in the Family is indeed a tradgety . He is a member here BTW . Matt , Sleep well my friend . You do get what you give in this life . Thanx .. -
Let's go back into the Way Back Machine , shall we ? Before the AMT Aherns-Fox Pumper wasn't ; The Mercer Raceabout as the Companion of the Stutz Bearcat . How can one exist without the other ? Prior to that debacle , the Pierce Silver Arrow . I gave up after growing old waiting for this relese . I bought the Mint Car off Evil Bait . Same as the Chrysler "Magnificent Turkey" . It was announced once upon a time . Let's not forget the '60 Ford Galaxie taking 10 years to make the Market place . Where is my '50 Studebaker ?? The AMT '50 Olds and the Stud dissappeared into oblivian as did both nameplates IMHO . There are more I just cannot recall . Thanx ..

You aren't kidding . 38 degrees this morning / overnight . If this misses the "Paint Room" located in the great outdoor sthere is next season next year . Thanx ..

I've been saving all year to get this one . A 1961 Mercury Comet . I did get it last Saturday . It is excellent . A little flash , one place needing spot putty . I've soaked , cleaned (electric toothbrush using Comet Scouring Powder) , no really Comet . Adhesion promotor , first primer surfacer . The body work begains . I hope to thve this completely painted before the snow flies . Good Luck . This is my second buy from him , I'm a happy Camper . I bought the Lacqure Paint for this and a '61 Falcon in the '90's from MCW . I just did not locate the Comet until January . Happy , Happy , Joy , Joy ! Thanx ..

It seems to me : AMC , most of the Independents , Vehicles from the '20's - '30's - 40's '50's - '60's both foreign and domestic have Torque Tubes . I hated to get into any torque tube needing repair . Let's not forget that GM joy ! The Pontiac Tempest ; Maytag Mill and Rope Drive . I for one welcome generic U-Joints .. thanx and Thanx ..

The first Yenko I saw , I crawled underneath . It had more than 1 leaf spring per side . Traction bars were added . This was done to prevent disaster as the torque ripped many a rear ends loose from the chassis if / when the car would "hook Up" . Part of the reason GM would not build these uncontrolable .......... (fill in the blank) . The same with the Camaros . I watched a Brand New '66 Nova driver side step the clutch at a Drag Strip off the line in Competition . It bolted the car's rear end up in the air and the resulting "unplaned event' closed the Air Port for quite awhile . BTW , the Competiton was done for the weekend immediatly & instantly . Friday night was an awful short weekend of Racing . The fans and contestants all got "Rainchecks" . IIRC , the Strip banned Camaros & Novas w/o real suspension under these GM Qualit Gems from this date . To simply state , with stock monoleaf still in place . This was a '66 327 Nova SS . Just picked up late in the afternoon then driven directly to the Strip . Baldwin Motion , Yenko ad Niccky Chevrolet knew better than the Generally More how to make a car , period IMHO . Not a rolling hazard IMHO , as GM's SOP to make in the day . BTW , when the maker did make the Novas with more than the IMHO ; "Failed Monoleaf Experment" , the centering bolts were too soft . This made these "improved" Vehicles easy to spot going down the road . The whole lot of them dog-tracked . Thanx ..

I remember joining the Revelle Master Modelers Club in the early '70's . It required you to build so many catagories / quanitiies to obtain levels of Profiency . I did list every model , what age , who's kit it was , how I finished and what each looked like , and what the deposition of each was . I explained the "Glue Bombs" of my youth with this detail . I did get a great Certificate . It has been lost over the years . I did have a choice of yea or nay on Monthly Kit Offers . Thank you for stirring up this memory . Thanx ..

I am looking for U-joints also . I am turning a "Pig's ear into a (not silk) purse" with the Lindburgh / Pryo Cord . Copyright 1955 BTW , you know this dog . U-joints would fit my "upgrade of details' so lacking on this kit . Thanx .. I am looking for U-joints also . I am turning a "Pig's ear into a (not silk) purse" with the Lindburgh / Pryo Cord . Affirmative on the '70's Plymouth Dog Dishes / Poverty Caps / Hub Caps / Lug Covers / AShiney center parts .. lol .. along with the steelies . I have the resin Bandit Body (x-GTX) and the Missing Link Grille . The streering wheel / dash I've had since 1986 . I am trying to dupilcate a Stripper RR I remember with a .. hold on .. Hemi of the Street variaty . I stole a MPC "General" chassis for this one already . I may liberate the Int. Bucket and modify some bench seats to finish this . I don't remember what headrests these had . Like I previously stated , a LTP for sure . Thanx ..

I am beginning to think of why I have this as a Decades Old Long Term project ?? Bump ??

I am unable to locate these in 1/25 Scale . I want to build a "stripped" Hemi Car . Who gottem ?? This is a decades old LTP . Thanx ..

Anybody doing a Fox hatch conversion ?
dimaxion replied to 57peppershaker's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I can relate to this cunndudrum . I am constantly being the wrong buyer wherever I go . Thanx .. -
go to <rocketfin.com> . Scroll down to Model Car Links . All vendors are listed alphabetically . Steve Kohler is great to deal with . He will make it right is anything is wrong . R&R castings are hit or miss . Jimmy Flintstone is also great to deal with . His products are real nice . Needing some work as R&R sometimes . This is due to Mold Wear and Tear on both . Jimmy makes mostly doner kits , needing to get doners . R&R made both complete and doner . Check with Steve and make sure what you are getting . Thanx..

Poor man's resin prep and tutorial?
dimaxion replied to MitchP's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I use Adhesion Promotor on all resin . I use a primer Surfacer . Look and fix flaws . Reprimer with Primer . In case of Putty work , I use a primer Sealer . Then . color coats . Testors Model Master - Enamel Top Coat - High Gloss Clearcoat , # 2936 . If it works , don't fix it . It takes me months to paint any/all bodies . I have only few of the White Finished Builds Fade to (or to a tint of) Yellow / Tan off white . These were exposed to Cigarette Smoke . BTW , the JoHan Models in this same enviroment lost their Chrome too . You could short cut and eliminate the Primers , clearcoat . The Primesr will show a shiney spot without it . A TMO , Low spots . sinl marks are the usual caused and need for Putty Work . I have build ups I did during the '80's . Still very rpesentable and nice . Some , exposed to dust are kinda Dull . I use Pledge to revive them . I also use Future Floor Polish to "touch" up some finish imperfections . Not only the color coat needs fixed . The Clearcoat needs fixed after such a repair . I hope this helps . I do not Plunk much into the Pond too much these days since I developed this Proceedure . Thanx .. -
Bandit Resins
dimaxion replied to Michael in Illinois's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
May I suggest . Go to <rocketfin.com> , at the bottom of the page click "Model Car Links" . All resin and aftermarket suppliers are listed . All apphabetcal . I have his GTX Body , Removed the 'GTX' emblens , add a RR Grille and decals = Road Runner . Bucket seats are an Option on the '70 RR . I am looking for the Stock Interior for a 1/25 Scale Road Runner , GTX or Superbird . I have the dashboard . Thanx .. -

SECOND TRY - '58 OLDSMOBILE FOR CLASS OF '58
dimaxion replied to Ramfins59's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Rich , I never go here in this section . I spotted the title and had to look . Mid '50's GM (especially all of the Generous's '58 Loosers) I am now stuck on , curently building . Actually , this is Painting Season . I paint stuff to build on the off season . The nickname for the '58 Olds Llineup is the "Chrome Mobile" . What wasn't Chromed was Stainlelss. What wasn't either , was polished Aluminum . The lesser amount that shined on the Body was painted Steel . Actually , Pontiac Bonnevilles of this year had the "Rocket Fins" a gold hue located in the body cove . This is also the last year the 5 GM Divisions had their own paint colors / hues . Not including the Springtime Editions where the hues were spread out and shared . This shade of "Coral" fits this car quite well . Nice progress . You have a great talent sir . It shows with the Pinstriped Bunny especially . The modification of the interior is perfect . I can relate about the work involved . I did remove the sides of a '60 Corvair guts . I did it to replicate my horrible experiance with a 1:1 as a Teenager (read Stroke) . It was my third 1:1 Car . I fixed many in this plie of parts , continu -
