  1. On Boxing Day I bought one of the Mercedes DTM kits and was going to buy after market decals to do Bruno Spengler's car. Now they are coming out with a kit in his livery. Now I have a decision to make.... On the other hand those 2 Ferrari's 599's do sound interesting. Peter, I'll help you out. You keep the Spengler decals from the additional kit that you buy, and I'll take the inconvenient plastic pieces. LOL
  2. Ambitious and well executed mods to an Evo! I will follow your progress to completion.
  3. Thanks for that tip Ben. I've used Silly Putty to mask small parts off the sprue, but never thought of using it to mask a chassis. Sure will save using a lot of tape! LOL
  4. Luis, I got the same message, not once but twice. The first time I actually phoned PayPal. They told me to first forward the message to their 'spoofmail' address and then delete it. The second time I just forwarded the message followed by deletion. I have never heard a word back from PayPal if the forwarding did any good or not.
  5. Curt, another outstanding build. All business and no bling, which is my idea of great looking bike. You seem to strike a perfect balance in adding the 'just right' amount of detailing. I hope this one ends up being a keeper for you.
  6. Don, I'm curious as to why no products from Iwata are included in your reviews.
  7. Geoff, your Morgan is looking amazing. Your painting style is clean and crisp, as can be seen on the detail painting of the steering wheel. I'm really enjoying this.
  8. translation for mr cheap Oh, it's X-mas, 1 small cardboard rack with 14 to 15 kits in the midway (middle aisle?) at $15 to $19. The artwork on these kits was made for 8 year olds and I was not impressed. Somebody here said there was 2000 through 6000 wet dry sandpaper. They did not have it.
  9. Thanks very much Pat. I really appreciate having the entire list of his paints. Also appreciate the behind the scenes arrangement you set up. I'm going to go over the list to decide which additional colors to buy.
  10. Jim, sorry for the delay in replying about Bob's Paints. A good friend, Pat Redmond gave them a highly recommended. His name is Bob Dahl, located in Kenosha WI. You can contact him at: gdahl1@wi.rr.com He was a great guy to talk to and has some great colors. He told me that I could probably cut the paint 3:1 lacquer thinner to paint.
  11. Everything that peter31a said above. Had a fantastic time. I would definitely go to this one again. Here are my pictures from the show: http://s1213.photobucket.com/albums/cc473/Bill_Eh/Detroit%20NNL%202011/
  12. Picked these items up at the Detroit NNL, put on by D.A.A.M.s What a great event.
  13. Yes money always seems to be a vague memory, but you know I think you're right. LOL
  14. Mark, money is something I won't have a lot of, after the Detroit NNL this weekend! LOL
  15. This should be an awesome kit. I'm a huge fan of 70's era F-1 cars.
  16. Dave, does the same or a similar offer extend to kits purchased in Canada?
  17. It basically says: detailed model, opening doors, accurate motor, opening bonnet with complete details (radiator) 2 Cartograf decal sheets, 1 for carbon, and 1 for livery. Pat Redmond posted the review of the Simil R Focus kit.
  18. I always love your rusty/crusty creations. In this case however, I sure hope that both of these beauties are going to remain shiny. Thanks for the tip on the Dupont Acrylic Clear. You do amazing work with your Iwata, have you considered decanting and shooting this particular clear? Thanks, I'm a huge fan with huge respect for your painting skills.
  19. Love that year's Galaxie and your rendition of it. Super clean build and great colour choice. Thanks for sharing.
  20. This build is awesome. I love the colour and the semi-gloss style finish. All of your detail painting and engine detailing is always done to perfection. Very glad that you posted this amazing Hornet!
  21. You are a madman when it comes to creativity and speed of builds. Never thought that I would see a Hummer that I liked. This is amazing. I did a double take when I saw it listed Under Glass, as I thought it was just a couple days ago when I saw the start of this in a Workbench thread. Fanatastic model.
  22. I don't know if all of the canards and winglets actually improve the aero. They sure do look cool on the DTM cars. Your model is spectacular. Well done and thanks for sharing.
  23. Love what you did with this. Very original. Thanks for sharing!
  24. I vividly remember seeing a C6R posting of yours and all I could think of was HOLY SMOKE, that is awesome. Great that you are warming up to returning to building/posting!
  25. The one show I like to try to make it to each year is the NNL East. It is about an 8 hour drive from Toronto. I have a great friend that I am fortunate enough to go with. He puts up with the extremely immature personna that seems to overcome me on road trips. We are kind of like frick and frack together. He likes Big Band music, where I like jazz (Pat Metheny). He is rational and I am... well you get the idea. As for my top reasons: 1. Definitely road trip is first. 2. Getting to hang out with Bob Dude and friends again! 3. Cheeseburger Paradise. 4. Empire Diner for an an incredible breakfast to jump start morning of NNL. 5. Longhorn or other steak house, where a whole bunch of crazies get together, after the day's events of the NNL. Oh, I almost forgot, the NNL East. I wish I could afford to go every year, because everything about it makes it one of the most amazing experiences for a model car hobbyist!
