The #2 Firestone Indianapolis is from IMC's first kit, the 1963 version of the Lotus Ford. There are front and rear versions of this tire, and I'm not sure if they appeared in any other IMC kits. This Lotus-Ford is not the same kit as the much more common IMC '65 Lotus-Ford. The '65 Indy winner is the one that Testors reissued in the 1970s.

AMT kits with Goodyear Rally GT tires?
Don Sikora II replied to Fat Brian's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
My kit is dated 4/24/2019, and it's coded A2 which I believe indicates it is from the second production run of this kit. I'd guess the March 27, 2019 kit is from A1, so maybe only the first production run had the tampo tires. -
AMT kits with Goodyear Rally GT tires?
Don Sikora II replied to Fat Brian's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I looked at my reissue '77 Pinto kit with the green box. My kit doesn't have the tampo-print Rally GT tires, and the only tires in my box are the BF Goodrich tires that I think were originally tooled for the lowrider version of the '70 Monte Carlo. Also have the Coke Pinto Popper, and struck out finding these Rally GTs there too. -
I think that first roof section might be from the 1961 SMP or 1962 AMT Corvette annuals.

Kit 85-7200 is basically the custom version from the Waverider combo with the stock front bumper and grille instead of the Thom Taylor custom set up. Quite far from stock actually, because the original custom kit was a surprisingly elaborate conversion I believe the stock version was also issued with licensing for some professional fisherman (yeah, I didn’t know that was a thing either), and I’m pretty sure it was an Amigo Kit with a matching 1/64-scale diecast Silverado.

Correct, the Revell Corvette roadster remains a 1968 model. Only the coupe uses the 1969 parts.

Thanks. I have that kit, but have no memory of these tires so I'll take a look. -

Thanks, I don't remember seeing these before! Which issue of the Pinto are they in? -

Can you please post a pic of the tire in question? Does it have tampo for the Rally GT? -
Testors Porsche 935 info?

I'm pretty sure it's actually a rebooking of a very simple Fujimi kit. Looks like there's a Fujimi logo on the side panel of the Testors box in the photo above... -
Meijer's has models again.
Don Sikora II replied to 2000-cvpi's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It was a very small kit selection, and it think kits came in assortments so the selection varied. At one point, they had a very limited selection of Testors supplies as well. I don't remember exactly what was all there, but they did have the most recent SnapTite NASCAR kits, some muscle cars, Foose kits, and a few 1/48-scale airplanes. I think they had that last SnapTite monster truck as well, and I'm pretty sure I remember seeing the Scooby Doo airplane kit there for the first time. From memory, I bought a Dale Jr. SnapTite Chevy SS, the last issue of the '64 Thunderbolt, and one of the Foose cars at my local store. And I still have a SnapTite Abrams tank that I found on clearance after the Hobbico bankruptcy, along with a Motor City Muscle '69 Z/28 2-in-1 that was on clearance the time before. In Racine, the JoAnn fabrics has a very tiny kit section. I don't get in there very often, but there are usually between two and four different Round 2 kits. Usually the '68 Shelby and '67 GTO, and a BATMOBILE or some other licensed kit. They have quite a few Testors carded or boxed supplies, along with a well stocked rack of the basic 1/4-ounce bottles of enamel. In a different section of the store they have the Testors Craft line of spray paints, and they stock a decent selection of X-Acto stuff too. A while back I scored a MPC Knght Rider kit for something like $5 in the clearance aisle. I think that's the only kit I've ever purchased there. ? -
Meijer's has models again.
Don Sikora II replied to 2000-cvpi's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The Meijer by me has had kits in the past, and did bring them back once after dropping them a year or so before. When they came back the kits were easy to miss because they were located near the puzzle section, not in the aisle with the Hot Wheels and other diecast cars. I remember the kits here having dedicated shelf space, not as part of a special shipper like the Round2 ones at Wal-Mart recently. The last time kits were dropped at my local Meijer was in the aftermath of the Hobbico implosion, which undoubtably caused problems with restocks. -
I've accumulated many of these stackable GLIS organizers, and agree they are near perfect for storing and organizing parts. When I first discovered these maybe 10 years ago, they had removable dividers and were even handier.

Can't say it with certainty, but I'm pretty sure this is the most recent issue.

Revell Hot Rod Series of models

I think Revell released 44 Hot Rod kits. Some releases contained two or three models. There is definite gaposis between the spoiler in USA-1 and the newly tooled Grumpy's body, but it generally fits. Was a little tricky to hold it in place and take a pic, so the gaps along the sides aren't obvious here. Some time spent adding a little plastic to close the gaps should be rewarded with improved fit and appearance.

Parts ID Help, Please
Don Sikora II replied to Casey's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I'm relatively sure it's from the Revell pro-street C4 Corvette kit #7457. I get about .285 for the OD on my mint parts, so it's probably the same. The Monogram '86/'87 C4 Corvette convertible might have used a similar taillight as well, but my kit isn't handy to look at. -
On hand supplies question
Don Sikora II replied to Keef's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Evergreen sells "Odds and Ends" (item #9002) that is a half pound of random styrene that likely is cut offs from their sheets and shapes. If you're starting out and not exactly sure what you need, this might be a good place to start and MSRP is less than $10 so it won't break the bank. -
Need Help To I.D. Wheels and Tires
Don Sikora II replied to TooOld's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I don't think those BF Goodrich tires are from the Monogram '59 Cadillac, or any other Revell-Monogram kit. Wild guess....could they be from one of the Arii '57-'58 Cadillac kits or the Chinese copies of those kits? -
The 1993 reissue in particular is still very affordable. You can probably get a sealed one for less than a new reissue would cost.

MPC '76 to '78 AMC Pacer X...not 100% sure about the smallest piece though, it might not go with this.

Testors 'Car Colors' from ca.1984

Hosted on Fotki I remember when this line of paints came out, and was lucky that my local shop stocked them. Bought this can at Model Empire a few years back.
