HPI Guy Monogram Bel Air Gasser Build
Don Sikora II replied to Daddyfink's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
The Badman was originally released in 1969 and it had red windows. At some point in the 1970s the windows switched to clear...likely when the original illustrated box was replaced with the familiar photo box as shown in your post. -
With the fishing boat? It's the 1/24 Monogram glue kit. The only SnapTite Bronco that I remember was 1/32 scale.

Cool! Looking forward to this kit.

Will it have the clear side windows like the original?

Plastic Tires
Don Sikora II replied to Mike 1017's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The snap Camaro Z28 was issued with CHiPS licensing. Revell also issued a glue "Z28 Police Car" with (if I remember correctly) CHP decals. That one has rubber tires and is based on the Travolta Fever Firebird tooling so the body has the custom fender flares. -
Anyone used this chrome marker?
Don Sikora II replied to Monty's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The Mr. Hobby Gundam chrome marker is the best chrome pen that I've found so far. It does have an angled tip. I bought it at my local Hobby Lobby. https://www.hobbylobby.com/Crafts-Hobbies/Model-Kits/Paint-Brushes/Plated-Silver-Gundam-Marker-EX/p/81054693 Unfortunately Mr Hobby stuff isn't labeled well in the US. Some of the pens/markers are opaque and others are transparent so they can be tricky to buy if you don't know exactly what you're looking at. Still, I've become a fan of the Gundam markers. The trick I've found with Molotow and this Gundam pen are to "bake" the parts after application to help the chrome ink dry throughly which seems to help make the surface more resistant to fingerprints. I've had good results doing this in my old food dehydrator and my new Micro Mark Doctor Dry Booth that I recently picked up after the dehydrator finally gave up. Doctor Dry Booth isn't a cheap date, but after a friend raved about his I dug deep and have been very happy with it. -
Yes, it's this kit.

The description on Revell's website says the decal sheet includes five different colors of the exterior graphics and all three colors of the L/S Conteur interior graphics that the factory offered.

Hmmm.....freak. I'm going to guess it's the altered-wheelbase '65 Chevelle kit. With that chassis, reissues of the '64 F-85 "Streaker" funny car and '58 Edsel funny cars would be possible.

What to thin enamels with for airbrush?
Don Sikora II replied to dawgvet's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I've had my best results with Testors Model Master Airbrush thinner. It works great with any Testors enamels I've tried it with, along with vintage Pactra 'Namel. Not sure if it's still available from Testors, but a few years ago you could get it at Hobby Lobby. -

microscale liquid decal film??
Don Sikora II replied to oldr-n-drt's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Just brush it on the whole sheet with a relatively wide brush, and keep brushstrokes to a minimum. I use it straight from the bottle, no thinning required. It looks VERY heavy when you brush it on, but it dries to a very thin and very smooth film. Great stuff! -
J4 is a Revell Halibrand. Not easy to tell from the pic, but I believe this example is from an original-issue '56 Chevy. I'm 99% sure only the original included these wheels (and then, only two of them). K1 is Hubley Mercedes 300SL. Kit was reissued by Entex, Revell-Germany, and possibly other companies.

Group B #3, I believe this is a custom wheel from AMT's '65 Corvair.

At my local store some of the Evergreen strips and rods were marked on clearance, but not all of it. No sheet plastic on clearance either. So I'd guess they are changing the assortment they will stock.

Smaller bumper might be the rear from a late MPC Dodge van. There was a '82 (I think???) annual called Ram Van or similar that was molded in red.

Yes, that's the original issue.

I'm pretty sure the valence in the picture with all the consoles is from an AMT '74-'77 Camaro. Also pretty sure that the console next to the triangular yellow piece is from the Revell '64 Impala SS.
