Oops! Looks like I was wrong about the trim. Sorry, Emmanuel. I didn't know there were differences in trim that year. Sam

That looks great! Love those old Mopars! One nit pick: the chrome strips on the sides look way too wide compared to the photo on the box. Good work, though! Sam

Thanks for all the compliments, guys! Sometimes the quick and simple builds come out better than the long, laborious ones! Sam

Beautiful Bee! Great color and really clean! Nice work! Sam

Flintstone body from ebay. Good body - very little cleanup needed.

This was a quickie curbside build using a resin body and a simple scratch built frame. 25 T interior tub cut down (still doesn't quite fit perfectly), 25 T headers, 40 Ford front axle, parts box wheels, etc. Testors medium blue paint, Krylon maroon interior. Simple build, but fun to do!

A definite improvement to the design! This should be killer when it's done! Sam

Here's another quickie curbside build from me. Flintstone resin 27 T tracknose roadster body on a homemade sprue frame. Front axle from a 40 Ford, no rear axle (can't see it when it's on my dioramas). 25 T headers and interior, cut down to fit. Parts box wheels, etc. Should be done in a day or two. I like simple builds! Sam

Great save! They both look like winners! Good work! Sam -
Every other El Camino I could find was in the $50 range, so I took this one.

Ditto what he said!

I scored this 59 El Camino from eBay for $24 and free shipping. It's an original issue kit from the 1960's, built, but never painted. It's all there - no missing parts. Not messed up with glue or junky customizing parts. The only real blemish is a huge tire burn on the bed cover - must have had a tire laying there for years! Not a problem, as I don't intend to use the bed cover. I plan to repaint it red and white, and use the custom grille from the Revell 59 Impala convertible, if it fits. Maybe lower it a little, and use some different wheels and tires - something like the third photo. Should be fun!. Sam

Here is a quick build I just did for fun. I had this 56 ford gasser body for decades, then rusted it up and sat it beside the garage in this diorama. I found a 56 on ebay missing its body and used the chassis and interior plus some parts box wheels and front axle to make a complete car. It represents an abandoned and rusting gasser found in a field. The guys at the garage are planning to restore it over the winter! Fun project!

Chopped 49 Mercury wagon - now with teardrop
Sixties Sam replied to Sixties Sam's topic in Model Cars
Harry, my original idea was to have dark wood sides with lighter wooden framing like the Merc, but I just got lazy! This was much easier to build. Sam -
Very nice! I like the slant 6 and weathering. Looks like a car a teenager would have driven in the 1990's - bought from his grandfather! Sam

That's totally nuts - in a good way! It definitely is different, and I would NOT have the guts to ride it if it was real! Sam

eBay for Parts, What Do You Buy?
Sixties Sam replied to Skip's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I buy most of my kits from ebay (cheaper than the LHS (Hobbytown)), and have bought several resin bodies to combine with my parts box stuff. Got a couple $5.00 glue bombs that I rebuilt, and a couple sets of wheels/tires. I look for cheap buy it now items, or auctions about to end with no bids, and get some items pretty cheap! Yes, I'm a tightwad! Sam -
Looks great! I like the color choices. Very well done. I remember having a 60 Lincoln hardtop model. I brush painted it tan with a black top. It wasn't pretty, but hey, I was 11 years old! Sam

Beautiful Nomad! The colors are great and very well done. Great foil work. The foil on the cargo floor is a nice touch. Excellent build! Sam
