  1. Actually, Ray, I had second thoughts about that nose piece, but I didn't want to take it off and have to repair the glue marks it would leave! Sam
  2. I finished the Corvair today. Not the best job, but after that paint debacle, I just wanted to git 'er done! Comments, good or bad, welcome! Sam
  3. I use CA glue, but not the water-thin kind. The thicker stuff will form a drop on the end of the wire, then carefully insert it in the hole. Sam
  4. Very cool! Sam
  5. Excellent build, Harry! Great details and lots of character! Sam
  6. Very nice Mustang! Not many models of that vintage around. Good work! Sam
  7. David and Jay, I'm using the stock Corvair engine with 4 carbs in its stock position (not mid-engine). I added plug wires. Carl, - stock taillights, too, but I might paint the rear panel where the lights and license plate are black or silver. Paint update: I just sprayed on a coat of Krylon pumpkin orange. Looks good so far, although it's a lighter shade than I used before. Thanks for your interest guys! Sam
  8. Sweet! Great color scheme, and well done. Sam
  9. I used this custom nose piece I had from an old Corvair kit from the 1960's.
  10. I found photos of a customized Corvair that I liked and decided to make something like it, but keeping the rear engine. The real one has a front-mounted V8. I got a Corvair kit from eBay and modified the body by enlarging the wheel openings and making fender flares from styrene sheet. I painted it orange, but the spray can nozzle kept clogging up and the paint came out looking more like orange snot than paint! After a day in the purple pond, it's ready to try again with different orange paint. I lowered the suspension a little and replaced those 13" wheels with some larger ones from my parts boxes, and added a nose from an old Corvair kit. Comments and ideas are welcome! Here's my inspiration. Body before painting.
  11. Very nice! The hood straps are a nice touch. The OD color is cool! Sam
  12. Very cool! I like the wrapped exhaust pipes and the cowl vent. Good work! Sam
  13. Beautiful Fords, all of them! Excellent work! Sam
  14. That is a really well done model! Great details on the chassis and under the hood! Superb work! I did one similar a while back, converting the hardtop into a base sedan sleeper with a 413, but yours is much nicer! Sam
  15. Very well done! It's nice to see one built stock. Good work! Sam
  16. I picked up a Dodge L-700 tilt cab at the State College, PA Ollie's. I'm not sure what I'll do with it, since I'm not a truck modeler, but for $7.99 I couldn't resist! Sam
  17. Great save! The colors are cool - very mid-50's! Sam
  18. Beautiful classic car! Great model! Sam
  19. Very nice! Cool color, and I like the six. That kit should have come with a six. I built one a while back and installed a Ken Kitchen 6-banger in mine. Nice work on this one! Sam
  20. Great work on this truck! The weathering is very realistic, and gives the model much character! Nice! Sam
  21. Very nice model and full scale 'Vairs! My first car (in 1970) was a 65 Corvair convertible. Four-carb 140 engine with the crummy Powerglide AT. I built a model of it back then and rebuilt it a few years ago. I cut the top off a coupe to make it. I added a resin uptop from Modelhaus in the rebuild. Here's a pic.
  22. Wow....just wow! I'll have bad dreams tonight! That first one is just awful! Sam
  23. Very cool rat! Nice chop and weathering! Lots of character! Sam
  24. Very nice! I like the color with the red wheels. Cool backdrop too! Sam
