strecheing frames on snap kit's??
Porky replied to clayton's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Hey Jim Not sure if they ever made any or not but I thought it would look cool, never finished it though. I set the front axles too close together never thought it looked right so I removed the extra front axle to relocate it and never done anything else to it. Maybe one day. -
strecheing frames on snap kit's??
Porky replied to clayton's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Hey Clayton I just uploaded some pics of a 1/32 chassis that I streched out to a tri axle twin steer, I am not gone load all the pics here but they are in my photobucket at this link http://s821.photobucket.com/albums/zz138/porky_45/1-32%20Scale%20Truck%20Projects/#!cpZZ1QQtppZZ16 Check them out, might help some. I think the 1/32 snap kits chassis is alot easier to stretch then the 1/25 stuff. -

Hello Not sure but it looks like one of my extended cabs, if so you can get them at http://www.ppvintagekits.com/index.html just shoot me an e-mail through the link on the site to order one, I don't list that set on e-bay much anymore. -
Hey Guys I build some 1/32 scale trucks and was talking to Jerry at modeltrucking yesterday and this morning about decals for them. I am pretty sure that he can make anything on his site in 1/32 scale for you if you ask him, he is a great guy to deal with as well.

Cummins KTA-600 Engine Kit 1/25 Scale
Porky replied to Porky's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Hey Dave I am pretty sure you are right on the 1973 production date as the first year for the KTA engine, not sure when they stopped putting them in trucks though. I checked out the engine you are doing, very nice. I would be interested in doing them for you I think, just let me know. Hey Jim If I have a bit of time I will see if it fits in the W900 kits and a few others, I would think for sure all the ext. hoods will be OK for it, it might be a bit long for some of the standard hoods, maybe. It really is not too much bigger than the other kit engines it just has a lot more detail. -

Porky replied to Porky's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Hey Everybody I built up one of the engines today to see how they go together, it all went together pretty good. Still a few parts that I have not installed, AC Compressor and bracket, turbo elbows and the alternator, not going to install those parts until I figure out what I am going do with the engine ( what it is going in ) it was a bit large for the first truck I tried it in,,, OK that was just a joke, here are the pics of the engine -

Hey Clayton I am not sure who made that shuttered grill I was selling with your hood and fenders either, I do have the master part for it though. I got it when I bought all the master parts from Brad Lawson, he may have made the grill. The mold for it went out so I started including the Bill Signs grill with the hood conversion. I am working on some new shuttered grill masters for the 359, 379 and the 358 grills but I am making them so the shuttered center section will be a separate part from the outer grill shell. I figured that way if someone wanted to paint the shutters a diff. color it would be much easier to do. Robby Gains is working on a stock ext. hood for the RG 359's but I think he has it about finished up, after that one he is going to do the ext. hood for the little window cab and maybe a little window cab with a walk through back panel, if so I will cast it and the standard day cab version. -
Cummins KTA-600 Engine Kit 1/25 Scale
Porky replied to Porky's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Hello Dave Thanks for the good words on the engine. Also let me know how yours turns out, not sure I need two KTA's though. On the hoods, my ext 359 hood is for the rev /ger kits, it is just a bit wide for the old little window cabs. I do know a guy that is going to make a stock type ext. hood for the little window cabs though and as soon as it is done he is sending it to me to cast, just not sure on the time frame yet. I will be casting a little window cab as well ( was going to do it anyway for the 358 tilt hood I cast. -

Thanks, Chris Cass done an over the top job on the engine masters, the pic disc came with the master parts from him so I can't really take credit for that either but it was a cool idea on his part. Maybe we can do that for the rest of his parts as well when we offer them. -

Porky replied to Porky's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Hey Ray & Jerry Thanks for the good words, it is a killer engine. We thought the ref. pics would be good and something I have not saw anyone else doing. The disc also has a step by step assembly guide, block halfs together painted them black, glue on the next part and take a pic with the new part in white then paint that part black and so on though the entire build so the added parts show up well. -

Hey Ray Man that thing is looking great with the orange paint, I Like It !!! The under cab detail work is over the top, really nice work. Can't wait to see this one finished up. -
Hey Doug I have some of the headlights that look very close to that left over from when I was casting the IH9300 conversion. I would be glad to send you a couple pair if they would help you out. All I have are the headlight buckets though, I never did cast the lens for them. Could always use clear sheet stock to make the lens. Just let me know

im new to resins. where to start?
Porky replied to DrewCfromSC's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Hey Mark I have always soaked my resin in the purple stuff and never had a problem with it but I have only used the resin I cast in it and stuff from Bandit Resins, Kenny ( at Bandit Resins ) told me to use that when I first started casting so I have been with no issues. I have heard the horror stories about resin getting soft in it though. So I guess if I were gona use someone other than our resin parts I would try something else. -
Hey Felix Great job on the Buick, this has always been one of my all time fav cars.

Hey Mark You are right about the coat of the Evercoat, I think the quart I have now was about 45.00 when I picked it up a bit over a year ago. I have used maybe half of it to date but I was told as long as it is kept closed up and at a steady temp. not too hot or cold that it should have a much longer shelf life than you mentioned, Again this is what I was told. How would you know if the putty has went bad, just won't set up any longer ???
-
Hey Dave I feel you pain, I have 3 or 4 old projects that I started before I figured out what kind of body filler to use, I would get the body the way I wanted it, let it sit for awhile and then notice that the worked on places were not smooth anymore. Most of them are tossed in boxes now, guess I should drag them out one day, grind all that junk out and start again.
-
I myself know of one good place for the green putty, The TRASH CAN !!! I used it when I first started and about gave up on a few projects until the guys in my model club straightened me out as to what to use. I use Evercoat now and am a happy camper.
-
Looking Good !!! Paint work looks very slick. I like the color, what is it ???
