Interesting. So are you starting off using a die-cast with Bondo or do you carve these out of wood?
-
Nice and clean work. Great job on the paint work. Filling the pin marks (the little circles on the side pipes) next time would really help the looks of the build.

This is one of Revell's better kits for fit and finish. The headlight assemblies are supposed to go in from the back side of the headlight openings.

The resin one I bought didn't even look that good... -
Can't go wrong with the Gulf livery Ray. Nice work.

Thanks for the clarification, I saw your 914-6 and Cobra on Strata Sports and assumed you were a part of HRM. Harold does make some amazing parts. I have bought several of his detail up kits. I want to get one the 914-16 kits because I really like those little cars and its an awesome rendition. I just can't justify the expense to SWMBO... ________________ Thanks Ed. -

That is a terrific paint job. Outstanding work. I would like to try that myself but would need to practice a lot first. Tech isn't going to let you run with that big hole in the oil pan though.... -

Thanks guys, Thanks JC, the tires are HRM so you may have had a hand in producing them. -
Nice work. Looks used but restorable

You just need to change the license plate to Oklahoma and it will look just right. Nice build. Are those the kit wheels and tires?

Thanks, I am glad it's finished. I thought it looked really good until I took the pictures... then you can see little issues and my rough assembly of the little pieces. -

Moebius '65 Mercury Comet Cyclone news
Reeves Racing replied to Dave Metzner's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I bought one of those about 4 years ago, and it must of been cast at the end of the molds life because it was awful Wheel openings were misshapen it was twisted and the details were very worn away. I tried to use it but it wasn't up to the quality I wanted for the amount of effort I am going to put into this build. I'm not skilled enough to work with fixing a resin casting. So I eagerly wait on Moebius and have been for over a year... . -

Your information is correct. In fact the complete door assembly was interchangeable between 64/5 Falcons and Comets. -
True Mike, and reread my post as well and it sounded snarky and that wasn't the tone I meant. Sorry about that. I was at work when I typed that and I really didn't finish my thought. The other issue is all the rear ends are assumed to be 9" versions. An 8" rear end was also a Ford option with at least 2 more, could of been 3 more, rib configurations to throw into the mix.

I'm sure it will be a good kit. I'm just an impatient person. I was hoping someone might know what the issue is and have some intel on a firm eta. -
I think it's funny when someone picks apart a model part because they see one picture of said piece and think that was the only incarnation of said part. There are more rib formations on the Ford 9" center sections than the handful of parts from the different kits. Ford made them out of cast iron, nodular iron, the aftermarket did the same plus aluminum.

I have three of these kits on order. First the estimated release was mid November. That came and went and the revised estimated release was mid January. When I checked in today it says the estimated release is now mid MARCH... good grief... -
That looks terrific.
-
One of the best renditions of this kit I have ever seen.
-
Well they look convincing from this side of the monitor Calipers - schmalipers..... stopping is for wussies...
-
Great job, the paint looks terrific. Did the cross drilled rotors come with the kit too?

Great job on the paint effects. Who cares if it was a Challenger. You're doing a terrific job.
