Neat project. I am not real familiar with after market turbo setups, are the two tubes with the smaller flange on the header for the pop off valve?
-
That is really really cool. But with only 4 pounds of boost it probably would have been faster to put 3 carbs on it instead of the McCulloch blower.

Nice job. I just finished up a build of this kit myself.

Since the mini system that sprays the chrome finish starts out at $2200.00 not including the chemicals this probably isn't something most of us could practically do our selves so a tutorial really wouldn't be viable. On top of that you need to have a set up to spray the base coat and clear too. Google Cosmichrome and you can learn a little about it on their web site. http://goldtouchinc.com/cosmichrome-systems/ Your best bet is becoming friends with someone who does it professionally and having them shoot a couple of body shells for you... lol. -
It's the one from Detail Master JC. I was trying to use all the buckles and pieces but they are too small for me to work with so I took the minimalist's approach and just did the basic straps with the ends. I just couldn't get the adjusters together. Someone should offer a preassembled version like the prewired distributors.

Wow that looks terrific. Nice work shading the windshield.

Thanks friends, my friend Shane has a spray chrome business and painted chrome on the body for me. It turned out good but the Comichrome is too thick for small scale models. You can see it on the side louvers. But I am still happy with it because its a little different than most builds of this kit. -

I knew the pictures I had were of a tribute car because of the cut off switch above the tail light. I had only seen the pictures of the tribute car and really didn't care if was an "actual" car he ran so this new picture is really cool. Thanks! I had the kit and the Slixx decals and liked the car so I built it. lol I'm not a rivet counter or that interested in exact replicas. Race cars change through out the year, I have had to replace or change decals on my own race car because they started peeling off or changed to a different manufacturer for a part. I don't think I have ever gone a complete racing season with the same exact decals on my car. My dad has used 3 different hood scoops in one season, so which scoop was correct if you were to build a model of his car? A picture of a race car is just that, a snap shot of the car at that moment in time. A fender gets dented, an area needs repainted, and the decals change. Some times colors change. It's just fun to make a model of what you like. -
Moebius '65 Mercury Comet Cyclone news
Reeves Racing replied to Dave Metzner's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Yeah JC its not super fast but its a fun little weekend racer. I thought the same thing about the T Bolt top. I have a resin body that I originally started to use to build a copy of my car but the quality of the casting wasn't worth all the work and I quit working on it. I was trying to use the T Bolt top on that one and I made the mistake of using epoxy which also made the build go south. The top looks right so I bought another T-Bolt to use as a donor and have a lot of the parts and decals ready I just need Moebius to release their Comet kit and I'm off to the races. -
1970 Challenger Dick Landy's Super Stock
Reeves Racing replied to Reeves Racing's topic in Model Cars
1. You mask off the area to be painted. 2. You spray clear to seal the tape edges and let it dry. 3. You spray your color and let it dry. 4. You carefully remove the mask and lightly sand the edges. 5. This is the most important step. You carefully apply the Slixx decal pin stripes per the instructions. Lol, I'm a good painter but I'm not that good. -

The 71 Challenger Prostock with the big scoop was painted with navy blue and orange stripes. I have never seen brown on that car. Dick also ran silver base with red and blue stripes on some of his cars. Hope this helps. -

Hi Vince, this was my inspiration. I don't think this car was in the prostock class but the superstock class. -

This is the Gunze Sangyo curbside kit of the Austin Healey Sprite. I cut the hood loose and used some sheet shock to finish up the engine compartment. I cut out the molded in engine underside and used a 289 from the parts box. The wheels are from the newly re released Opel GT kit and the tires are from a Revell BMW 320i kit The fenders got some bodywork to bring them out a little around the wheel openings. Parts box decals and Duplicolor paint. The seat belt hardware came with the kit but I changed to red belt material.

I tried all the techniques including a coat of Future. I had to strip it every time (3 times). I have painted red plastic before but this one was relentless. I won in the end though because of great friends in the modeling community and Sublime green... I'm going to make a Sam Posey road racer out of the red one. -

Thanks so much for the pictures. I can't wait for this kit to come out. I am going to have to covert it to a sedan post but that will some of the fun. -
