  1. Very cool. Well done
  2. Great build. really like this one.
  3. Nice Mark, I hope I mine turns out that good. I am going to have to slow myself down when I build mine. My impatience really hurts my builds sometimes. Do think there is a good way to lower the suspension a little to fill the "air" in the wheel wells during the build up?
  4. There is "no hatin" coming from me Rom. I thought you wanted honest comments. You know I posted a Hayden Proffitt 62 Belair a while back, probably my best effort to date. Not THE best but MY best. One comment was just "what about the mold seam on the radiator?". It stung but you know what I did. I fixed the mold seam on the radiator. I got your PM. I really don't think I need to call you. Its really not that big of a deal to me. Open forums are all about opinions. Sorry my opinion of your model got your shorts in such a knot... I won't post in your threads any more.
  5. That looks great!.
  6. Very cool car. Nice crisp detail painting.
  7. Yeah the die cast comment was rude. Sorry about that. But just the same It looks like a huge amount of work for a VERY unrealistic looking car. Too bad really. The paint and detailing are far superior to my building ( You say you would like to see some of my builds, seems a MOD would be able to search and find all my posts??) but just the same the final result looks like a toy not a real race car. You have a lot of talent but you missed on this one. I just didn't feel like blowing smoke up your fanny... I will add that part of the problem with for me not liking this one is that personally I am really tired of Pro Mod builds, They have been done to death and they are misshapen ugly door slammer funny cars with the same blob shape and painted on grills and lights. If I am allowed to voice my true opinion that is...
  8. Is this a diecast toy? The hood is so high the driver wouldn't be able to see and the fit between the fenders and the doors is aweful.
  9. Tamiya paints aren't availble around my neck of the woods. I usually use Duplicolor or MM lacquers. I thought the majority of Tamiya's paints were acrylics. But that's because I have never used them. Are you going build the car with opening doors?
  10. Are you using all acrylics? I have this kit and will be using your build as a tutorial. Thanks for posting this. I like your WIPs and your work is very crisp.
  11. Ah yes, the Vega's sister with better make up... Looks good.
  12. Well this kit may be pig but the car I modeled is one of my favorite Prostock cars of all time. The checkered paint job is just so cool. It dates the car but I don't care. This is the Johan kit with Slixx's decals and some rear wheels from a Monogram 69 Camaro kit traded for from Chuck. The paint is Testers One Coat Lacquer "Inca Gold" with a fade using Duplicolor "Autumn Maple" I used Duplicolor clear which was a little too hot for the Slixx decals and it wrinkled them. I tried not to go too heavy to fast but it did anyway. The chassis is the worst with no steeing linkage and molded in everything. I cut out the leaf spings but just brush painted everything else. I did cut off the round front wheel houses and added some fender aprons from the parts box to make it look more like a Comet under the hood. The engine is from the kit and it is nicely detailed with a seperate bell housing, transmission, seperator plate and nice detailed molding but has a GM starter?? I wired it and ran fuel lines. The wheels and front bumper were stripped of chrome and re-done with Alclad II. The front wheels are from the kit and I had to add the lug nuts and the tires are from the kit too. It was a fun build.
  13. Thanks Roger, I know which decals you are talking about now. I am going to get my self a set. I will be happy if my build turns out half as nice as yours!
  14. That is very sharp. Very tastefully done.
  15. What ever the issues with the kit were, it didn't matter.... You did an OUTSTANDING job! Just beautiful. Thanks for posting.
  16. P E T A ... People Eating Tasty Animals? Great pictures and I am sure no Squirrels were injured in the making of those still pictures...
  17. Thanks guys, compared to a lot of the builds on here it's nothing spactacular but I put a lot of effort in to this one. The 62 Chevy is one my favorite big bodied cars. My dad races a 63 Biscayne and I love these old Chevy's. I saw a restored version of this car run a pass at a Nostalgia Drags event a couple of years ago.
  18. I love Landy's Prostocks. I want to do his Challenger that has a similar paint job. Yours looks spot on. Is it all paint or did you find or make some decals?
  19. Great job, I just finished up the Hayden Proffitt version of this kit. One of AMT's best offerings. Yours looks super.
  20. This is a mostly box stock build of the AMT Dave Strickler 62 Bel Air kit. I added plumbing, carb linkage and wiring to the engine compartment and used the Proffitt Slixx decals. The paint is DupliColor Victory Red on the body and MM Italian Red on the interior. The decals on the seats are home made. I also added some brake backing plates to the wheels and some PE wire seperators.
  21. It reminded me of the Griswald's "Wagon Queen Family Truckster" to ... or at least what it looked like after the trip...
  22. Wow great paint job! Very nicely done.
  23. The drag race versions of this kit have the raised spindles. It's might be a tad too high but it gives it the right flavor. The only mods I made where to add some detail pieces. The drag version comes with the headers, slicks, and parts to do a 409 or a Z11 427. It's a pretty good kit. I saw a restored version of this car back in 09 at a Rod Run and Nostalgia Drags here in Kansas. Hayden even took it down the strip for a pass for grins. He was a lot easier on it than I'm sure he was back in the day...
  24. Thanks guys, this is most effort I ever put into engine detail that didn't look like I globbed it up with glue. I filed down the mold seam on the radiator (it looked worse in the tight pictures than in life) and painted the tank semi gloss for some contrast. I forgot to mention I used PE plug wire holder/separators too. Not really, it is one of AMT's finest offerings. This was the Strickler version with Slixx decals. I wish the front end was a little more detailed but over all I think this is a great kit, Here are the out side pictures
