  1. Hey guys, I am trying to paint the interior of my Arnie Beswick Catalina, I know it has 3 shades of blue, does anybody here know which shades to use and what paint? I have seen a few pictures of this model and it's interior in a few model car contests and would love to know what I can use to do mine correctly.
  2. Thanks Dan, looks like it was a great show!
  3. Ok. So who took pictures? Thread is worthless without pictures!
  4. I think it all depends on how you look at it, to me, a well built and clean model means everything to me specially because I lack the expertise or talent to create models, I am more of a collector. I personally buy from one of the forum members here, don't want to say his name because as he says "I don't build to sell" or in other words, I don't want to make this a job. One thing I will tell you though, I love his stuff and would still pay more if I had to. Only a collector can appreciate how much effort is put into these kits!
  5. I might just start something myself, think I have some time. Is this buildoff for fun only, any prizes or something?
  6. Thing already looks awesome, hope to see this WIP!
  7. You are right Mr. Sauber, there is so much to look at on this build, from the immaculate paint job, to the interior and every little correct detail he added to it. Cruz, I have always admired your work, you always take time to make a model look correct, something that's never easy. There are a lot of talented builders in here, you are one of the best in my book, thanks for sharing this with us.
  8. Incorrect body lines? I also thought this kit was 100% right! Anyway, superb job Cruz, as usual, you did great on this kit, from the crisp panel lines to the detailed engine bay, you really set the bar high on this one. Tires look to be a lot better than the ones on the kit which are just garbage, you did well in painting the Good Year logos on them. Correct body or not, I am buying at least 2 more of them and keeping all the building info that you shared, thanks for this!
  9. I was looking in Google, under images and found out that there was a review of this kit with it's build by Bill Coulter and Len Carsner a few month's back and let me tell you, with all due respect to these guys, your build is definitely more impressive, you should have done the review for this thing. Below is the actual link to that build which I thought was great specially at the time it came out which was a little before the actual model was available. http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://s3i.dotphoto.com/i168DF416-65EF-45B0-A815-C1B3C2AC2CA9.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php%3Fshowtopic%3D24910&usg=__7zbKvLaKPPNr8hkvZaurR-Zrjx8=&h=360&w=480&sz=38&hl=en&start=49&sig2=ZHbl8fKIxB_mAT9wnNP22w&itbs=1&tbnid=Iyi4DYBtPkEkCM:&tbnh=97&tbnw=129&prev=/images%3Fq%3D1972%2Bhurst%2Bolds%26start%3D42%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26gbv%3D2%26ndsp%3D21%26tbs%3Disch:1&ei=8a_ES478J9fisAbyxfz-DQ Can't wait to see this thing finished, attention to detail is very good on this one.
  10. Hey Cruz, how did you get the look on the lines on top of the roof? They look just like the real ones with the overlap and all.
  11. Thanks for clearing this, never thought about it that way. They look so smooth that it looks like part of the painted body.
  12. This is really crazy! I love it.
  13. Can't wait to see more of your work man, always an inspiration.
  14. You are a BMF master my friend, love the way you always place it around the wheel wells. The white and gold just looks amazing and makes this thing pop. Did you clear the decals? They look so smooth!
  15. I was just given this kit, sure is nice. Don't know when I will be building it though.
  16. I am very happy that Cruz just started on his, sure is the best way to see where the flaws of this kit will be. I paid 24 dollars for mine, thought it was a high price but then again, it's hard to get some kits around my way.
  17. I think I will stick with the Alclad, it's been pretty good to me. I will surely try this method only when or if it becomes easily available to us here in the states.
  18. Oh man Cruz, I am so excited to see you doing this kit, I just bought one and was eager to see some brave soul start on one, of course, what I am really saying is that I will be copying off of you! One thing though, I think that you are forgetting that the kit comes with an additional part for the center of the grill. I believe you scraped the chrome off the grill without knowing this? Did you add the piece to the grill? Anyway, I sure will be following this one as I am sure it will turn out as great or even better than that Caddy you just finished! Sorry for pointing out what I beleive is something you probably forgot.
  19. Very professional, clean and detailed work.

    '59 Caddy!!!!

Now your'e talking, even though I prefer the shade of blue on the outside pictures, this ones show a bit more of the BMF work. Truly amazing man!
  22. Just because the guy sells a few DVD's doesn't mean his method is the correct one, we all have our ways of doing things. One thing is certain, you must have a slightly rough surface so that the primer sticks well....

Hey Cruz, I went into your Fotki page and found some interior shots of the car that I loved. You see, the ones you took outside are nice but the Bare Metal Foil work doesn't show much. The inside shots show this much better, you should include some of them here seeing that you went through so much work with the BMF. What do you think?
  24. Hey guys, I was reading a recent thread that suggests to bring back a few builds from the dead in the forum, you know, models that are worth bringing back for their beauty and details. What do you think? Which ones were your favorites at the time? I will be looking later and re-posting some. Please, post your favorites!
