  1. Thank you for sharing the link that conversion calculator, James! I could see that coming in handy from time to time when I'm too lazy to break out the 'traditional' calculator.
  2. I have an idea... I'm gonna try to stay in 'spirit' with the Twelve Days of Christmas song, so... on this second day, I'm gonna name two people, tomorrow will be three and so on. *Clears Throat* ....Ahem... "On the second day of Christmas, MCM gave to me... Harry P and Doctor Crankeeeeeeey...." Harry, you are an AWESOME mod! I love the fact that you let people voice their opinions which are sometimes in 'conflict' with other's (without immediately locking the thread), yet you also have this outstanding ability to recognize when "enough is truly enough" and put your foot down at just the right time. Also, I really enjoy your comments and sense of humor. And, last but not least, you share a lot of cool material, and the "R.O.M." and "What kind of car is it?" challenges are a blast! Virgil, you, my friend are just one truly unique (in a GREAT way) character. You post MANY comments and opinions which are very enjoyable to read, and many times very helpful. Your builds are ALWAYS awesome and I've learned so many tips and techniques from you that REALLY help me with my own projects. Also, I know it's not exactly part of the forum... but, I totally enjoy your youtube videos which let your unique personality and great sense of humor really shine through!
  3. LOL! I remember that thing! I bet his front springs weren't very happy that day...
  4. AMEN! Very well stated.
  5. Now that's funny! I get the same "Hoarders" comment from mine every once in a while! I can totally picture Cranky on the show in tears as they're trying to convince him to put his '50 Chevy pickups out in the lawn for sale.
  6. This thread is making me LOL! I have a crazy confession myself... I used Super Clean on some of my mowers over the summer. edit: oh yeah and, I know it sounds crazy, but I topped off my master cylinder res. with some brake fluid too!
  7. To keep it short... YES!!! We had a discussion like this about a year ago (or so)... and someone got a kick outta this pic, so I'll share it again for you guys: Gotta go drop the kid off at school... Be back in a bit.
  8. Thanks for the info, Craig. I was thinking that was probably the case, as the Skip's car looks like it was made from some rather old tooling. Maybe I'll give her a shot one day, but in the meantime, I'm gonna go with your suggestion and pick up a "New" one for now.
  9. I love the idea, Darin! I would like to use my "first day" to thank Gregg for this AWESOME place for us to meet, share builds, tips, suggestions, etc... So, this first day goes to you, bud! Mahalo nui loa! p.s. I'm gonna try to keep it at one person per day as suggested, but I have a feeling my 12th will most likely have many people named! Also, I will be doing these in no particular order of "favoritism", so if you end up being named as my 10th, 11th or 12th, it DOES NOT at all mean that I like the others I named before you "better".
  10. http://youtu.be/4xU-rJNgoWU
  11. VERY NICE BUILDS, Felix!!! You are certainly one very TALENTED builder! I wish I could crank out that many in a year (with that kind of Beautiful QUALITY). I think I need to start finishing some of the MANY projects that I've put aside that are now taking up space all over my building room!
  12. Thanks for that, Austin! Looks like a cool site.. I'll have to check it out later. Jesse, your best bet is to start cruising through the forums here. There is soooo much EXCELLENT info on just about anything I can think of relating to model car building and customizing. Just gotta start digging! There's hidden treasure ALL OVER this place!
  13. I REALLY want one of the "New" Revell '55s after reading all of the great reviews on it and seeing some of the Doc's youtube videos with them in it (or maybe it was one video...the one for that 'build contest'). Being one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE cars, I've been wanting to build one forever. I have the R/M 'Street Machine' version (the one w/ the clear hood scoop) and the proportions don't look right to me at all. I also have the "Skip's Fiesta"(?) version with the doors and everything opened up already (that one looks like it would put up a tremendous fight) and I never bothered with either of them. Once I get a few WIPs finished, I WILL be picking up one of the new ones.
  14. I think I'm too young to remember this kit. I don't recall ever seeing one and I've gone through quite a few "hand me downs" as a kid that were given to me by my father or uncles. However, It looks like an awesome kit if you can build something with it that resembles one of the cars on the box. I absolutely LOVE the box art!! I think it would make a really cool poster for my 'modeling room'.
  15. VERY, VERY COOL!! All of the details you've added look GREAT.. It looks just like the real one! Although I've always been more of a 'drag racer', I think these foxes make pretty sweet road racing cars too. Awesome cars you've built (the 1:24 AND the 1:1)! I'm still praying that someone will come out with a decent '87-'93 coupe so I can make a replica of my car.
  16. Another AWESOME build! The body mods, stance and 2-tone mesh perfectly with each other. This is one of those cars that looks like it's flyin' even when it's sitting still!
  17. Awesome in EVERY way!! Outstanding work! The paint work and color choice, stance, wheels and engine all look fantastic! Would you mind telling me which 'version' this kit is? I've been wanting to build one of these for a loooong time now and I LOVE everything about this one!
  18. Just wanted to say, thanks again guys for all of the comments! It really means a LOT to Emily...and me. She is SUPER HAPPY to see her car on the computer and hear me read all of your awesome posts. Em' is now REALLY "chompin' at the bit" for her next project! Like I was sayin', whatever she decides to go for next, she wants it to be 100% done by her (unless she needs a little hand, of course). Too bad they don't have a snap-tite "1st gen" S10 pickup... She could do a replica of my friend Jack's old work truck, painted with 'house paint' and a big brush! Whatever it is, we will be sure to share. Niko, I hear ya on the rims... I did try to stick some of the same 19" versions of these on the car and they just looked "lost" in the wheel wells. Guess, we just gotta "keep up with the times" when it's needed. The stock wheels on my sister's car look HUGE to me (19"), and it's just a base model 6-banger! Thanks again! Edit: Oh, Niko, forgot to tell ya... There are some "full glue kit" offerings (supposed to be out very soon) on the way. Hopefully, we can get our hands on some soon, as I've been working on a replica of my sister's car a little here and there for the past month or so. I have the gas door filled, front "mail slot" filled and the rest of the body work done (to make it look as correct as I can) and it's now ready for paint. I was thinking of waiting on the glue kit so I can get a correct looking interior for it... The Concept one is very different from the 1:1.
  19. Awesome idea on this one... and a most excellent job as always! I wouldn't mind doin' a couple hours of community service if we were transported in this bad boy! After looking at a few of your hotwheels creations, I was thinking... Would the old Aurora T-jet wheels fit on them? Or would they be too small? I remember playing with my dad's slot cars as a kid and using those really cool 'Hop-Up' aluminum wheel sets (The ones that screw onto the axle with a small lock nut behind them). I think a set of those 'Fats and Skinnies' might look pretty slick on a 'drag-oriented' hotwheels.
  20. Whoa!! That's a quite a bit of bodies. Looks like someone was having TONS-O-FUN!! AWESOME JOB as usual, Doc... They all look FANTASTIC! Thanks for sharing the yummy "Candy"! Sounds like you have EYE-GORE on one shoulder for sure... but who's on the other?
  21. VERY NICE BUILDS!! All of them!! I especially dig the Corvette. That thing is "Outta This World COOL"!!!
  22. Thank you so much for the kind comments! If only I could have captured the look on her face when I brought her home from school today and showed her the pics of her Camaro on the computer, with all of the comments under it! She can't quite read yet, but she can recognize and write her name (Thanks for sticking that in there, Jim ). I read all of the comments to her and it really made her day! She looked just like this: Again, everyone, thank you SO MUCH for all of the great comments! And.. it's great to hear about all of the newcomers we have to look forward to! Here's one more of Emily holding her "pride and joy" (any time someone comes over and goes near it, she runs over and says "Careful! careful!" LOL) Oh, and she promises everyone that her next one will be a "Hands off, Daddy!" build... and we will be sure to share that one as well!
  23. Can't think of much to say about this one other than... WOWEEEEEE!!!!! Gorgeous Wagon! I love everything about it... the Paint scheme, color choice and... ummm... EVERYTHING!! Simply Beautiful! :)
  24. I believe this may be the finest example of this kit I've ever seen built! BEAUTIFUL job! The color and decals look Awesome on this car, as well as the extra details you've added... Not too over the top, but definitely not lacking either! Looks PERFECT!! Thank you for sharing this beautiful '55! Ok.... I'm gonna scroll back up now and stare at it some more!
  25. SWEEEEET!! Thanks for sharing the good GREAT news, Bob! I'll certainly be picking up more than one of these. My thoughts exactly! I've been DYING for a chance at another 1/16th Funny Car kit (at a decent price, hopefully). I built one when I was like 7 or 8 and it was a major "blue metallic plastic and white bodied glue bomb". I wish I had the entire kit still, as I would try to restore it, but it's been through several moves, in storage for over 2 decades and is pretty banged up to say the least...also missing more than 3/4 of the parts.
