  1. *Wife walks into room...* "It's not what you think! I only like to look at the feathers...and read the articles..." ROFL!!! I like that!
  2. Hey guys and gals! A couple of weeks ago, I had to keep my 4 year old daughter home from pre-school because she had a bit of a cough left over from a rather nasty cold. She was pretty bummed out, so I took her for a ride down to Michael's to let her pick something out. Of all the cool things in the store to pick from, she "wanted to be like daddy" and get a model kit. It was a toss-up between this and the Revell snap 1/32 Fire Truck. She ultimately picked the Camaro because my sister had recently bought a 1:1 2010. I also let her pick out a testors rattle can color for it and we went home. I figured since the kit isn't a completely accurate depiction of the real production car, we would do a little bit of customizing. So, I let her pick out a set of wheels for it out of my big tackle box full of wheel & tire sets. I sanded the body, sprayed it in my booth and did some minor detail work (I didn't think it was a good idea to let her use the paints (lacquer and enamel) just yet... On her next one, though, I'll let her go to town with the water based acrylics). The next day, after everything was dry, we began assembly. Of course, I had to help her out with the build, but she was able to do a surprising amount on her own with little guidance. Anyway, here's what we came up with after a couple of days: I wasn't crazy about the wheels that she had picked at first (Pegasus 21" Hella's), but the more it came together, considering the "Retro Look" of the car, I thought to myself "These look kinda like what I would picture as 21st century rally wheels." I'm waiting on some ink for my printer (AGAIN!!)... but when I get it, we are going to make some "SS" center caps to cover the holes where the knock-offs would normally go. At least we lucked out with the custom NJ license plate with her name on it... It was pretty much the first thing we did for the model before "Mommy" wasted our ink with all of her college papers. I also cut some aluminum tubing for the tail pipes and showed her how to polish them up, (I thought the kit tail pipes looked terrible and stuck out like a sore thumb.) Sorry if I did a little too much rambling! I just had a BIG 'ol 24oz Cappuccino and now I'm like: Hope you guys enjoy!
  3. I think I have 4 that I would call "Finished". As far as mock-ups, 1/4 done, 1/2 done, 3/4 done, and everywhere in between... Let's just say I have a little problem there.
  4. I thought only Harry was allowed to do the Real or Model thing? On a serious note, those are some very AMAZING builds, Marcos!!! I LOVE all of them! Although, I've seen just about all of them on here before when you first built them, I wouldn't mind you sharing them once a week for the next several years! Thanks again for sharing... My mouth was feeling kinda dry and you've certainly just fixed that!
  5. Yeppers. Dave hit the nail on the head. Here's a few examples of different styles of chambers that I found doing a quick search for ya Eelco: (hope the image isn't too small to read) Mopar 426 would be like the one on the bottom left- BTW: That is a WICKED COOL looking motor!....and car! Never saw one before TBH.
  6. I'm gonna say REAL on this one. Everything looks just right on it.
  7. Thanks! I really, REALLY wish that I had bought more of those lifts while they were still available... It was from GMP, and for the past few years now, all they have is the lift for 1/18th scale. AFAIK, the 1/24th scale one is looooong discontinued.
  8. X2 I do make sure to get the complete underside of the body, though... especially, if it's molded in white and I'm doing thin coats of a lighter color. I do this just to make sure the black underside of a hood or wheel well doesn't darken the paint color on the outside. Also, I very rarely paint parts on the trees. I like to clean 'em up first and/or use for mock-ups before painting. Here's what I do when the part is ready for paint/detail: I buy skewers from the grocery store and put a dot of CA on the tip and stick the part to it (like a mounting tab or area that will be getting glued). Also, using this method... I can stick them in a hunk of foam or even a big old candle, if I need to spray them.
  9. LOL! Sounds like the MOST ridiculous trend yet...and I hope it never comes my way! Why not just put it on the roof instead, like the Ice Cream man? BTW, noise pollution is STRICTLY enforced in my neck of the woods. When I had my T/A on the road with a 3" SLP cat-back and (supposedly 50-state legal) Flowmaster muffler, I had a pile of tickets like John Milner... ALL for "loud exhaust".
  10. That came out BEAUTIFUL, Jim! GREAT JOB!! I love the color combo!
  11. Very, VERY COOL!!! This car has always been very close to the top of my "Awesome paint scheme" list. GREAT looking ride and Excellent job re-creating it! I was only 7 years old at the time (so forgive my memory if I'm wrong...), but wasn't this the same race that Richard Petty had that spectacular crash along the front catch fence?
  12. I posted this in another thread about a week ago that seems to have gotten buried... Not finished yet, but the plan is to keep everything bone stock on the "T", except the engine and trans. Did it more as a joke... Obviously, in reality, it wouldn't be too practical... I'd bet if it were real, and the ring and pinion and wheels would hold up, she'd do some pretty mean burnouts! LOL
  13. ROFL! Now, that right there is funny! Pretty wild looking ride for sure. Normally I'm not into "crazy" stuff like this, but I think this one actually looks pretty sweet... I'd take it for a spin!
  14. REALLY NICE!! Looks just like the hotwheels! I love the paint scheme and combo of the black, gray and red. Excellent work!
  15. WOW! 100mph is really cookin' and, although it's very cool, I have a few concerns about this thing myself... Kinda like Joe was saying... I wouldn't feel very comfortable with my neighbor's kids running this thing up and down the street on Christmas morning when they haven't even owned anything better than a Tamiya Blackfoot. I'd feel MUCH more comfortable with them getting a "Red Ryder BB gun"! Can you imagine this car steaming right into your ankle at full blast?!!
  16. LOL.. It does look like one! Reminds me of my sister's cat a little. Only, he's gray with a big ol' head to match his body. He's not really overweight, like the one in the picture, just a solid 20-25 lbs and built like a tank... and his "meow" is so deep sounding, it cracks me up. Funny pic though! His shape looks as if he swallowed a turkey whole! My kitty would NEVER do anything like that. She is soooo picky, that she won't eat anything but "Meow Mix", and... she has to see me pour it into her bowl first or she won't even touch it! Perhaps she has "Kitty OCD"...
  17. I WISH they would bring kits back to Wally world!! I spend a lot of time shopping at the new, HUGE one they built about 2 miles down the road from me. I remember the days when Wal-mart did have them... and every time I went, the selection got smaller and smaller... IMHO, they would still have them if only they had stocked stuff that people actually wanted. I'm planning on heading over there tonight, and if I do, I will let you guys know if I see anything.
  18. Colton, Welcome to the GREATEST Model Car Forum in the Milky Way galaxy! Don't sweat the small stuff.. All that we ask is to be respectful of ALL other members and try to make your posts so they are readable and understandable to other people. Spend some time proof-reading your posts before you hit the "post" button. I HIGHLY recommend using Mozilla Firefox as a browser... It has a LOT of awesome features, one being a built in spell checker. Also, try not to take other member's comments to heart. We had a thread a while back where we have all pretty much come to the conclusion that it is very easy to take someone's post the wrong way. (We are limited to communication through written text, which means, it may be hard to tell if someone is being "harsh", "sarcastic", or simply trying to be funny etc...) Again, WELCOME!! Give it a little time and you'll fit right in and love it here!
  19. Oh man! That stinks! (literally) Don't worry about the body for the moment and get that mess cleaned up! That is some NASTY stuff. Hope you were doing it outside... If you got any on you, clean up right away!!
  20. Agreed. In fact that is the best thing you could do IMHO. If the pictures don't show up and we see lines of code that are messed up, one of us will probably be able to spot where the trouble is. Just start trying to post pics right in this thread.
  21. Where do they fail to load to? Let's start at the beginning. You are able to get the pictures from your camera onto your computer, correct? If so, what kind of computer are you using and what operating system? (ie.. PC or Mac? Windows XP, Windows 7 or Mac OS?) The tutorial that Clay put together is pretty thorough and I highly recommend Photobucket, but if you guys are still having problems, I think the best thing to do is work together in this thread so anyone else having trouble can see it and get help as well. Edit: If you ARE able to get your pics onto photobucket, check out what Harry posted just before me. ^^^ All you have to do is click inside of the "IMG code" box and it will say "copied". Once that is done, Paste it where you want it to appear in your post.
  22. You're not trying to do this using the browser "back and forth" buttons are you? I think that would be a cause for that. Open a second window up for photobucket and KEEP your comment box open on the forum until your post is completely done. If you exit the forum page at all, you're gonna lose what you have written so far, AFAIK. Just a thought...
  23. VERY COOL build, Chuck! I think the Cragar wheel is a nice touch! Reminds me of my old '84 Trans Am that's sitting on the side of my driveway right now. It was sitting on four stockers with some pretty old, dry-rotted tires and one went flat a couple of months ago, so now it sits on 3 stock wheels and one nice, shiny Weld Pro-Star. The really funny and ironic thing is: The Weld wheel is on the left front! EXCELLENT job with the weathering, and the cracked windshield looks Perfect!! The 6-banger looks GREAT as well. All around, VERY nice build... I love it!!
  24. Waaaay too Cool!! I love this! AWESOME job so far! I thought it was done at first when I saw the last picture, and then read your post, and realized you're still "comin' out of turn four" with her... Can't wait 'til she "crosses the finish line" so we can see the rest of the bits and pieces you have yet to add!
