The Funny Quote Thread

"My Drinking Team has a Racing Problem..." Forget where I saw it (on some forum), but it always made me chuckle.. -
Wowee!!! This is a GREAT build! I LOVE it! Amazing skills here! I love he way you did the front wheels and the paint/detail is AWESOME! When I got to the last pic and noticed the driver's eyes, I just about died laughing!!! Thanks for sharing and hope to see more from you soon! Hmmm.. Maybe I should have wrote my whole post like this to match the build...

I think it could work if the gearing was set up right. If you Could build the trans and transfer case with a MASSIVE amount of gear reduction and then find ring and pinion gear-sets that were like 1.25:1, it would slow the driveshaft speed down a bunch. Just speaking theoretically... Also, you could split that driveshaft into like 3 pieces with two carrier bearings, that would help as well. But hey, It's a model, it looks AWESOME and I LOVE it!

G-Body Olds Cutlass in Plastic- Finally!
Wayne Buck replied to Casey's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yeah... LOL! Four lug and all! That's funny. I dunno.. I think the body looks pretty accurate. The stripe is definitely wrong though. -
I just became Ohana
Wayne Buck replied to my80malibu's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Congrats!!!! Bamp bamp, ba bamp... ba bamp bamp, ba bamp, I wanna be Ohana! You may not feel any "different" now, but I've heard once you reach Ohana status, you could experience some pretty terrible withdrawal symptoms if lose access to the forum or stop posting suddenly! I haven't experienced this first hand, but have heard from some very reliable sources. Be careful! -
Not a huge Volvo fan to be honest, but I do like some of them & those look pretty sweet to me! Especially the wagon. And I have seen some pretty SICK turbo ones in action. I even considered doing the "somewhat famous" Volvo head swap on my 2.3l Ford, but happened to find a great deal on an aluminum d-port head and went with that instead. Thanks for the cool pics, Chuck! Gotta love the Griswold Mobile. What a great movie! Mike... That made me laugh pretty good after I thought about it for a few seconds and got it!

Man... at first glance I thought to myself "Why is this even here? It's obviously real", but the more I look at it, certain things look "strange" to me. I zoomed in on it a bit and the truck seems to have a more "pixelated" look than the background does. The shading around the front fender and a few other areas don't look right to me and the tires look kinda ummm.. modelish? Also, something looks weird about the plow and the gravel to me... Of course it could just be this crumby laptop's graphics card messing with me. I need to look again at it on my gaming computer but my fiance will have that tied up all day (she's doing work for her college classes on it because her laptop can't handle it). I know the background is real, and if it is a model, boy is it nicely done! Also, whoever "merged?" the picture together did a darn good job. I'm gonna guess model for the heck of it (got nothing to lose really) even though my mind is telling me it's real. Wait, I got it! It's a real model 377 Peterbilt. LOL

Flooding! Update with Pics.....9/16/11
Wayne Buck replied to MrObsessive's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I second that. But, if you do end up needing anything for it, let me know. I have more small engines and parts in my shed, basement and attic than models! I work at home and about 1/4 of my income is from servicing mowers, power washers, lawn tractors, etc.. and I have a HUGE collection of mowers and parts. Every time I see one on someone's curb, in the back of my truck it goes! Seriously though, Bill, if ya need anything for that mower, don't hesitate to send me a message. Whatever you need, it's yours for free. The wifey says I really need to get rid of some junk anyway! Very glad to hear the news though, Bill. Yeah, it's gonna be a bit of a nuisance for a bit (judging by your pictures), but hopefully you'll be up and runnin' again before ya know it. Hope they get you a NEW furnace as well... Just keep telling them - I'm mad as hell, and I'm not gonna take it anymore! -
Really nice looking!! I've always LOVED those LT1 valve covers! I know it drives some people crazy when you paint aluminum heads, but I think it looks great! I bet she woke up quite a bit too, huh? I knew someone about 12-13 years ago (when I used to go to the "2:00am street races"), that had a '71 Chevelle and built a WICKED looking aluminum headed big block for it. Like 800hp+ naturally aspirated... One day my friend and I went to his house to see his new motor in the car and he had the whole darn thing painted Black, and I mean THE WHOLE THING, from intake to oil pan. Even had his new ceramic coated headers painted black! Anyway, to make a long story short - It was really dark at the spot where we used to race and some people raced for some big bucks. You could hardly see a thing under his hood, and he won a LOT of money that summer! LOL! Of course, eventually, everyone found out what the car really had.

That Caddy looks GREAT, Niko! You ARE good at it. Just gotta keep on drawing man! Before I was a teenage boy, Everyone in my class said I was awesome at drawing...and it was true (for my age). I gave up on it around 8th grade though, and wish I didn't. Keep on drawing stuff and you WILL keep getting better and better. One of my friends, who I met in middle school, was way behind me as far as art skills at the time, but he kept on drawing and is now one of the best tattoo artists around my area (He is very well known in my town). Like anything else, the more you practice, the better you will get. Also, consider getting yourself into art classes in high school (IMHO, it will help you tremendously). Just, make sure it's something that you REALLY want to do and keep trying your best and taking your instructor's advice. If you keep going with it, you will be AWESOME at it one day. I promise! I'll even give you my address so you can come over and punch me in the nose if I'm wrong. The only conditions to this "deal" LOL.. is you have to give it your ALL for 10 years first.

Oh man!! That is soooooo cool!! Great idea and it turned out AWESOME! Can't believe I missed this one. Guess it was posted when I had to take an involuntary vacation from MCM and modeling in the spring/early summer...

LOL, still loving this build! Glad someone brought it back up. Just curious, now that you've had her for a while, have you calculated how many miles per sunflower seed yet?

Cruise for a cure
Wayne Buck replied to Romell R's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Whoa! Lot's of really cool stuff there. Wish I was there, but just a little bit too far from me! That Orange '68 Camaro was super sweet! Thought it was turbo'd at first glance until I looked at it again. Very clean and mean. Thanks a lot for sharing, Romell! -
x2. My 2 cents - When it comes to art, there really isn't a set "standard" by which to judge who is great and who isn't. For example.. put a few drawings of cars done by Harry P. on photoshop (with clean, crisp lines and "real looking") against some abstract art (where it looks like the artist just flung a bunch of different colored paint all over the canvas)... who is the better artist? I would say Harry's stuff is way better, but someone else might really like the abstract painting. Hope that made sense...dunno how else to explain it. Anyway, I think you're drawings are REALLY AWESOME , and I mean it! I wish I could draw like that, or even half as good! I'm still working on my stick figures... almost got it nailed but I can't seem to get the arms to look right....

VERY Nice Car, Doug! That red looks just PERFECT on it! Nice job on the windshield too. My Fiance gives me a hard time because I also save that type of packaging as well as a bunch of other things that people would normally throw out. She just doesn't seem to understand how handy "garbage" can be at times for us modelers! And, a BIG thank you for offering to help out with our great bunch of guys and gals we have here! Unfortunately, as humans, we tend to get into little (and sometimes, not so little) "disputes" here and there, and people like you are MUCH appreciated! Thanks again, and GREAT looking Lotus!

Holy Smokes! This is KILLER!! Great work so far.... Really, REALLY great work, Tom! The sign, the oil cans, the compressor, water heater & furnace, the bricks...heck, THE WHOLE THING looks awesome!!! This station is gonna be a real treat when done. I can't wait!

Royal Egyptian cubits (or so I've read). Imagine doing it in 1/25th? So, that would be 300x20.6" = 6180"/25 = 247.2" long ~~ 50x20.6" = 1030"/25 = 41.2" wide ~~ 30x20.6" = 618"/25 = 24.72" high 1/25th Noah's Ark - 20.6ft long , 3.43ft wide , 2.06ft tall Whoa! Realistically, I'm thinking of doing 1/87 (HO scale), almost 6 feet long. I could build a table with a 4x8 sheet of plywood on top and it should fit nicely with room to do landscape all around it. I figure at that scale, it would be big enough to not be an extremely tedious task, but the main reason is; There are tons of HO scale animals, trees and all kinds of needed supplies readily available. Good thing I have a pretty good size basement.. If the old lady throws a fit though, I may have to go "N" scale. However, that scale seems to be more expensive, with less of an assortment of supplies. Oh, and, I'll definitely put it up here, gonna be a while though.

Really cool idea, Neil! I like your interpretation of the "Final Battle". I've been wanting to build Noah's ark for a long time. Minicraft makes a pretty cool kit of it, but I think I want to do mine out of real wood (and a larger scale). It's probably gonna take me forever, but it would be a pretty cool conversation piece when complete. I think I'll wait for my daughter to get a little older first, so we can build it together.

VERY COOL Machine, Dave!! Looks Awesome! Nice and cleanly built and very creative. Thanks for sharing with us!

Lets all donate a dollar
Wayne Buck replied to martinfan5's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I got it! Everyone on the forum, donate a dollar to each other member! Then we'll all be rich!!! Umm.. oh... wait a minute... Doh!! -
Lucky!!! I had to drop off one of my customer's CTS ('04 v6) at the Caddy dealer the other day, and sitting right there at the end of a new CTS row, was one of the brand new 540(?) horsepower monsters. Boy was she sweet lookin'!!! Black on Black, MONSTROUS brakes, nice looking wheels and some pretty big dual pipes coming out of the center of the back end. Why do I have to be so broke? WHY!!!??
-
I think that looks great, Eric! VERY nice work! I got so excited about my video idea, that I missed your build at first. Seriously, though, I really like what you've done there. GREAT JOB!
-
How about a "video diorama"? Like a stop-motion of Christine "fixing" herself back up in the garage! Start with the built model, shoot a couple frames, and slowly weather the model, heat it up in spots, slowly making dents, all while taking more and more frames, slowly score the windshield, windows, etc. Basically, keep wrecking it a tiny bit more, with each frame until it's destroyed...then play the whole thing in reverse (like they did in the movie) LOL. That would be really cool to see! It would sure be a lot of work, though, and your model would be destroyed in the end. I wish I had a stop-motion camera! I almost want to do it now!

Some unreal Ebay prices.
Wayne Buck replied to Brutalform's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
x3 Some stuff gets into the wrong categories, misspelled, $0.99 start with no reserve... When I'm bored sometimes, I'll cruise all over ebay looking for stuff like that and just drop a really low bid. Most of the time, you lose out, but sometimes, it can result in a GREAT buy. I won a really clean, COMPLETE, running 2.3l Ranger engine on there with under 40k miles (truck was totaled) for 99 cents a few years back. It was 30 miles from my house. I drove down with my friend's f250, handed the guy a buck and he loaded it right up in the bed with his forklift. The thing was on a pallet, all wrapped up, strapped down and everything! I tore it all apart and sold the accessories, head, crank, rods and other stuff and made a couple hundred. The block from it is in my '87 2.3 turbo Mustang right now and almost ready for a good beating!
