Your opinion wanted!
Wayne Buck replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My feelings exactly. I think it's kind of a shame that there are some REALLY AWESOME finished builds that are confined to sections other than "Under Glass". I'm pretty much into just drag cars, but I often visit the other sections to see all of the other types of vehicles... I think a lot of people are missing out on seeing some really nicely done models on here. I really appreciate the skill/craftsmanship that goes into things that I would normally not be interested in myself. Even if you're strictly a die-hard NASCAR fan, a very nicely done truck or low-rider can make your jaw hit the floor just as hard... just my 2c -
WOW!! That is one beautiful piece of work! Awesome job... x10

Best opening scene from a movie ever!
Wayne Buck replied to Pete J.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yeah that was really funny! That's one of those movies you could watch a million times and it still makes ya laugh IMHO... Rick Moranis was GREAT! My wife and I watched it countless times when we first started dating. Does anyone remember a movie, "Speed Zone" (pretty sure that's what it was)? At the beginning, there's a scene where a kid's grandfather is teaching him to skip rocks on a pond, and suddenly, a Lamborghini(?) comes flying through and skips across the water a few times and keeps going. The kid says "Like that, Grandpa?"... Kinda funny but definitely a bit silly. -
Blowing smoke.
Wayne Buck replied to MAGNUM4342's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Congrats!! One of the few cases where 'a quitter always wins' I'm not a smoker... Tried it 2 or 3 times in my younger years and always got sick... Good thing! ...but, I used to drink a LOT and quit shortly after my daughter was born. I know it can be a challenge quitting any kind of addiction (sometimes a HUGE challenge). I drank so much, I used to go through a 30 pack in about 2-3 days (this went on every day for about 6 years). One day, I looked at my little girl and said to myself "ENOUGH WITH THIS!"... Just quit cold turkey. Amazingly, it wasn't really that bad. Just goes to show, if you want something bad enough you CAN do it. A favorite quote of mine, by the late Napoleon Hill - "Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, the mind can achieve" -
That's a VERY Sharp lookin' race car, John! Love the paint scheme with the gold rims & numbers... Awesome job on it! Thanks a lot for sharing!

Mine is just something I threw together real quick and I think it fits me pretty well... I'm always working on or modifying something, from 1:1 cars to models, to mini bikes, ...putting lawn tractor batteries in the kid's power-wheels, welding up crazy looking bicycle frames, etc... I just love to play with things and especially love making stuff go fast. The Mustang was an old complete model, until my daughter learned how to walk and reach for things! I just tossed in a 4.6 modular motor, heated up the control arms so the wheels would hang down, and threw it on my old 1/24th GMP lift (...that I really wish I had bought more of).

Your favourite Box art
Wayne Buck replied to HotRodaSaurus's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Definitely one of my favorites. Much cooler than a picture of the model built and just sitting there... Just looking at it, it's almost like you can feel the ground shake and hear the sounds! -
Hi, my credentials
Wayne Buck replied to Steven2's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Welcome aboard, Steven! You do some VERY, VERY NICE work! Wow!! All of your builds are awesome! I love the "El-Camaro". Can't wait to see what else you do!! -
She's coming along Really Nice, Niko! Can't wait to see it sitting on all fours with that color on the body. I think it's gonna look really cool. I have one of these started that I really should get back on... I still remember seeing the picture of it in white about a year or so before it was released and wanting it SO badly! Just a mean lookin' vehicle and a great kit. I really like the slicks that come with it.

Done that one before... a FEW TIMES!! I've been working a lot lately and sometimes I'm only able to get a couple of hours sleep if I'm lucky... I get myself up, make my coffee and go to the computer. Sometimes, I'm so tired that I'll nod off for a second and find my coffee all over my lap, down my leg and all over the floor. ...wakes me up real quick when that happens!! I run on Coffee though. Gotta have it or I feel terrible (headache, fatigue, etc...). Garfield is one of my favorites. Thanks for sharing! I used to watch the cartoon show all of the time when I was a kid. Might have to make some lasagna for dinner now!

Chrome trim or painted trim?
Wayne Buck replied to gbdolfans's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Ultimately, it's up to you, as it is your model... My vote would go to BMF (or silver trim if you're not comfortable trying foil yet). Some cars do look good with body colored trim, or even black trim. It all depends on the car and nature of the build... ie. If it had some more modern equipment like 17" or larger rims, LS series engine, Corvette suspension, etc.., Black trim or body colored looks cool, but, if it were all stock underneath (or older running gear), I think chrome trim looks more "appropriate". This is all my opinion, BTW.. I was scared to try BMF at first, but once I used it, I never looked back. It just looks SO much better! It's really not that bad to do, just a bit time consuming... but then again, it's pretty time consuming to paint all of the trim (and you risk touching the paint by accident and getting it on the body where you don't want it, if you do it with a brush or marker). If you spray it silver, then I believe you might as well have just gone with the BMF, since you have to cut the tape out and burnish it... and it's scary when you pull the tape off! If you do decide to use BMF in the future, make certain you have a fresh & sharp #11 blade, and take your time. ...my 2c Your Chevy looks very cool, BTW, nice color for it! -
Really GREAT Looking ride! Nice and clean build and I love the white interior. AWESOME JOB!!

BEAUTIFUL Camaro! Love the black w/ white stripe combo and the wheels look great on it! This has always been one of my favorite kits to build. It always seems to go together very nicely.

Niko, you are doing an OUTSTANDING Job on the Cobras. Actually, just noticed this thread tonight and went through it. Dunno how I missed it... Been REALLY busy lately in the 1:1 world. Anyway, The street car turned out Awesome! I agree with some on here that the paint is a bit heavy on the metal flake, but I bet it looks MUCH better in person. Cameras combined with a lot of lighting definitely make stuff like that stand out a lot more. Can't wait to see the race car finished too. Very nice attention to detail! Makes me wanna build one now! Too much on my plate at the moment, though.

VERY NICE JOB! It definitely looks like you've spent a good deal of time on it and it turned out GREAT. All of the colors look perfect and the weathering is fantastic! I have the same kit sitting in my office. I bought it planning to make a pro-street Delorean, however, when I took it out of the box and saw the big cables running down the sides were molded as part of the body, I put it back on the shelf. I still want to do the project some day... Just wasn't feeling up to doing all of the work to make the body look stock. One of my best friends in high school told me his parents had bought a Delorean brand new... I thought he was pulling my chain until he pulled out a few old pics of it sitting in their driveway and in front of their house. According to him, it had a lot of problems, so they sold it after owning it for a year or so. Bet they wish they had held on to it now... Not sure what they're worth, but I would think it'd bring in a decent amount nowadays. They should have put it in a "Time Capsule"

Thanks for sharing Gregg!! I'll definitely be picking up a Willys... or two... or three, when the wallet allows me. Even though I have no interest at all in the 'vette, it looks to be a VERY nicely detailed kit. Might grab myself a copy for many of the cool parts that I see on the trees, depending on the price. The '67 Chevelle P/S is kinda cool, but I can see that I'm not the only one who isn't too thrilled by the "custom" tail light setup. The first thing I looked (and hoped) for in the pics, was an extra panel included in the kit with the correct lights. And, I agree, the rear suspension is a bit on the fragile side. It's at least nice to see it molded in white this time, instead of that putrid looking green.

Nikola Tesla
Wayne Buck replied to ZombieHunter26's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Literally 2 blocks from my father's house in Wall twp, NJ, there is a fenced in area where you can see a HUGE "satellite dish looking thing" and a field of all kinds of strange looking antennas(?) and things... My dad and I used to pass by it pretty regularly when we would go out to the mall and some other places in that direction. One day, when I was about 9 or 10, I asked him if he knew what it was. He said it was a pretty famous site where the first (or one of the first) wireless communication stations were built. It's on Marconi road. Pretty neat! Anyway, I agree. It would be cool to do a Tesla related build. A VERY smart man, he was! -
It's just terrible.... ...that Beautiful buggy isn't sitting on my shelf!! Wowee! I'm really diggin' the paint, details and super clean build quality! Awesome Job!! Edit: Just wanted to reiterate, as I look at the pics again... That paint really looks KILLER! Also, love the look of the redline tires on the front and the choice of rims.

1/25 Galaxie Ltd. '46 - '48 Chevrolet Aerosedan
Wayne Buck replied to MikeMc's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Thanks for sharing this with us, Doc! This is one kit that I've REALLY wanted for quite some time now, but have yet to get my hands on... I personally find it "fun and exciting" to open up a kit and go through it's contents. A lot of the newer kits on my shelves have been taken out of the box, gone through, and then neatly put back, multiple times. I hope this doesn't come off as a little strange, but... when I have to spend some time on the potty, I almost always bring a kit or two in with me and "un-box" it. Sometimes, it's just to check out the cool and brand new parts, and other times, it's to brainstorm and come up with ideas for when I finally do build it. There's no magazine rack in my bathroom. LOL... I usually just check out my models instead! My wife finds it to be quite humorous... and definitely weird. -
Yep, they are the same part on 67 Camaros and 68-72 Novas.

Separated at birth?

Right? He's pretty ripped looking... Every time I see him these days I can't help but to laugh a little! He certainly is a character!
