A location pin pointer trunk pan drawing I was working on, that I will transfer over to the bad chassis The evergreen trunk rails
-
I still have to get the other piece of steel prep to weld into place on the other side yet of that jig. Here is a before photo of the center pieces.. The correct version of the 2nd gen Dodge Charger rear frame rails.. Now I have a few chassis's of the 2nd generation on hand, I had one bad chassis so I'm using that one to modify while using the others only as comparison on location of some mounts. I have over 3000 ref photos to also help me out. The black chassis photo is one of the good chassis's.

Okay here is some photos.. The frame rail jig in the works. Okay, now I have something to say here, after the other photos was taken.. later that night. I decided I would weld or try to spot weld even though my wife ask me nicely not to and to wait to the next day.. well I thought why wait. So I got my welder out and started to weld.. well towards the end I took a small brake and soon as I went to flip my shield down my welding shield glass broke.. so I thought I could easy finish the weld up by closing my eyes during the welds with my face shield on.. let me just say later that night I had a good welder flash.. and still have a sore right eye ball as well yet!.. On top of that with having the face shield on that night and working out in the driveway area. I a bout knock over the work stand behind me when a few wild sparks burn my hand and I jump back. The other work stand had the semi trunk project on it.. The frame got bent as a few pieces of wood landed on it as things fell.. so I'm in the process of working on a metal frame for that project as well. The photos from that night. I'll clean up the welds, and re-weld it since I have a new welding glass now. More photos coming..

Hi you all, I got progress photos I'll be posting soon. I got the trunk rails made out of plastic evergreen before I go the next step in making them into metal pieces by using the evergreen ones as a temp. I also got the trunk pan floor cross brace made as well out of evergreen. I'm working on 3 to 4 projects right now trying to take my mind of of my one cousin that past away last Friday after battling cancer for a few years now. I'll post the progress photos asap or soon as my computer starts to work with me here LOL.

You know, when I red that line.. the first thing that came to my mind or pop in there was the scene from "Tremors 2: The Aftershock" towards the end of where Burt yells "This will be big! big.. big!". -

There is a lot more stuff I can talk about and explain about the show, to why almost jump what to how far the jumps was to how many chargers they used and how many made it after the show had ended in 1985. -

"General Lee" Questions

The car I got didn't have any vinyl trim on it, but during the series run, the first or I should say the earlier season's did have the vinyl trim on. It wasn't unto around season 3 or 4 when they started building the cars in house was then when a lot of the trim was removed. They also reused old footage from earlier scenes shot at different angles. The vinyl trim stayed mostly as they said it broke up the contrast of the whole car. The crossing flags, now that is a good question. They was only used in the first episode, on Lee2. That was part of the history of the Rebel Rouser race car. This decal was place on the Dutch panel on the General. Lee2 was the only charger in the first episode that had a racing gas cap but no trim ring plate though under it! LOL -

The push bar was for the dirt track era. If you look back in the history of dirt track racing you will see those cars had push bumpers on them. That is where the idea came from for on the ol General. About the 1/24/ 1/25 scale parts. I make them. -
"General Lee" Questions

The amt kit lacks alot of detail. The revell kit might be incorrect in some place but it sure the heck beats the amt kit by all means. I would go with the revell one. BUT you might get a shell with no side markers though but that would also make it correct too for a General Lee build as the General Lee on the show had both no markers and markers. markers in the earlier part of the series and 3rd Season they was done away with. -
"General Lee" Questions

I have one of the original's 1:1 . The color orange is the biggest debate of them all. Back in the day, after season 2 they mostly used what ever orange they had on hand AND even at times mixed all the oranges they had together to get enough paint to paint afew of the cars if they was running real low on the orange colors. 1975 Corvett Flame Red is the most used color BUT not the only orange used though. The interiors are different as well. First season had a Buckskin tan color, and in some shots LOOKED black when it wasn't. Then in afew episodes the interior was a more darker buckskin to a chestnut color brown. Where the later season cars had the pal light tan interiors due to camera lighting on the actors as the darker colors was hard for the camera's to see. The push bars change as well in the 2nd season point from a small push bar to a full wider one that fasten to the front bumber and also under the car to it's frame. Reason of the change was because the small push bar was damaging the charger grill all the time during filming of hitting scenes. The wider one protected the grill a lot more better then what the smaller one did. Most of the chargers on the show ran 318's, the small jump cars had the 383's in and the big jump cars had both 383's & 440's in them. The roll cages was different as well as there was at least 4 kinds on the series. The dummy 3 point one was used for the close up cars. The decals on the chargers also changed during the show run too. The flag also changed size and colors too right down to the stars also changed sizes. The General Lee roof text also changed size and color during the run. The cb's was different through the run as well as they also change brands and makes in the General. The cb antenna's was 3 types used. The Tear Drop, the Avantie, and one other one that the name escapes my mind right now. NO 1970's was ever used at all during the show run. 1968 & 1969's was the only years used. Now there was two units used, 1st Unit Close up cars 2nd Unit Stunt Cars 2nd Unit cars was more rougher then what the 1st units was. 2nd unit cars didn't have no interior in the jump cars, just one jump seat and a full cage. The side markers was on the cars during the firs few earlier seasons even though they was painted over orange including the wheel trim LOL. During the 3rd season when the studio took and took the building process of the cars in there own hands, they removed the side markers, and also the back up lights as well and also the wheel well trim and all badging off the chargers. Here is something, did you know some of the 2nd unit cars paint was not even dry when the cars did there jumps. Plus the bottom arms on the wide push bars was cut off under the bumper line for clearance issues with the ramps. The Styixk River jump 300 foot Granny Annie Train jump 274 foot Withness Jesse Duke Train jump (?) 32 Park Cars jump 100 foot Lee1 jump over Rosco in pilot episode, 84 feet on a Saturday morning 6AM 1978 Lee2 first car jumped down Elm-street in pilot episode (142 foot) on a Wednesday 3PM 1978 (Lee1 that Saturday) . -

I talked it over with my wife and we both agree. If I had to choice to be a paid member for say $25 a year , or go some where else. I would gladly pay the $25 for a year as it would be worth it due to all the good stuff that is on this forum. -

Oh. okay. I'm not too good with these kind of things yet. I have only built like 2 model semis so far in the past. Thanks for shedding light on this stuff and helping me understand this kind of stuff. -

Go to the Lodge area on the forum here, look for a recent thread about Pop ups. You'll find the answers in that thread. -
Thanks! I just installed it, glad to be free of those annoying ad banners.
-
LOL Gregg rule on here, no selling allowed.

I am very annoyed by these stupid ad banners on here. Facebook is almost ad free. Photobucket is the same way almost with ad banners all over the ding dang place. I started surfing on here about 30 minutes ago and ad's in ever area and in in each thread! very annoying........ Does the site owners know these video ad banners carries virus's? yes they do, that's why Photobucket is virus's here and there and people always getting virus's on some sites that has certain ad's being ran. I know Gregg and Harry just got this new forum up and going but I think the ad banners is a big mistake though.

Lone Star Build

Okay. I have to ask this question. After looking at your photos, how is that semi pose to turn when you have a set of wheels center of the frame and then back about 30 scale scale feet dual set of wheels? I know it's only a model.. but I am curious as if was a real life vehicle, how would it turn.
