It's real simple, VW built cars to sell all over the world, and each country had its own laws on safety, lighting, bumpers, emission equipment, left of right hand steering, and so on. In 67 the US got serious with these things and VW had to meet these new requirements, so US VW's look different than the ones sold elseware, and these "improvements" were phased in at later dates for other countrys. South African Beetles never got the new rear fenders used from 73 up for the large rear taillights, they got a metal base that made those lights work on the older fenders. Brazilian Beetles never got the larger side windows that the rest of the world got in 65. Mexican Beetles never switched to IRS.. French Beetles always had yellow headlights. And the list goes on....

Andy, back in the late 70's a friend of mine had finished a 57 Chevy he had fixed up. He was from Detroit, and he drove it to his Moms home to show her. He parked it out in the front and walked to the front door. When his Mom answered he turned to show her the car just in time to watch it drive away with a thief at the wheel. Detroit has been bad for quite a while.

Remember, the Mayor is the cops boss, and everyone he has placed in power around him will still be there tomorrow if an arrest is made. Ever hear the line about "paybacks"? Around here the Chief of police is the first appointment a new Mayor makes. We can survive crooked politicians, but we won't survive over 50% of our voters not caring and returning them to office.

Back in the 60's the old man who lived down the street had a huge garden every year, and would put out a table of fresh grown items with a cash box, all on the honor system. Nothing was ever taken. Other persons property and hard work was respected. Today the tomatoes would be thrown at his house, the cash box would be gone, and the table smashed. Also someone from the city would be there to see his permit, someone from the state would be there to do a health inspection, and the IRS would be there to arrest him for unpaid taxes. Yeah, in a hand basket.

Source for a decent Chevy 396 engine?
Craig Irwin replied to russosborne's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Because the Badman is 1/24, I would look for one from the Monogram 1970 Chevelle SS, although it's a 454, they look the same outside. -
Did you ever hear the old adage that there is no such thing as a free lunch? All of that is figured into a budget somewhere, in rent cost, fees, somewhere the money is collected to pay for those outlets. I don't think recharging electric cars not owned by the school is in the schools budget. Nor should it be. Aren't most schools under budgeted already?

Everyone knows that it cost to plug things in, why do we replace appliances with newer more efficient ones? Why do we turn off TV's and lights when nobody is in the room? I would think that if he had the cord and had found the outlets location and then parked where the cord could reach he knew exactly what he was doing and had even done a little research. I'll bet he saw what charging that thing did to his monthly power bill and found a cheaper alternative. What if your next door neighbor ran his recharge cord to your outdoor outlet?

Revell Germany VW Beetle 1500 (Limousine and Cabriolet)
Craig Irwin replied to Luc Janssens's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Here in Indiana I have two with them in my garage, I even have a thermostat on my Manx with a turbo 1915. -
The age old Revell VW kit is a 68 US spec. car, if you sand off the fender flairs that have been in the last few issues. I've done it so I can say there is enough plastic in the fenders to do so.
