  1. Proud to be a member of this club, lots of talent!!!!
  2. Cool thread guys, I absolutely loved those John Deere bikes, also loved that old orange Schwinn posted by Harry, they were big in Puerto Rico when I was groing up!!
  3. This is really phenomenal, love how nice and clean it is!!
  4. Looks awesome and what I like most is that is a stock Merc!! Thanks for sharing my friend, we all here learned a lot from that tutorial!! What I like most is that there is another Oldmobile to hit the workbench soon and coming from you, it will be a treat!!
  5. A bit more progress on my Olds!! Almost done with the chassis, slightly weathered, used a combination of metallic colors to give it some contrast. Also fabricated a bracket for the alternator which was just hanging in mid air. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki
  6. There is a small detail on the rear lights of the 1/1 Hurst Olds that I wanted to simulate on the kit, I managed to do this with a sharpie, I think it will look pretty good once installed!! Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki I also started on the interior floor, I like using embossing powders to simulate the carpeting. Hosted on Fotki
  7. I am almost done with the chassis, I have incorporated several shades of metallic paints for a little contrast and a more realistic overall look. The differential cover was Alcladed and a black wash was also added. I decided to carefully remove the oil filter on the engine, there was a very noticeable mold line on it so I decided to eliminate it and repaint it. You will notice this if you see the previous pictures. Additionally, I fabricated a bracket from the generator to the engine since it was just hanging in mid air. 8. I was going anyway, scuba gear and all.......
  9. Looks terrific, great job on this! Are you clear coating it or just leaving it as is??
  10. What I did was, once I layed down the Plastruct strips, I primed the lines a little heavier on the inside to make sure and simulate the overlap. Once you shoot the adhesive, as you can see, the other side of the strip comes out just perfect. I glued my strips with Liquid Ambroid glue. You can use any other glue, I just thought the liquid glue was perfect for this. Of course, you have to make sure to mask the other side of the strip to keep the primer from getting accumulated on the opposite side of the aforementioned strip.
  11. I used Dupli-Color Pure White as a base with Tamiya Pearl White on top to complete my '59 Impala, tried gray primer first and was not successful at all, placed it in Dawn Power Dissolver and repainted the whole thing..... Hosted on Fotki
  12. Looking good my friend, please keep us posted, love the way your paint came out!!!
  13. It's always good to use a self-etching primer on your P/E parts before painting, this way, the paint will stick better if deciding on water based or any other type of paint. Make sure to scuff your P/E parts before priming them, this will give the part a bit of tooth for the primer to work best, use something like a 3200 grit sanding cloth or something similar. I did this grill for a '57 Chevy several years ago. I painted mine with Testor's gold enamel.
  14. Yes Jay, last night I had to fabricate one, thought I had some P/E ones laying around but never found one. I have installed the engine on the chassis already, I will post pictures later.
  15. A bit more work on my Hurst Olds. Almost done with the engine, soon will start on the interior!! Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki

  17. Thanks for the compliments fellas!!! Did a bit more work and completed most of the engine, there will be more parts added once in the engine bay. For now, just gave it a black wash to give it kind of a used look.
