so, everyone still building? glad the problem is solved and we are back up and running. I got more done on the Pontiac. have to shoot some pictures and post them up. I also started another project. a 32 highboy I am pro streeting. keep the progress updates coming.
-
yea, i guess i should have said "opinion" rather than "question".
-
putting together a 32 hiboy, red exterior, buckskin (tan) interior. what color do i make the carpeting/dash... red or tan? thanks in advance,
-
I wish I can give credit to whomever put this together. if anyone knows, please let me know. this should help out.
-
might be pretty cool. plop a GN motor or make a twin turbo Buick V-6, put a wing on the back and get it low like back at the start of pro street in the 80's and 90's. dare to be different!!
-
glad to see you back on this Jason. looking good. your interior work is great!

What makes a pro modeler a pro ?
tubbs replied to cobraman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
i have simular thoughts. by definition, i feel if someone is getting "paid" for a regularly produced product, he is then considered a "professional". doesn't mean he is good at it. look at my beloved Cleveland Browns, they are "pro's"..... right? but then again, you have to be drafted onto a PRO team to become a pro, amature bowlers get paid, they need thier card to turn pro. minor league baseball players are "pr" but not in the big leagues,..... hmmmm...... i'm out of this one, my head is starting to hurt. -
i agree. i think it looks very cool!! but, i know how you feel, thats why i dont have any shelf models, i get frustraded or distracted and move onto the next one. everyone is making great progress, i guess i better get off my behind and get going.

looking really good Dale. it's coming along nicely. just to be sure, this is the new fairlane kit you are making this from, correct? what do the rear mags from the kit look like? same, only deeper dish? and no i am not talking pizza!!
-
looking great!! killer all the way around......... although ........... i am a big supporter of cubic inches, and thats what makes this a great build, i would be putting a big ol shotgun in there. never would cross my mind to do it this way.... KUDOS !!! and paint scheme # 1 is out, terrible, who would ever use a paint scheme like that...... me, NEVER ....... (insert evil laugh here)

nice. heard alot about that future, have some but never really tried it. Ross motors are a little out of my wife's budget for my model building. they are very nice. and that wash just makes everything pop!! why do you oils? wont acrylics give you the same results?
-
the trick to building headers is cutting them off the tree properly....... HAHA, jokiing, i am going to try this, juct dont know whether to start from the collector or the flange?
-
a ford courrier? very cool!! thats using the ol' parts box. nice progress.
-
looking realy slick, this is one of the different ones being built!! will have to get used to the WW though..... used to seeing "Hoosiers" on them tires.
-
hey Dale, great build going on. do you use a black wash on your parts. it seams like you do. what do you use? and did you scratch up those headers? if not, where did they come from?
-
not a fan of these, but can appreciate a great build. love the subtle details, like the cam connecting the front frame rails!! awesome!! really a great effort. i think the wheels are fine.
-
haha, thats great, and very true. i feel your pain, aint no pain at looking at this though, pro street at its finest. nice build Eric!!

this will only relate to some of you (hopefully) but it's funny how we can remember the price, color and little things about these cars, but if our wives/girlfriends ask when your first date was, or first kiss, or worse, the anniverary ?!?!?! LORD HAVE MERCY !!!! -

we did this on another forum, soooo many emotions in this post....... anyways..... here are a few stories (don't want to get my number of posts up too high.) back in, oh i'd say early 80's my good body calls me and said he knows where 2 superbirds are. one yellow with white interior, 440 4bbl and an automatic. the other was white with black interior, 440 6 bbl car 4 speed. both owned by the same guy. he wants $6000 apiece. my buddy still has his yellow bird that he got for $5000 and i dont have the white one because it was a 4 speed and i wanted an automatic. the year was 1991, 3 months after i bought my pro street road runnerr, we went to the mopar nats. this guy comes up and says that he really likes my car and wondered if i would want to make a trade straight up for his challanger. so i went to look at this car, not bad, a 440 RT/SE, triple black, auto, shaker...... BUT IT WASNT A PRO STREET CAR!!! do you know how many challanger RT/SE came with a 4 bbl shaker..... not many!!!!!! summer of 1979, out of high school for a while and had a good job, a friend and i went to a very large swap meet (before the internet took over, this was the only way to sell things). got there early and went looking for a muscle car. i had graduation money and just sold a 68 road runner so i had cash. looked all day and nothing really caught my eye until we were getting ready to leave. we saw a black (actually fathom green but i am color blind) 69 camaro with cragars on a trailor. thats cool!! lets go check it out. (i wasn't fully aware of the mopar phenominon at that point of my life). very clean car, 4-speed, buckets, big block.....BIG BLOCK? i saw no 396 emblems on the outside of the car.... i askes the guy what size motor, he stated 427.... "dont you mean 396?" i said back to him. "nope, a 427" he said. "did it come out of a vette or something? "nope, bought it this way"........ yea right? we laughed.. i was a 19 year old know-it-all about cars and the factory DID NOT put 427's in camaros. I KNOW!!! I"M 19!!! "its a special order car. a COPO"....... we laughed again. "a what?" said laughing again. "a COPO camaro, i ordered it to race and i am not racing anymore and want to sell it. $5000 or give me an offer." we walked away laughing, only to realise about a year later that they actually made a 427 COPO camaro in 1969..... who's laughing now....... certainly NOT ME!!! one more, i passed on a saturn yellow 70 buick GS/X for $600 because it had an electical fire and it had a complete chevelle interior and a 454 in it. -
I bet it sounds amazing.

man, this is wierd.... i was just rifling thru some old Hot Rods this past weekend and came across this in an article. was gonna look for a V8 porsche motor to try to replicat this. if this is the same car (which i am almost positive it is), it was put together in the late 90's. i put the mag back in the pile, but if you would like i can find it and try to scan it for you? -
thanks for the tip, i may try that, but, i also do some shopping at the craft store and i found these erring looking things that go on charm bracelits that look like springs when you pull them apart. an eve tension will stretch them evenly. good deal on the rims, you got it all figured out so i will just watch this neet build and maybe start project # 86...... the pro stock series sounds great, i have a 63 to 65 factory hemi and max wedge super stock build ongoing. trying to do a lot of the factory race cars, including lightweight and R coded fords, ZL-1 camaros, Z-11 impalas and some of the factory race pontiacs. but that is another thread.
-
looking great Dale, love the front coil overs. what did you use for the springs? the spacing is perfect. i too love the big meats under that little body. this may be your first pro streeter, but it certainly isn't your first build (HAHA), you have some nice skills. make sure you push those rims all the way into the tire, the large ring on the rim fits into the tire, not on the outside. can't wait to see more!
-
nice Bill. one of my favorites. and thats OK it sat around for a few months....er, years. mine do the same. this forum will shut down if i ever post something finished!! sweet build!!
