  1. Hugh you can post that puppy as much as you want. Everyone likes a well built replica! Here's some of the cars I drove at work over the years. and the real deal. G
  2. It's a '49 but they had '50's as well. G
  3. That is just freakin' sweet. G
  4. Nice older build. I always wanted a MkIII, naturally when I was in a position to buy one, they were long out of production. G
  5. I know they aren't real, but the voices in my head come up with the coolest ideas. G
  6. My department was one of the first to use midsize front wheel drive autos for patrol. We started in '84 with the Chevrolet Celebrity police package. I recall it having a 3.8 V6 which gave no better gas mileage than the previous V8 Malibus. We drove those pigs until Chevy stopped building them, then received full size Impalas with V6's. That my friends was the absolute worst ever match of engine and body conceived and produced. Lordy what a pig. The bean counters never take into account how the car will be used. In an urban area, such as I rode, we needed a car that could drag race block by block with more brakes than horsepower. Torque and brakes saved the day for us. A puny engine had to work harder and was harder on gas. Then you go to the traffic division where the entire day is spent on the highway. You'd think the cars requirements would be completely different. NOT, again you need blinding acceleration, and great brakes. Handling is a plus factor here as well due to speeds involved. Detectives and some UC units can get away with eco cars, anything marked will deliver economy with performance. G
  7. Danno hit it on the head right there. Check this site, lots of good pics, and memories. http://www.slpva.com/historic/saintlouiscitypolice.html G
  8. I had my brother in law order a new Cadillac XTS, but I'm tempted to wait for the SS. He thinks it will be a hit. G
  9. Oh yes. We used them as prisoner conveyance vehicles. They had to be short wheel base vans so to fit the sally port of the Headquarters building. Too long and you couldn't get in all the way or turn around to get out. I always wondered how they did that with the horse drawn paddy wagons in days gone by. The HQ was built in '30 to '31. We didn't get the first dedicated motorized panel van 'til '36. G
  10. Well since I posted last I completed this one. and this one. G And started this one! G
  11. We looked at them for my agency. NHP loaned us a test car and we had some fun at the speedway. The bosses opted for the less powerful "admin" packages, but the state bean counters lost their minds even at that. Oh well. G
  12. Oh, here we go again................................ OMGNAGLT ! G
  13. Yes. Trouble is this is a family oriented site.................................. G
  14. 1974, just enlisted in the Marine Corps, and a cherry '63 E Type comes up for sale for $2500. Had to pass, but oh boy was I tempted. Later I learned the insurance alone was 2x what I made a month as a PFC. Fast forward to 1998 and a brand new Harley Road King gets delivered to my local dealer. I decided that was the bike for me when I discovered a divorce was also looming. Same same in 2004 when I ordered a Mercury Maraduer from my fave Lincoln Mercury dealer. Fearing losing it I opted for a Grand Marquis after the divorce was final. Worked out well as I traded that for the Town Car I still have. G
  15. Oh don't say casino..................I'll be transferred up there then. G
  16. Very timely tip Greg thank you so much! I'm finishing an armor build first, and haven't started the wheels just yet. G
  17. Here's one I did a while back. Looks like great minds do think alike Doc. G
  18. And that's my plan as well. I'll be starting this project this week. Stay tuned. G
