Trouble is Danno's gettin' so, well, ahem, on in years, that new news is what he told us last week. I hear tell he plans his own Easter egg hunts nowadays. Trouble is, we aren't that far apart in our advanced years. G

Cool builds folks. 101 here today, cooling off to 93 tomorrow. Christian the grill is a right of passage in the colonies, something about meat, manhood, and alcohol. G -

Nicely done! Those were great off road vehicles. They just didn't corner well on dry pavement. G -
Naw .223 is a Remington cartridge, the one says Winchester. I'm thinking .243? G

Nicely done my young Padawan. The lights look superb, and that is one of the best renditions of a laptop I've seen yet. We will get you to paint multicolor graphics yet, young apprentice. I will drive down there and take your soon to be Jedi self to school. I'll use my Jedi mind tricks and have you up to speed in no time. G

These planes were painted with a straight laquer which had a tendency to peel badly. And, in a tropical enviornment, the rivets themselves (steel) corroded at a different rate than the sheet metal (aluminum). Using a wash accents these dimples, thereby allowing one to replicate that effect. IMO it can look a bit overdone, but boy does it look cool on a scale model. G -

2012 POST APOCALYPSE/ZOMBIE HUNTER COMMUNITY BUILD
Agent G replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Community Builds
There's no real 1/24 or 1/25 armor out there to speak of, and the kits that are are really expensive. Toys and scratch built are the best options. Look here www.policecarmodels.com at the accessories in 1/24, 1/25 scale. They have some hand held small arms that are nice, I have used them before. G -
And Chicago, and Coal Valley, and Omaha, and Estes Park. etc etc etc My Father in Law passed just before we were to leave for St Louis. So I airmailed MrsG to Chicago, drove to the 'Lou, watched baby girl graduate, then drove to Chicago for the funeral, spending a week with relatives. Left there on the 80 visiting in laws on the way. I made 11 states in two weeks of straight driving interrupted only by the week in Antioch. How this plays into this thread one may ask? Well before our "artist emeritus" gets his panties bunched again, I will mention my '05 Town Car. 3400+ miles, rain, rain and more frikkin' rain, bugs and my 2year old nephew never made this champ miss a beat. Why, oh why, FoMoCo chose to eliminate this car from Lincoln's lineup is totally beyond me. I averaged 26mpg overall with a 5350 lb car, and did it in style. G

I'd be happy to take that BMW off your hands and prevent further "model drain". G

Would you do this for your wife? Amust see..

My wife is my life. Whatever it takes, Period. Let's keep looking as to how we can turn these builds into money for research. I'm definately in. G -
Thank you all! Yes that was some serious masking for sure. I was crosseyed after that session. I couldn't wait to paint. Those are 1/48th scale decals from a AM company called Eaglecals. I felt that since the real plane is about twice the size of the real car, 1/48th would work. G

Since it's already off the backing, Future. Next time do what JB says. G -
They were on an aftermarket sheet by Eaglecals. I used a 1/48th scale set as they looked the best. When you figure the real plane is about twice the size of the car (no real way to compare, like apples and oranges but....) 1/48 worked out best. But then.....I was told long ago our common scales were designed for a reason. A 1/24th or 1/25th car, a 1/35th or 1/32 tank, and a 1/48th single engine plane all take up roughly the same amount of shelf space. Who'd a thunk it eh? The other thing I believe is worth noting is I departed from the real car in a couple of areas. I placed squadron code "B6" and the star and bar back farther on the body. I think it accentuates the length of the car, and gives the illusion of that long nose on the real P51. G

That's a striking paint job for sure. Some careful touch up work and it will be ready to go. G

Windex and primer. I found it works well over a white primer. It's very touchy about surfaces so clean and primed is the key. Did I mention primer? G -
