  1. Art I hoe they come through the unrest unscathed. They also produce some fine 1/35th scale subjects. G
  2. That is very plausible and it looks great. G
  3. Oh I like that. Great job on the decals. Check www.policecarmodels.com for the doggy. I haven't used his police K9's but I did paint up some scifi gaming wolf figures with pretty good success. G
  4. I was recently informed that an old gunshot injury is what is causing numbness in my left hand/arm. I'm told it may effect the total use of the arm down the road. Thank goodness I'm right handed. I'm sorry to hear this bro, just keep at. Building something else which doesn't require that particular skill is a good idea. G
  5. I didn't havetime for this week. MrsG needed all my attention. G
  6. Love it! The use of the oldschool siren/light combo works really well. G
  7. Nick the older parts of town built on the valley floor have always had extreme issues. Even with extensive sewer work you still see that happening. MrsG was leaving her mother's place and our Civic "floated" through an intersection. She called me and said she was waiting it out at her brother's place. Good thing is it doesn't sit around. Bad thing is with heavy enough rain things are literally buried. We lost a landscaper and his back hoe two years ago on a golf course. They found the back hoe pretty quickly but it took a week to find the poor soul operating it. 17 year old kid got to screwing around in a downpour last year. He falls into a flood canal and is found three weeks later, 4 miles from where he disappeared. Search and Rescue here isn't just for the nature areas and the lake. G
  8. Trust me when I say this, in 34 years on the job I have seen folks do things with autos that would baffle the engineers. Heck I have done things while driving that baffled me. I had red lights and sirens to get away with it and I was sober. I watched a full size Chevrolet Caprice police car drive onto the sidewalk and squeeze between the bus stop and a storefront while travelling at 65 mph in a pursuit. The copper was avoiding the suspect vehicle that swerved at him. We were directly behind in the street and were completely shocked at the manuever. We were even more shocked the next day when we went back, took a look, and determined that Chevy should have NEVER fit between those two obstacles. We also saw that the officer drove up onto the sidewalk at the exact spot the curb gave way to the service alley between businesses. G
  9. Thanks to that storm we have flash flood warnings on the west side of the valley. No hiking in Red Rock this week end. G
  10. Uh, what they said, X2. Or more. Flippin' wonderful. G
  11. Well I did get off on time, surprise, surprise considering the day we had. Here's the progress shots. Let the scratchbuilding begin! I used a scrap piece of brass from a PE fret to form the front plate track holder. The other two were supplied in the kit The track links came from spares accumulated from this and other tank builds. By this time in the campaign, late 1942 early 1943, these were some of the last new vehicles supplied to the Panzer forces in North Africa. Allied technology had caught up and the Panzers required additional armor. You can see the spaced front plate and all the spare track links hung on in crucial areas. Some had additional gun mantlet armor but due to visibility issues these were mostly removed in this theatre of war. I'm leaving some tools off the fender here in this area. I'll be scratching a rack for water cans as well as the rack on the rear deck. G
  12. Out flippin' standing! I faintly recall the end of the series, and this build does indeed spark memories. Hey you know how much StLFD equipment wound up being transported in my car? NONE! All of it became, ahem, was SLPD issued items. Yeah that's it. G
  13. Ok went back in to work today. I did get a lot accomplished yesterday after I posted thiose pics. Stay tuned she's looking good. G
  14. This was taken upon my arrival at my office this morning. I drove to the station gassed up and reset the meter. I drove a few miles on surface streets then right at 19 miles on the freeway to work. Not bad for an '05 Land Yacht. Speed was set by cruise at 72mph. The speed limit is 65mph. G
  15. I watch baseball, football, Ghosthunters (I know those guys) and BBC America's series "Ripper Street". That's literally the only cop show I enjoy. Other than that, meh. G
  16. '05 Town Car is listed as 4359 lbs, '14 Cadillac XTS is lised at 4015lbs. FWD and 4215lbs AWD. The TC has the Ford CVPI power train with a higher rear end ratio, a 4.6l V8 with a reported 240 HP. The Caddy has a 3.6l, V6 with a reported 304 HP. Interesting............................ I bet torque is vastly different and proves your point. G
  17. That's my point exactly! Why does that happen? A 200 is a great car, has a lot of options and cruises economically all while burning E85. I admit I'm spoiled by the Town Car, a 200 is not my size so to speak, but I think a 300 may be in the future for me. G
  18. As of this morning, 83 straight days without precipitation of any form. I was born, raised and worked an entire career in the midwest. The desert I can handle. Working in those never ending midwestern winters and incredible summer humidity was mind numbing. I was speaking of it once in the office and some of my fellow agents were stunned speechless. All those from Southern Nevada, Southern Arizona and Southern California didn't have a clue. Most thought I was joking. My partner was born in Kentucky and raised in Northern Utah, the Provo area, and readily confirmed my stories. My admin. assistant is a lovely lady from Phoenix who was born in Zacatecas, Mexico. She admitted she never saw snow until she was 19 and visiting relatives in Chicago. As a younger woman she was a reporter for a Phoenix area spanish language TV station. She recalled that any weather event was big news in the office. The one time it snowed she was done with Phoenix and told the then husband we're moving! Gonna rain here tomorrow maybe. I think I saw a cloud.......................................................... G
  19. Ok the camera's batteries are recharged and it's time to post progress pics. I have had nearly unlimited bench time as I stayed home with MrsG. She had some outpatient surgery and for three days has been sleeping. Starting to look like a tank! Bits and bobs that will make up the whole. That strip of white plastic in the last pic is what I will use for the scratchbuilt jerry can rack. I save the delicate/small parts and assenblies to add them last. Here's what's next. This will be straight forward build with a twist. Im converting this to a command tank used early in the North African campaign. It will get a scratchbuilt radio antenna on the rear deck. Stay tuned. G
  20. Josh I found that all the little injuries over the years compounded as I got older. Granted I've been shot, twice, but neither time was it that serious, at least to me. Then again I'm considered crazy, ask Danno and Jonathan. Andy I have two sons, a daughter, two step sons and between them three granddaughters and a grandson. Never once did I feel like raising them detracted from my life one little bit. Oh sure we had sleepless nights and anxiety over milestone events. Then there was the fear when the oldest boy served as a Hospital Corpsman in Desert Storm attached to a Marine infantry unit. It can cause anxiety at the time, but that which doesn't kill you makes you stronger. G
  21. Jonathan that's one of the main reasons I have kept the Lincoln. The Cadillac that scheduled to replace her averaged 19-20 on the highway with a V6. Really? G
  22. With all that detail don't bury it in an engine bay. Put that puppy in the '32 and leave it open for the world to see. G
