  1. Just when I think you've gone as far as you can with detail, you push it two steps past that! I've always enjoyed watching the progress of your builds, thanks for sharing them. David G.
  2. Excellent work, Erik! I love the weathering effects and the extra detail you've added. The diorama setting will kick it over the top! David G.
  3. That's one of the nice things about artist's medium. Since it's essentially colorless acrylic paint, it can be tinted or colored with acrylic paints or raw pigments. David G.
  4. Thanks everybody for your help, I sometimes have trouble seeing the obvious. David G.
  5. Looks excellent! Love the engine detail. David G.
  6. Is there a way to tell when my MCM subscription expires? I've been to the subscription web site and there's no way to log in and check on when one's subscription expires. Most companies put the expiration date on the mailing label, there is what looks like a date, but I'm not sure if it's what I'm looking for. I don't want to let my subscription to this fine magazine lapse. Thanks, David G.
  7. Keep up the good work. I have town sedan version in 1:1 so let me know if you need any detail pics. David G.
  8. Very Cool! Awesome detail, David G.

Excellent work! Everything looks great. David G.
  10. I use artist's gloss medium. It dries clear and can be built up in layers. I'll have to try some epoxy and see how they compare- thanks for the tip! David G.
  11. Awesome work! More! More! More! David G.
  12. Against the right background that could pass for a 1:1 truck. Great job! David G.
  13. Very cool! I remember those from the early 70's. I think the one I had back then was the Roadrunner's locomotive. Your kid's off to a nice start! David G.
  14. I shop at my LHS because if they don't have a kit I want in stock, they'll order it for me... and I don't have to pay ten dollars postage on a twenty dollar kit! David G.
  15. Take a higher resolution from farther away and crop it down to size. From a greater distance, the camera will focus on the whole truck rather than just what's in the center of the viewfinder. Nice truck, by the way! David G.
  16. Darren, Frequently, projects tend to change and evolve as we work on them; they sometimes take on a life of their own. I would say that this truck of yours fits into that category. So when it comes time to decide on how to paint it, let it speak to you as it has all along. Rusty and crusty or shiny and sparkly, do what's right for the build. Don't ever limit yourself! ...though I don't think you really have a problem in that area... Regards, David G.
  17. I'm not a NASCAR fan, but from what I see, it's not about the cars, it's about the stars. The cars don't seem to matter anymore, it's about the drama of the drivers. It's a little like WWE at 200 mph. David G.
  18. It's been a while since I thought of this one. In the meantime, I've acquired several Cutlass 442's, including a '66 and a couple of '70 or '71s. I also found a '70 Impala as a frame donor. Maybe I should scrape the pile together and see what I've got. Thanks to everybody for the input! David G.
  19. Here's one of mine. David G.
  20. It's all coming along quite nicely. The dash detail looks great. David G.
  21. Very cool! It looks like a car that a superhero would drive. David G,
  22. Maybe it's because they are rather simple machines made of heavy guage steel that can be repaired and modified using simple hand tools. There are also no computer chips to be fried by the EMP from the nukes. Or maybe these were the cars that the movie producers had available to them in the 70's when movies like this began to become popular. David G.
  23. It's all coming together very nicely! DavidG.
  24. Too Funny!!! ...wish I' have thought of that one.. David G
  25. Thanks, I was not aware of that. I'll kep it in mind as I male the modifications. David G.
