  1. Now all we need is Bob Pronger's 1953 Olds 88 to round out the field! David G.
  2. Very cool! I love the engine, you've achieved a great metallic finish on the blower and valve covers. David G.
  3. I don't think I've seen anything like that before. It looks WWII era, is that right? Nice camo paint and weathering. David G.
  4. I love flying cars! Excellent concept and body modification, but I would move the jet thrusters a bit more inboard. David G.
  5. A very good build- the interior is excellent! David G.
  6. A good solid looking build- great interior work. David G.
  7. Thanks for the pics Gregg. I have two of these on order from the LHS; it looks like I won't be disappointed. David G.
  8. For fuel and brake lines I usually use the wire from the twist ties that come in the boxes with the trash bags. I just strip off the outer plastic or paper coating and the steel wire inside is the perfect diameter and color for both applications. Hope this helps. David G.
  9. Excellent work on this one! The paint- detail- everything looks great! David G.
  10. I already have two on order from my LHS. David G.
  11. Really Doc? You use baby doll heads and scorpion tails as trim accessories on model cars and you're worried about the "proper" use of decals? But yes some of the others do bring up good points about period appropriate logos, etc., but other than that... the rest is up to you! David G.
  12. Excellent work! The added detail is a great finisher. David G.
  13. Nice rust effects! David G,
  14. Excellent work! It kind of looks amphibious. David G.
  15. Looking good Sean! For the intake, if it is (or if you want it to be) an aftermarket, Edelbrock, etc, then I would say aluminium colored like the transmission. A factory stock manifold would likely be cast iron and painted the same color as the engine block, or weathered and rusty looking. Your transmission looks like an automatic- the big square part on the bottom would be where the fluid reservoir, valve body and filter would be housed. Hope this helps. David G.
  16. Old swing axle Bugs only had one CV joint on the inner end of the axle. That's what causes the wheels to kick out when lowering the rear. The Bugs made after 1968 have a CV joint on both ends of the axle and can be lowered and keep a more proper wheel camber. The front was usually lowered with dropped spindles. So that looks about right. David G.
  17. Nope, flat six as far as I know. I'm not even sure there was ever a four cylinder engine offered. David G.
  18. The funny thing is, I can almost see Tommy Chong guest-starring as Mellow Dave, the record store man. David G.
  19. Wow, things have really gone down hill since Fred died. It looks as if he had a much greater influence on the "Neighborhood" than we thought. David G.
  20. I've been going to Hobby Bench at 19th Ave and Northern since the early 90's and a couple of the older cashiers greet me by name and chat with me when I stop in. Nearly everybody else who works there seems to recognize me as a regular customer, even if they don't know me by name. Aside from that, I shop there because they also have almost all the paints and other supplies I need for this hobby. I don't mind paying a few dollars more for a kit there, because in my mind those extra few dollars are helping to pay for the service of providing all those other hobby tools and supplies that places like Wal-mart and Target will never stock. I also feel welcome at Hobby Depot, even though I only shop there two or three times a year. I agree, the personal touch is important and it's still out there if you know where to look. David G.
  21. Excellent paint and detail. Can't wait to see more. David G.
  22. Was there a head shop in Mr. Roger's neighborhood? It looks like option B allows for a car repair business; the building second from the right with the big bay door. I'd go with that one. David G.
  23. Smoooth and deadly! Very cool. David G.
  24. Wow, that's a lot of work- well done! The Corvair has always been one of my favorite cars. Thanks for sharing yours. David G.
