  1. I like the plan Mike. Have you built one of these kits before? It’s been years for me...but I think some have an issue with the windshield fit along the top of the frame - maybe one area with a large gap on one corner or something.
  2. Krylon is hit and miss - for me, mostly miss. Also you can do a lot of reading as this topic comes up quite often: site:modelcarsmag.com krylon paint Plug that into the Google machine and you will get a list of all the threads dealing with Krylon paint and probably some good ideas too.
  3. They are useful, and I’ve also purchased from them, but when just perusing eBay for models, random part after random part isn’t as interesting as seeing a Jo-Han complete kit. As far as pricing, if people are paying, it’s a fair price - especially for non-essential items like model parts.
  4. I get annoyed at the amount of empty boxes on eBay, but then I wanted one to go with an AMT 62 Nova I have. The empty box sold for $28.00 plus $8.00 shipping. Not to me.
  5. One of the few new kits I purchased lately - because of the kart and, I admit, heavily influenced by the box art. The kart would be a perfect quick Covid-19 days at home project.
  6. Thanks for the clarification on the transmissions, Bill. I appreciate the knowledge. Not having grown up or worked around these cars I get confused.
  7. Threads like this are interesting - searching down parts and such. So, Bill, this photo is the real deal, I assume? Online searches offer way too many errors and direction changes to know exactly what’s what. Also, is the starter on the drivers side? Is that the little bulge on the lower bellhousing? Or does that change based on engine/bellhousing? I am curious because I have a 63 Bonneville and would be interested in making some of these changes. It’ll be great to see where Steve goes with his. Thanks!
  8. Here is the ‘62 Olds F-85 transmission, looks similar at first glance?
  9. Thanks for all the replies - Yup, fortunately it’s a simple shape. Carving one from styrene would be ok, but it has small ribs that wouldn’t be easy to do. I have some casting stuff around but I think it’s probably all bad from time and sitting idle. I’ll give the putty trick a try though!
  10. Oh yeah. That’s cool. That wasn’t in the USA Oldies releases was it? Ebay listing for OG release has it:
  11. The yellow 63 Olds Starfire probably $35-$40 62 Plymouth Fury convertible $15-20 maybe - looks like a broken window frame 63? Buick Riviera $30-40 I’ve been looking at a few so happen to see what stuff on eBay was going for Looks like the 65 Imperial is pretty good shape - should be like $50-75?
  12. Kind of frame worthy art work in that box. With the popularity of living in vans and cars these days, maybe they could repop this kit!
  13. Here is the back Scott. I’ll post down in wanted section and see what happens. Thanks!
  14. Nice. Two Grand Prix models at once is a treat.
  15. Nice model Jonathan. I think it looks great. Have you tried the technique using tape as a guide for fooling? Works well on those long straight lines when the x acto blade wants to wander.
  16. I got this 65 Rambler for $10 just to see if I could restore it. I kind of like the alligator like finish though.. Anybody know if the later issues of the Jo-Han Rambler kit have the same rear bumper and taillights? My kits is missing the bumper and one taillight.
  17. Nitto/Doyusha did a Skyhawk. It is an old motorized kit. It’s very basic. I don’t even think it has interior side panels. Kit photos from the internet.
  18. Some actually have a seam:
  19. It’s a totally random scale too - 1/15. If it was 1/16...
  20. I’m sure this has been mentioned around here over the last decade, but I have zero memory of seeing this kit (chances are there is a thread here with me commenting on it and this kit is in it...):
  21. Revell Black Widow 57 Chevy has six lug steel wheels. They are shallower than the ones in your photo though and would require an additional ring or something to deepen. The Revell Monogram Datsun Off Road pick up also has six lug steelies, but they have a little different design.
  22. I’m working from home. So a lot less time commuting and more time working on models, reading, and remodeling my bathroom. Sounds like we (Washington State) are going on a little more serious stay home order on Wednesday, so less going about. Thanks to all those still keeping the essentials running. People never thought night time stockers at the grocery store were so important!

    62 Belair

Pretty cool. I like the big flake look and the details. Great work.
