  1. Just getting back into things after the summer...and going through this thread of a car l love... Lots of good stuff and it looks like Moebius is making headway towards a great, very needed model. Now...about the wheels. I really like Pontiac 8 lugs and there are few sources for decent teplicas, I was hoping Moebius would come through. However, the test shot leaves a little to be desired. Lugs are oversized. But, on the fin spacing, not all of the drum fins are spaced evenly on one to one cars. Here is a 1960 Pontiac wheel: The fins are spaced similar to the Moebius wheels, but not so exaggerated. A little tweaking could fix them. Mainly, I think the wheel rim and lugs look oversized and over power he overall look of the kit wheel.
  2. My office for two weeks...Deception Complex Fire near Oakridge, OR...I get to change my view a lot through the season!
  3. This is the type of WIP I love to see. Worth every step. Thanks for posting all the work.
  4. I just got one on squadron for 42 and change - share the link on Facebook and get 25% off order...I don't really care what happens on FB, if I get 25% off, I'm happy.
  5. There is A LOT of money in that photo - don't most 2000gts sell from $750,000 and up? I saw a picture of one in the Phillipines being restored on the street!
  6. Very cool. Great looking models. The 2000GT is one of my favorite all-time car designs. Hasegawa did make a full detail kit - rare - believe the engine was white metal. One was floating around on eBay a while back - thinking $150 or something???
  7. Saw that on Bring a Trailer - leaky garage and years of it...
  8. Plate almost looks like "SLOW" too... I like the white. I like white cars, though. It's a tough color to paint models.
  9. Very cool. Great work. As noted above, the exhaust is wrong. Should have the diesel set up with a dual tip out the back (with cooling vents - these were pre-exhaust fluid but did cycle the "burn" to clean out the exhaust). Thank god they didn't do the awful V-10... Going to have to fabricate the base model headlights for mine too...they have black plastic around an inset headlight and turn signal. Bummer about the tires - aftermarket is going to have fill that void.
  10. Gorgeous paint and super clean. Very nice model
  11. Even that business model is getting tough - talking to the one hobby shop here that caters to models and lots of RC (they are plane specialists), the last year has been the toughest ever - in something like 40 years. There is way too much competition online and from other "hobbies" (staring at smart phones for hours...like I'm doing now...) Take them in while they last, but a handful of us can't save them all.
  12. New listing with additional photo:
  13. Mica is finer than regular metallics but a little more coarse than pearls - to my eye... As stated above, the clears are meant to paint over a base. The metallics are kind of Bass Boatish - very large flakes for 1/24 scale. The light red is pink - the final hue depends on the color of primer or base.
  14. Yeah, my thoughts too. It's a mid-model car - not real luxury, not real sporty - kind of Camary-ish or something. The Veloster is a neat car and performs fairly well in the turbo model - while still maintaining some efficiency. I would have seriously considered buying one if it had five seats (I have an Elantra GT instead). Don't get me wrong - I LIKE odd, mid-level type stuff. I just find it weird Academy picked this car out of the Korean line...
  15. Great looking model. I really like the finish on the boards.
  16. Looks very nice. Maybe adjust your lighting to get more on the camera side of the model so we can see it better. Cool videos too.
  17. There are some Hyundais assembled in the US - Elantras in Alabama I believe. So, they are contributing some as well. Everybody has opinions about car makers and that's cool, but Hyundai was one of the only car companies that actually grew during the market crash from 2008 to, well, now. So, like them or not, they are a successful company - and as global as all markets are, no company is truly all American anymore.
  18. The Azera is available in the US - it's kind of he little cousin to the Genesis. The Sonata is the next line below the Azera. It is odd they chose a mid level model and not the Genesis or top of the line Equus.
  19. Yeah, me too on the Genesis. The Azera actually has more HP than the 2.0 liter Genesis coupe.
  20. Yeah, my bad. It's actually an Azera.
  21. There are a couple on eBay (shipping from Korea) - outside of that, I haven't seen anything else... If you can interpret anything here: http://www.academy.co.kr/6q/board_news_main.asp?pMenuId=BOARD00002&pCode=7108&pCategory=NEWS2 Nothing about it on the Academy English language site.
  22. What? No buzz surrounding Academy's all new tool Hyundai Azera model? I haven't been able to dig up much on this kit yet...says "quick build" and "multi color parts" - so, snap kit or???
  23. Just got that about two months ago - I didn't realize how hard it is to find RC kits! When I was younger, they were all kits - now, nobody wants to spend the time putting things together, I guess. It's a great RC crawler and looks cool to boot.
  24. Yeah, see the Moebius post... Plus, I thought if we complained, they would stop making them... This kit may suffer long term from the inaccuracies - fool me once, shame on me...
