disabled modeler replied to nboldman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Man that is a major bummer... Before my accident I had my own auto repair shop broke into while we were gone...took 1,000.oo worth of stuff some not mine that I had to replace. Really hope they catch them. -

None....but it would be nice to be able to save the shipping cost and purchase some in my area. -

Id love to have a REAL hobby shop nearby....but have none so shipping can also effect what I can pay for an item too. I agree with some here the newest re-issues are great to see coming out but it seems there always a hobby shop only thing...Why??? There has been many recent re-issues Id buy if they were able to be purchased around here due to my low income or lack of....many with shipping added in is just too high in the final total for me. Id gladly rebuild an old one or see the older kits in stores around here...they would sell easily. Revell items are easy to get around here for the most part but Id like to see more older AMT,MPC,Johan types here once they do get re-issued or if they do. Its kind of a bummer when the garage sales are better places to look for something different. Locally Id pay 20.oo to 25.oo if it was an older or more interesting re-issue that has not been out in years...you know they would sell if the market is as open as it is here....closest real hobby shop is ether St.Louis,MO. or Springfield,IL. -
That is cool !

Darin.... Id pay 25.oo for a kit if it was something that had not been over re-issued for the last 15 to 20 years or had all the extras removed to save plastic...for many of us the extras can make the sale...optional building versions like the 3 in 1s from yesteryear giving the buyer the choice to build anyway they want to and use extra parts on the next purchase. I do not care if the re-issue of an old kit that has not seen the light of day in 20 years has the metal axles or if its a curbside ether as long as it is not something everyone has built 10 or so models of. Say for instance if they would bring out the 67 to 70 Bonneville HT...Id pay 25 or 30 for it in a heartbeat. The convert was a very welcomed sight to see back out years ago with or without the boat. I have the original 57 Chevy kit... if you have something of great interests to me Id trade it. -
display idea

A old glass showcase from a store makes a great display cabinet and some even have a light in them. -
Looking for some GTOs
disabled modeler replied to jaydar's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
MPC made the 68,69,70 HTs but think the only one that was a convert was the 68?...old hard to find and expensive if you do. Id try converting one into a convert....I have a project to convert the 70 into one but need to find a up-top for it. -
I really hope they wont be a hobby shop only item like most older re-issues. My brother had the original one with the rail dragster...always wanted one.

I hope not George....Been looking for some Johans for years so I can re-live some of my childhood but do better at it this time.

Looks like a good place to start to me....lots of possibilities.

Very nice!...just like the one I use to have only mine ended up 4 foot shorter in the back.

I like both scales ...however some 1/24th scale models look so out of scale when placed next to a 1/25th scale and same for the other way around. For me I just prefer the 1/25th scale for the most part. Now some 1/24th scale and 1/25th scale models look very close in scale when together as a side by side comparison of the same basic model. There are many great kits in both scales some not made by the other....when it boils down to it if its a good kit-its a good kit regardless of scale. A kit is only as good as you make it when building but some have their qualities others do not too.

Would you pay more...

I think if the box art shows white wall tires they should be included in the kit....correct ones like the 70 series white walls would be great the skinnys look goofy on many models. -
Nice work. I like the Ponchos....been wanting to find a few myself from the late 60s.
