Boxes for 1/25 collection
disabled modeler replied to mikemich's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Mike.... Your lucky to have them...I am too for my dads old ones even though they need parts..etc. Boxes like the others said are good choices just remember they will have weight if one would stack them up on each other so you wont cause any damage to them. I use boxes and I have a display cabinet to protect them I use...one from an old store...it works very well. Even at that we had a tornado here in 2011 and some got lost and others damaged sadly...one has to protect them as much as possible. I even use old kit boxes for storage plus I like the old boxes and their artwork....there are many good choices for storage just make sure there not in a wet...damp or hot environment so there safe. -

Scott buddy... That was so nice of him to do for you your lucky. Nice to see some out there that just want them to have a good home where they will be loved and appreciated. I like your style helping kids get into the hobby too...very nice of you to do. Thinking of others has its rewards.

I love this little stuff the kits came with....slowly adding to my collection of them...too slowly. They make great diorama items too....dirt bikes..rider mower...go carts...mini bikes..scale figures...shop equipment...gas station related items...tools...campers...etc.....I have a soft spot of these things myself.

Datsun 620 Pickup
disabled modeler replied to afx's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I built this kit when it came out the first time many years ago...loved it. -
Id love to see them bring out many vehicles that have not seen the light of day in over 30+ years that any company made once or ones that never were.

I am a huge fan of the 60s/70s promos just love them...same for the old AMT Craftsman series kits. I find it very rewarding to restore them for the collection. AMT..MPC..Johan...etc. made them and some really nice cool ones...sometimes its the only way to get a certain vehicle in scale plastic. They made them in 2 door...4 door..wagons..pickups...convertibles...HTs...even some odd off the wall stuff for construction equipment and campers or motorhomes were once made. Most promos will have a molded in hood and a engine chassis plate with slotted screws holding it all together...dated bumpers of the vehicles year it was of. Many had vehicles details on the chassis bottom with selling features of the vehicle. The 60s and 70s had some great ones...man i love those things..LOL..

Steve.... id be too happy just to have a Johan 66 Chrysler 300 HT....LOL...my dad owned one and I want to make a replica of his. There are times where Ill de-tune a vehicle into a el-cheapo version with a 6cyl engine where separate exhaust would be nice so I could put single ones on them but I am just too happy to have them in the fist place.

I can appreciate all the work that goes into the highly detailed chassis on builds here but feel the same way...I figure one has to build them to make themselves happy with them. Me..for one I hate the plastic axle pins that give over time letting the front look like it needs an alignment ...love the metal axles they never give up. I am a fan of the curbside or promo like ones too...they can be built into very nice replicas like the old Craftsman series kit were.
