  1. Sorry to hear this happened to your project Bill.....I have had those days too and had strange paint issues from out of the blue. The 69 Plymouth 4 door wagon I built was one of them...after a month of bodywork and filler had the body in great shape and ready to paint...one coat of paint and it had a strange reaction for some reason...had to strip it all off and start over including the filler. Good luck with it. Remember...if one falls from a horse the best thing to do is get right back on it and try again.
  2. I am sure it was Dave...I need to make a replica of one of these like one my dad owned once...going to be loads of bodywork and part hunting. His was a early 70s 3/4 ton 2wd long bed.
  3. Welcome Roberto...! There are many very helpful people here. Like you I build 1/25th...1/24rth...and want to start in on some 1/8th scale stuff sometime just to see how much detailing I can ad to them. Best advise I ever got was to treat every part as if it were a model itself and building is no race take you own time.
  4. Very nice....the 6 lug ones are just like the ones on our 84 Chevy 4x4.
  5. If all else fails you can find another frame that could be used for it from another model at times. Another option is to make one yourself if possible..?..it can be challenging to do though. Id place a post under the wanted thread here for one and see what happens.
  6. I have been at it for over 40 years now and will never be a master at it. There is always room for improvement or learning to do better with them. I have learned new skills from people in their 80s and ones in their teens yet...everyone has something to contribute we can learn from.
  7. True Nick...good information.
  8. Harry....hang in there. Like Richard said many times SS denies most people the first time...I had to get a disability attorney to finally get mine going. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
  9. Thanks Gary...been looking for the K-wagon version kit they made.
  10. Welcome Jeremy...! Passion for plastic we all have here. Were happy to have you with us all. Looking forward to seeing your work.
  11. I like it very cool. id love to have a 70 LTD like that one.
  12. Very cool displays gents....love them all. Yep that is what i was thinking of for the bottom of my show cases to mount wheels on them. I plan to use plywood for a base for my large diorama project....not too sure if I can make the large plexiglass cover myself I know they use a special glue that is transparent once dry and it holds very well. My diorama will be of a 60s Gas station with service bay, etc. Ill have to see if I can find one of those MRC gas station kits for a starting point.
  13. Hang in there Russ...been through some very rough times myself...you can do it one step at a time. Glad your going to be building...its great therapy for you...has been for me. I went through the depression of being the bread winner of the house...there is only so much you can do. If you feel the need to talk feel free to PM me anytime.
  14. Nice show cases gents...! I too use old store show cases and others. Love the wheels under them too...wish mine had them...may have to look into doing just that with mine. I have plans to build a very large diorama but will need to make or get a plexiglass cover made for it...around 1/8 inch thick x 1 1/2 foot tall x 3 foot long x 2 1/2 foot deep...challenging aspect.
  15. Fred.... I am loving this build...I am a huge fan of wagons....very cool project.
  16. Some builders dislike the Johan and other older curbside kits....not me...I love them just as much as the full detail ones. Ill build them any day even though some had their issues.
  17. COOL....! I need more wagons...LOL..!
  18. Oh VERY nice Jeff...! I wish they would/could re-issue the Dodge truck kits like that so I could relive some of my childhood days...sweet finds..!
  19. Very nice project....I too have plans to build family owned replicas of vehicles we owned over the years.
  20. Just take your time on her....the guys are right and very good advise. I stripped an old 60 Ford HT promo once in brake fluid...was a bad idea due to the weaker plastic they used for it. Yours should be the better stuff and easier to strip with out and damage to it.
