  1. Another hurdle has been cleared! Foiling is done! It sucks when you have to add Metal Foil Adhesive before you have to add your Bare Metal Foil. More Plymouth to come...
  2. The Story McNally arrives home from his breakfast meeting with Attorney Charlotte Rothman. He parks the Super Bee in the driveway and goes into the house and upstairs to his bedroom to change into his work clothes so he can work on his old Plymouth ‘Cuda. An old t-shirt, jeans and sneakers and he is off to the garage with a bottle of water to work on the Dart. He unlocks the garage door and lifts the door over his head and walks inside and over to the bench where the Six Barrel carbs are sitting on the bench. He turns on the lights and picks up a screwdriver and finishes assembling one of the three carbs that go on the engine and he works on the carbs for several hours. The old Plymouth ‘Cuda was a project for him and getting it running again was a requirement for McNally. The car had been between his garage and his friend Vic’s shop for some time and he wanted to get it running again. He had been working on the carbs for several hours when he hears someone coming up the driveway towards the garage. He kept a Smith & Wesson Model 36 .38 caliber revolver with a 3 inch barrel hidden on the bench top just in case of emergency, but it wasn’t needed today as it was only Det. Steven Darvell waddling up to the garage. “McNally, you should post a sign on the front door telling people you are in the garage,” says Darvell walking into the garage. “Detective, I don’t do that with the hope that they would just go away. What do you want?” “You are going to introduce me to Alexander Cannon. Let’s go,” he says grabbing McNally’s arm. McNally throws off Darvell’s hand and says, “Why should I introduce you to Cannon?” “Because I said so,” Darvell says as he grabs McNally by the arm again. Once again, McNally throws off Darvell’s hand, jumps off his workbench stool and grabs and twists Darvell’s arm behind his back and pushes him up against the ‘Cuda. Darvell rests his head against the roof of the ‘Cuda and sighs. McNally lets go of the over-weight detective and lets him turn around to face the Boston PI. “What the Hell is the matter with you? You have never approached me like this before.” The Build I got the Charger into a coat of Dupli-Color grey primer in prep for the Dupli-Color Forest Green Pearl paint. McNally will return...
  3. Since the paintbooth was fired up today, I painted the firewall and the rooftop with Tamiya TS-26 Pure White. The rooftop will get a coating of flat or semigloss clear afterwards. More Model A to come...
  4. I am liking this GTX convertible, John! Good job!
  5. Thanks Bob!
  6. A great job done on your Land Rover!
  7. Thanks John and Tony! Since I have been swearing off Model Master/Testors paints, my next choice was Tamiya paints. Tamiya paints are a very forgiving paint and I have used it with and without primer with no issues at all. One thing I have been doing lately is washing the body and related parts with Dawn Dish Detergent to remove any mold release that is on the plastic.
  8. Thanks Trevor, Randy, Carl, John and Andrew! I love this color and now I am starting to realize why some kits take so long to build. It's the details that I like to add.
  9. The engine came from the AMT 1971 Duster 340 kit. I originally got the 340 for another project, but that was cancelled as I had a change of heart. Many Dart GTS' came with the 340 engine, so I added that engine to my build.
  10. Thanks Chrlie, Bob and Tom!
  11. Thanks Tim! The engine came from the AMT '71 Duster 340 kit. I removed the 4-speed transmission and added the TorqueFlite transmission in its place.
  12. I have finished assembloing the wheels and tires, but I am undecided about what to do with the gap between the whitewall and the wheel. The interior sides are in, but they could use a little detailing. I also painted the interior roof white. Then I wired the engine and once the body and interior has been added, I'll add the ignition coil. More Model A to come...
  13. Exceellent build, Tim Boyd! Just so you know, I built a '69 Dart GTS with a 340 CID engine and auto transmission and the "recall mags" 3 years ago.
  14. I have resigned myself to using Tamiya spray cans for the future and they do have some really nice colors. If I need a specific color for a build, I guess I will have to go to the internet for my paint. With all the changes happening in the modeling world and in life in general, I am having a tough time keeping up with all the changes.
  15. Thanks Michael and Stephen! Michael, like any kit that I have built over the years, this one has issues like any other. Even the excellent Tamiya kits have a few small issues, but not like Revell or AMT/MPC kits. I have noticed that new Revell of Germany kits are getting better with their mold technology, but reissues do leave out the mention of some parts and decals. We as modelers can swap parts and pieces and allow them to fit or we can make them fit.
  16. Thanks Carl! This build has been on the back burner for some time and a Build-Off on another forum presented an oppotunity to build this Charger.
  17. Thanks Carl, Bob and David! David, did you know that Rustoleum bought Testors? IMHO, Rustoleum does not know the scale model community and they bought Testors just for their client base. That is possibly why they are doing away with Testors Lacquers and others. Testors lousy cans leak and I had a brand new can of paint leak and empty itself of all propellant and the can was just over a year old and still sealed. Then they take the enamel spray paints and take out some of the pigment and offer it for sale to the modeling public. Then they push Rustoleum to the public and offer the same lousy cans in a larger size with the same lousy paint. Now I can understand why Testors products remain on the shelf at the hobby shop and not be sold!
  18. Another coat of Model Master Green Go and this can is done! So much orange peel that I think was from the lack of pressure inside the can and I even warmed the can up! These old cans from Testors/Model Master are lousy!!! More Plymouth to come...
  19. Thanks Carl!
  20. Thanks Bob! I use the Gelly Roll pens to create my own whitewalls or to touchup a missing line somewhere. I'm debating with myself on what I should use.
  21. Thanks Bob! I got the tires assembled, but the whitewalls don't go all the way to the inner edge of the tire by the wheel. I may have to paint this with some flat white or use my white Gelly Roll pen as I had used on the front tires. I fired up the paintbooth and I painted the engine and the dash panel with Tamiya TS-23 Light Blue. More Model A to come...
  22. The Story Det. Steven Darvell returns to Boston Police Headquarters. He waddles into the Homicide Squad Room and he clears his small desk of the empty coffee cups, candy wrappers, and a rotting bologna sandwich that he never finished eating, which is unusual in itself now that it sat on his desk for two days. He takes his trash can to empty it and when he returns; he sits down and opens a bag of donuts he picked up on the way in. The donut he pulls out is covered with a lot of powdered sugar and he takes bite out of it and the sugar falls all over the computer keyboard that he was trying to type on. Adam is watching him from his office and only shakes his head knowing that McNally is correct about Darvell, a waddling, talking slob. He finds the mouse to his computer and finds an empty report to fill out. His best and fastest typing is the old hunt and peck method. This is going to take a while. The Build The chassis is mostly assembled. I just need to add the exhaust system and then do some touchups. McNally will return...
  23. Thanks John, Bob, Stephen, Carl and Bob! This color is close to the box art and I had just fallen in love with it! And, this is one of my better paint jobs!
  24. Thanks for the offer David! You are correct that there is the internet as well and I do use it quite often, especially since my laptop is on the workbench next to my projects.
  25. I painted the body, wheels, side panels and frame for the '30 Model A with Tamiya TS-23 Light Blue. Looks great! More Model A to come...
