  1. our club had its annual swapmeet last night and this is what the wife came home with, Camaro for her son and Tamiya mini for her 13yr old daughter and this is my score although she picked up the big scale 55 for me daytona, mono 69 camaro body couple of snaptights windscreen pillers are broken on both and 1 at least has broken back window parts for a couple of pickups
  2. Thanks man, most of this one is from a guy in the petrolheads club, I have cast my own but cant do a pour till I get some new resin (hopefully in a couple of weeks). Then I'll only have to get hats off him. And no I didnt copy his stuff I modified some kit stuff from a funnycar.hes way to nice a guy to rip off and he taught me most of what I know about casting.
  3. Great stff John, very insperational to say the least.
  4. nice stance. those wheels came up alright, never really did anything with mine because of the backs, might have to revist that now
  5. cause its not quite stock but not what I would call custom. Pretty much box stock using the 409 other than that some nice rough cast spoked cragars(?) with molded on valve stems and some big resin brakes out back. Color is pearl white and it will have the roof and scallops the same color as the aircleaner. pay no attention to the motor on the back
  6. Thanks guys, tis appreciated. Well had to redo the green striping anyway, nearly three weeks later while decaling the gel rbbed off so have redone it with green enamel.
  7. Insulation from wire looks good especially if you use bits of fine wire for ties, just cut it lengthways pull the wire out cut to length and place on cage. Wheelie bars, I use or modify kit ones. Spoilers, depends on type. Huge pro mod types are reasonably easy, cut piece of sheet styrene to width ( usually just wider than trunk lid) sides, well the bottom needs to follow that cars body line, top just look at the same type of car (google etc) to see what shape you want/like/need. Sketchout that onto some light card ,test fit to car when happy transfer to sheet styrene and glue to the big flat piece making sure its level on both sides, when happy glue to car and blend wing deck to the body with putty. Chutes, just find some resin ones, not expensive ,well worth it you'ld be very hard pressed to get any detail out of scratchbuilts. If you're too broke (trust me I KNOW THIS ONE) your best bet would be making a block out of layers of styrene and carving/filing to shape
  8. Glenn, can you use rod? the three of four brass frames I've done were a done by using brass welding wire. Can be bent by hand so tube benders should handle it, take s a little more to heat for the solder to flow nicely but if you use something for heat dispersion (like vice grips) its not too bad. Way cheaper too.
  9. For all your problems, you sure got it to come up nice. Good save. Some of the dorkland shops get BMF in alternitively I'm gonna order some soon(stateside) can grab an xtra if you'ld like.
  10. great build as always John
  11. great job Bob
  12. Kenny, to step in for Niko for a minute, I've built about a dozen of these frames check out the doorslammers menu in my photobucket. They can be a littlie tricky around the drivers partof the cage but otherwise are pretty much hassle free. I have noticed a few builds with a wheel up but that just means you have to pay a little bit more attention when glueing the front strut assembly in place.hope this helps a bit . Niko, nice build
  13. Thanks guys , it is hugely appreciated
  14. Thanks guys
  15. another ebay bodiy, another modified top sportsman chassis and again resin fc engine. and one together
  16. Not sure that I should post this on the samepage as Wayne and John T, but here goes lol. Body came from ebay Australia, chassis is slightly modified from the 57 prosportsman kit. Engine is a resin fc copy updated with everything resin or scratchbuilt. Paint was inspired by Hot rods By Burke and is nail polish over ppg silver metallic.
  17. GREGG, Johns posting pics of real cars again!!! Wow John, talk about perfect execution, you build with the precision of a machine. Great job man!

  20. very cool oldscool, love that color and tha bumper looks great tucked back where its supposed to be
  21. got the wheels off a friend who has them cast , not sure where he got the from tho ,sorry. Will try and find out over the weekend
  22. why not just use the top sportsman kit frame and floor ? not sure off hand about the wheelbase difference but its easy enough just to cut and modify the front of the frame to length. check out mine here if you want http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v392/awesome55/doorslammers/ most of these use modified ts frames. Gonna follow this one along so shout out if you want/need help Brett
