  1. Hello All. Looking to build a model of my friend's Mustang from when we were (much) younger. He always referred to it as a "64 and a half" model. I'm aware of the old 1/16 scale AMT kit, but would like to build something in the more common 1/25 or 1/24 scale. Thoughts on how to best approach this? From some of what I've read, the differences between the early 1965's (aka 64 1/2) and other 1965 models are really just minor details that might not be noticed in scale. This is not his, but it looked a lot like it, if memory serves. Thanks in advance.
  2. Really enjoying seeing this. Nice work so far!
  3. That is a beautiful build. Nice work!
  4. Thanks! At least the surf boards survived. The resin rear bumper actually broke into 3 pieces - I hope I can salvage that. I may make a few small changes as I rebuild this - to be determined...
  5. Well ... decided to strip the body and start over. Goal is to salvage as much as possible from the original build. *sigh* Cleaned up (again), primed, and got the top painted. I'll have to do something about the marker lights and such, as they've lost some detail from all of the painting, striping, sanding, priming cycles.
  6. Getting close. I took a chance on the Rallye decals and I'm not sure if I like them or not. The AMT (Round2) decals confirm to curves "okay". I should have waited until the side panels dried completely before adding the hood decals. I got ahead of myself (I blame the dehydrator) and now I have a big fat gap in the stripe across the front quarter panel. It's done now. Need to add mirrors, possibly an antenna, and I now see that I forgot to paint the front marker/signal lights.
  7. What a beautiful build! And nice photography, too.
  8. Nice work. I always thought this was a pretty classy paint scheme.
  9. Far out! This thing is awesome.
  10. Trim completed, wheels stripped and sprayed with Alclad, Interior finished.
  11. Nicely done! I tried to build the Heller kit when I was kid and was, no surprise, unsuccessful. Impressive work with the decals.
  12. Awesome work. Cast this body in resin and sell us a few copies! Really enjoying what you've done so far; and as others have stated, it'll be nice to see a "different" Cobra!
  13. Thank you. I need to take pictures outside - but it's raining here today.
  14. Thank you. In person, it's sorta, kinda, maybe a little close to Grenoble Green. Well, definitely 70's green of some shade.
  15. Marathon masking to shot a small bit of Alclad. I'm not sure what the black spot is on the passenger rear. I've tried to polish it out, and I polished through the clearcoat and started hitting the base color, so I stopped. Think I'll mount an antenna there to hide it. (I "think" it's the panel liner accent that I was using, but not sure...) Lots of orange peel in this one, but I'm going to live with it. I'm certain the engine is the wrong color, but given the total lack of detail under the hood, I'll probably glue the hood shut anyway. Interior is straight from the box.
  16. This will be cool; looking forward to seeing more.
  17. Still looking for these parts - I know it's sort of a long shot. If someone has a built up that is salvageable for these parts, I'd be grateful. (parts 13, 14, and "Interior" with it's molded on frame)
  18. Boy does the cell phone camera make something look bad. Nothing glued in yet ...
  19. So very sorry to read about your brother - so young. As others have stated - very nice work on your builds. I'm sure they hold even more meaning now.
  20. Thank you for following along on my other build - that disaster and hopefully soon subsequent rebuild is mostly documented here: In the meantime, I snagged a good deal on another Scout II kit and decided to do the smart thing and build it straight from the box, so here goes: So far, I've painted most parts. I plan to "carpet" the front of the cab with some flocking. Color is old Testor's Model Master Green Go (Dodge 1970/71) Sublime Green. These were cool paints and I hate that they were discontinued. In retrospect, I probably should have decanted and used my airbrush, but I've made it this far. White top is Tamiya primer, followed by a thin coat of Tamiya Pure White. The black is Mr. Finishing Surfacer 1500 Black, and the reddish seats are Tamiya Oxide Red primer. I'll carpet the front with flocking and need to figure what color to paint the (barely present) door cards.
  21. Really nice looking work!
  22. Thank you, Jeff. I looked through their stuff and while I didn't find anything specific to the Scout, I did find a bunch of other stuff I'd like to try!
  23. Like I need another project, but I'm looking over my stash of Monogram Cobra kits and thinking it's been too long since I built one. That said - has anyone used this after market engine by VCG Resins? I'm tempted to try it, but wanted to see if anyone had any experience with it. Wondering if the through-the-body headers (and side pipes) will work with the Monogram (now Revell) kit... https://www.vcgresins.com/shop/p/shelby-cobra-fe-ford-big-block-engine-kit
  24. Just going to bring this right back to the top because it is such epic work. @65slotcar - did you finish the entire fleet of Cobras?
