  1. Hello all, Was there ever a kit of the Ford Bronco II (the "baby" Bronco of the 80's) in kit form? Just wondering; would like to possibly build my brother-in-law's first car. Thanks in advance.
  2. Beautiful build
  3. Beautiful build!
  4. Thanks for the tip about the glass. Hopefully the next paint job is better. If I don't have to do some paint correction, or even a complete repaint, I don't always feel like I've accomplished anything
  5. So very cool! Especially like the rotting wooden bed floor. Still looks like a restorable candidate
  6. So I didn't want to get bogged down .... ? I actually have a couple of these '57 Cameos in my stash. Being pretty unhappy with the overly thick paint, I decided to start over. I pulled a body out of another box, cleaned it up, and have primed it and am ready to go. In the meantime, I'm trying to strip the paint from the original body and will probably finish it in some color other than white. So, here's body #2, which will be dropped onto frame #1. Hopefully.
  7. Thanks for sharing the trick about preventing ghosting. Looks like you're off to a good start.
  8. OH wow, that is the coolest thing I have seen today. Beautiful work.
  9. Haha, I just went back and saw your reply to my earlier thread about Bombay Ivory. You really did a great job with what I think is a somewhat finicky kit.
  10. Wow! That looks really good! I'm impressed for sure. What did you use for the paint?
  11. Thanks for that - it does seem straightforward to fix. Oh, that looks nice! Really appreciate the visual.
  12. Well, on the positive side, I'm actually pretty happy with the color. But, there are a lot of thin spots, and I really, really botched my masking job this time! I can probably polish off the red over-spray, but the over all inconsistency in the paint thickness is apparent in the white. I'm thinking I may strip this one.
  13. I'll probably pick up one copy - I'm a sucker I guess. So, does "New Parts!" mean, "we made new parts" or does it mean, "we found some parts of the mold and reinstated those."?
  14. Not much of an update, but I did polish out the paint today. Burned though the spears on the hood a little bit, but I think (hope) I can salvage that. Maybe I can finish the red trim tomorrow
  15. Yes, Sir! I caught that - thankfully.
  16. I hope so - we'll see how it looks after I polish it. I agree! Thank you. Did you do anything regarding the void under the cab? Or just leave it as is? (I'm probably going to leave it for the sake of not getting bogged down)
  17. Little background - my long-suffering wife gave me this kit ages ago because she liked the white on red. But, at the time, I was hesitant to start the kit, because my success with white finishes has been less than stellar So, trying to decide the best hobby paint for "Chevrolet Bombay Ivory", I primed the model with Tamiya white primer. Following some discussion in the Model Building Questions and Answers section, I shot a few coats of Tamiya Racing White TS-7 over it and here we are. Guess I'll finish it, because of course I should start another project! Thanks to everyone who provided some insight into possible solutions to "what color is it really?"
  18. Well ... Here is Tamiya TS-7 Racing White over Tamiya White primer: Looks more "yellow" or "cream" under indoor lighting. I guess I'll run with it and start a build thread....
  19. Thanks all - I went TS-7 Racing White. It does look a bit buttery - ok, more ivory. But, I think the color is probably representative of the era. I'll post pictures in a bit. More to come ...
  20. Whoa that is amazing!
  21. Comparing the paint to the whitewalls on that first image really makes the paint look more creamy white. That's helpful, I think. (Again, knowing colors on screen may look different than in real life.) I kind of feel like colors probably were not as brilliant then as they can be now. ---- A while back - I did experiment once with Tamiya Insignia White, followed by one thinish coat of Pure White and ended up with this (seen here on a yet-to-be finished '57 Chevy). It looks a tad gray to me, but I think somewhere between Racing White and whatever this is may be what I'm after. I'd kind of forgotten that I'd started this kit. (good grief!) ---- Thanks for pointing out my typo. And you make a good point, testing some spoons or the like for future reference.
  22. Maybe this has been answered before, but if so, I can't find it. I've become fond of Tamiya spray lacquers, so I'm hoping I can stick with that. I was gifted an AMT 1957 Cameo some years ago and started working on it recently. I'd like to build it in Bombay White Ivory, which to my eye doesn't look like "pure white" at all (comparing this picture - note the body paint as compared to the whitewalls). Is Tamiya TS-7 "Racing White" too yellow? Other options? I recognize that colors on the screen can be much more subjective than in person, but was hoping someone had already been down this path and could share their experiences.
  23. This question has turned into a more interesting conversation that I could have imagined. Thank you, all! I did pick up the 1966 AMT Mustang ... but that grill. I'm surprised there are no 3D printed offerings for the 65 (64.5) grill.
  24. My buddy's car didn't have seat belts in it - I remember because a state law requiring seatbelts was passed when we were teenagers and we didn't if it mattered since the car was older. Very sorry to hear the car was stolen.
  25. Thank you all. @R. Thorne - that was the same kit I just picked up to start with. @1972coronet - I didn't know about the reverse lamps - that's interesting! @Ace-Garageguy - great article - thank you for that! @Dr Cobra - thank you, those small details are so cool. --- Is the 1965 Grill readily available in kit or aftermarket form? This is the '65, and includes the vertical bars, and the "mesh" behind the grill looks different than the '66 (I'm sure you guys all know that, just trying to find this in scale). Found this nice graphic:
