  1. Thank you for this. I miss the old Testors Metallizers This looks nice.
  2. That faux hood scoop - classic!
  3. Oh, that's nice
  4. Beautiful work! Everyone needs to build this kit at least once.
  5. Oh, cool. And you built it like the box art?
  6. Has anyone ever seen this version actually built? I have one buried in my stash, but the decals seem ... dauting!
  7. Axles are glued on - finally. Once dry, I'll pull the wheels off again and attach some shocks. I don't know if that's prototypically correct, but seems better than "just" the leaf springs. The stance front and back is, I feel, a little better. The rear axle actually more-or-less centered, in spite of my poor quick phone camera action. So, I feel like I'm getting somewhere finally.
  8. Some small updates, finally! Added some odds and ends to the interior - cooler is from "Miniature Spice", which also supplied the surfboards. These are small 1/24 detail sets from Japan, but I haven't seen any of them in a long time. Milkcrate is from Iceman Productions, the gas can is from the spares box (It has straps and a mounting base molded on - not sure where it came from). I scratched up the rollbar as mentioned earlier - only to discover that it's a bit too short. I'm leaving it though. The spare tire is from the Scout kit. If you've built this kit, you know that the "rubber" part of the tire is incomplete and that part of the backing plate makes up the tire. Weird. To resolve this, I took two tires from the kit and cut the sidewall from one and glued it into another. I took a spare wheel from my stash, drilled out the lug holes and pinned the whole assembly to the interior of the Scout. Once assembled, I hope it looks ok. I also made a set of sunvisors and fashioned a rearview mirror to hang some fuzzy dice on - not pictured here. I cut up and reassembled the axles and leaf springs (molded as one unit each) in an effort to work towards a slight lift. I may have miscalculated ... but I think the front will come down just a tad once I start gluing things together. Wheels and tires are from Fireball.
  9. The Tamiya kit! Of course - forgot I had that in the stash. thank you!
  10. Does any kit have these "towel bar" bumpers in them? Maybe I could fashion something, but figured I'd ask if anyone know if such existed. I am absolutely NOT a Beetle expert, but of my kits (Gunze, Revell, Hasegawa) none of them appear to have these bumpers. (I notice the first one is an older oval window, the second car is a later square window) And of course, Bumblebee of Transformer fame, at least here, appears to have the towel bar bumpers:
  11. Oh.... Looks like a good bunch to me
  12. Wow! This has been fun to watch.
  13. There seems to be a lot of confusion about the ol' 70's/80's swirladelic oil paint on water swirl technique, versus hydro dip film. The film is what I was initially asking about. I've also heard it called "hydrographics film" and "water transfer printing film". Regardless, I don't know how thick the film might be, but here is an 1:1 example:
  14. Nice to see one of these being worked on; it seems like you don't see the early Corvettes too often.
  15. Revisiting - this really looks sweet. Any pictures of a built example?
  16. Nice work so far, and that paint! Nice.
  17. Oh, my - that is a nice looking model! Just wow! Amazing! (I always thought a mainstream company would offer the 1st Dakota, since they were so popular... I'm glad you've created this) I'm afraid that I have a lot of questions! In terms of wheelbase, how does this compare to the 3nd generation Lindberg kit? I know that was only a snap / curbside, but I think the wheelbase is spot on and if I recall correctly, the wheelbase was the same between the first and second generation truck. Any chance you have the "areo" grill of the 91+ (or was it 92+) models? Do you offer an extended cab version? What about wheels like this one? Most importantly, how does one get a copy of your kit? Thanks for indulging my questions.
  18. Seems there would be a lot of options for one. Oh the possibilities .... Shelby Sport Sport Convertible
  19. Very nicely done! My Granddad had a 1984 Fleetwood; your build really brings back the memories.
  20. Oh wow! What a cool build! I'm glad Dan dug this up.
  21. This most recent issue, is the tried-and-true Cobra from forever? I'm assuming no changes? The last time I got this kit was the "Street Burner" boxing, which had great decals, but the overall detail and molding seemed to be less crisp than previous releases. thanks!
  22. Really nice work combining that dash and those wheels. Looks great!
  23. Thank you - I tend to build in fits and spurts. Lots of progress and then ... distraction.
  24. Oh, I wish I could take credit for that engine compartment! That's the work of Dennis (dino246gt). His Scout is amazing - here is the link to his build. Epic detail:
  25. Cool! Thanks for posting that! I've only seen a couple - ever. There was one near me for sale - it was pretty ratted out, but it was gone in a few weeks. Once in a while, one shows up at our local cars and coffee.
