  1. *warning* I am a painfully slow builder, easily distracted by the next project My Brother-in-Law gifted me the AMT/ERTL Scout II for Christmas last year (2022). If you're familiar with the kit, it's pretty simple. But, there's no other Scout kit available to my knowledge. I was happy to get it. Right out of the gate, I knew that the very minimum thing I would do would be to fill the large gaps between the chassis and the body. In picking a color, decided to go with Tamiya's Coral Blue With a white top: I had this surf rack from some old Japanese detail set that I picked up years ago. I think this Scout is Beach Bound! I also shaved the door handles and plan to use Fireball's GM Truck handles. More to come. I hope ....
  2. Got in a little time at the bench over lunch today - a rarity. Maybe I should make a WIP for this one. I botched the glue when attaching the rack, but I think I can fix that. Ages ago, I picked up a surfboard and rack set from a Japanese manufacturer. I think the roof on the Scout is removable and probably made of fiberglass ... but this seemed as good a model as any to use the surfboard accessories on.
  3. That washer bottle! Just that one detail makes this awesome.
  4. That's a sharp looking build, and I appreciate your comments about your experience. I have this in my stash and debated on unloading it; but after seeing your build ... I think I need to build mine!
  5. So why is it that Round2's decals - when they have decals that should be "handed", they are not? The kicking bronco in this kit. The US Mail logo in the Pinto kit. etc, etc. But, nice to see what's in the box
  6. As usual, too many projects going on; but had to get started on this International Harvester Scout II. Tamiya lacquers - TS-41 Coral Blue for the body
  7. I know Kernersville! I have family in the (greater) area. A friend of mine from my college days was from Kernersville. And yes - it's hard to compete against the gadgets ....
  8. You've got some beautiful work there! And I get it - I've done the same in the past. Sold a few (or many) kits to either focus on something else or to finance some other project. But, in my experience at least, I find that often I try to replace the kits that I sold with the same or a similar kit down the road! I keep coming back to my favorite hobby - even after numerous home improvement projects, tinkering on the old car, etc., etc. I do wish my kiddo would take up the hobby, but so far she's not too interested. Maybe one day.
  9. Oh, you're not the only one who starts one and then starts another Looks like you're off to a good start on these.
  10. I had to look at these again - That Yellow Pages car! Wow!
  11. I just received mine, and WOW! Amazing detail! I agree with the above - although I'll use these with the AMT 1/25 kit. Is it possible to size them for the Revell/Monogram 1/24 kit also? I'd pick up a couple more sets in that case. Again - amazing detail. And pretty fast shipping for half way 'round the world. HIGHLY recommended
  12. Does anyone make a quality four door '57 Chevy Bel Air?
  13. Really nice start - I think it'll look great if you stick with it. I'd like to build a second one to go with mine - sort of a before and after restoration. But, I have a hard time wanting to tackle the kit again.
  14. Wow, that is a beautiful build. The blue really suits it!
  15. Nice work - it really looks "real"! I really like the technique to make the paint for the number look cracked; a great detail often overlooked.
  16. Oh, wow! These are beautiful!
  17. Another Monogram Shelby Cobra. This is from the 2004 "A" Production Champions boxing, and the tooling is starting to show its age a little around the headlights, tops of fenders, etc. Changes I made included: Using photoetched hood pins to replace the ones I lost (these don't match the hood latch downs that the kit normally includes) Seatbelts, with non-race buckles because that's what I had on-hand Right Hand Drive conversion (well, mostly - I didn't do anything underneath to properly reflect right hand steering) Tamiya Pearl White over Tamiya White Primer, followed by decanted Tamiya Pearl Cleal mixed with a tiny bit of mica green/blue. Tamiya Clear over that. All metal finishes are Alclad II, except the headlights are the kit chrome. Thanks for looking!

    Ford GT-90

So cool. I remember when this was in the car magazines. Nicely done.
  19. Wheels for all of those Cobra kits I have ... swoon. Nice!
  20. Really sharp looking - I'm glad to see the tooling for this kit has held up over the years. That Nato Black is one of my favorites for general chassis work.
  21. That looks great. Isn't the PS line of Tamiya paints designed for their R/C bodies? I really like the color - do you have to clear or anything?
  22. Nice build! Here is my only completed 3. Monogram kit, Japanese race. I'd like to build this one again.
