  1. I know that Olson Bros had some rather awesome parts for the Scout II, but with their demise (I hope things work out for him), are there other options out there? I'd really like to know if there are other grill /headlight options; similar to what Mr. Olson was planning to produce.
  2. Nice build!
  3. Really nice build! I guess I'm showing my age - but I really like the cars of this era, as compared to the newer ones. I know, I know .... things change, progress, etc., etc. Really beautiful work there!
  4. Nice! Whether 2-n-1 or 3-n-1, I'll be glad to have a chance to pick up a CJ-7
  5. It seems that August is pretty busy with everything except being at the workbench. That said, I did manage to cobble together a 2/3 split bench seat for the Scout. An AMT 1955 Chevy pickup donated it's seat to the cause. One cut and a few odd bits of styrene later, and we have the basic seat.
  6. Oh, that's nice! I have this in my stash and need to get to it
  7. Echoing what others have already said - That is a stunning build. This is the old AMT kit? Is this the same that is part of the recent Mod Rod reissue? Amazing work.
  8. With the two colors you have on this, once it's trimmed out with chrome, it'll be an eye-catcher for sure!
  9. Oh, man! This is awesome!
  10. What a beautiful build - I really like the carpet, it makes the car look real.
  11. I'm glad you guys brought this one back up - what a beautiful build!
  12. Taking a clue from Dennis Ezmerlian's beautiful Scout II build and Tom Geiger's comments, I'm going to attempt to create a more pedestrian seat for my Scout using parts scavenged from an old Chevy. But, as noted, I'm a slow builder and this will probably have to wait until tomorrow or this weekend. The seat option given in the kit is a little too "sporty" for what I have in mind.
  13. That's pretty cool! I don't know a lot about IH, so I'm kind of winging it here.
  14. *warning* I am a painfully slow builder, easily distracted by the next project My Brother-in-Law gifted me the AMT/ERTL Scout II for Christmas last year (2022). If you're familiar with the kit, it's pretty simple. But, there's no other Scout kit available to my knowledge. I was happy to get it. Right out of the gate, I knew that the very minimum thing I would do would be to fill the large gaps between the chassis and the body. In picking a color, decided to go with Tamiya's Coral Blue With a white top: I had this surf rack from some old Japanese detail set that I picked up years ago. I think this Scout is Beach Bound! I also shaved the door handles and plan to use Fireball's GM Truck handles. More to come. I hope ....
  15. Got in a little time at the bench over lunch today - a rarity. Maybe I should make a WIP for this one. I botched the glue when attaching the rack, but I think I can fix that. Ages ago, I picked up a surfboard and rack set from a Japanese manufacturer. I think the roof on the Scout is removable and probably made of fiberglass ... but this seemed as good a model as any to use the surfboard accessories on.
  16. That washer bottle! Just that one detail makes this awesome.
  17. That's a sharp looking build, and I appreciate your comments about your experience. I have this in my stash and debated on unloading it; but after seeing your build ... I think I need to build mine!
  18. So why is it that Round2's decals - when they have decals that should be "handed", they are not? The kicking bronco in this kit. The US Mail logo in the Pinto kit. etc, etc. But, nice to see what's in the box
  19. As usual, too many projects going on; but had to get started on this International Harvester Scout II. Tamiya lacquers - TS-41 Coral Blue for the body
  20. I know Kernersville! I have family in the (greater) area. A friend of mine from my college days was from Kernersville. And yes - it's hard to compete against the gadgets ....
  21. You've got some beautiful work there! And I get it - I've done the same in the past. Sold a few (or many) kits to either focus on something else or to finance some other project. But, in my experience at least, I find that often I try to replace the kits that I sold with the same or a similar kit down the road! I keep coming back to my favorite hobby - even after numerous home improvement projects, tinkering on the old car, etc., etc. I do wish my kiddo would take up the hobby, but so far she's not too interested. Maybe one day.
  22. Oh, you're not the only one who starts one and then starts another Looks like you're off to a good start on these.
  23. I had to look at these again - That Yellow Pages car! Wow!
