Now I'm glad I asked because I always did mine cold too in just the manner you describe. I noticed that only some of your bends had scorch marks on them and I couldn't figure out why. Thanx man.

I know we've past the frame fabrication point, but I've got a question. What heat source do you use for the tubing bends ?

I'm with Brett. The charger looks right, but the front of the hat looks like an air conditioning vent. Might look better painted or maybe just shave off the front and pop in some butterflies.

MY EYES !!!!!!!! Got the main engine plumbing done for the fuel lines along with the (excuse me, I hafta' do this), TOTALLY AWESOME LOOKING belt guard !!!!! Sorry, I never pat myself on the back, that's your job. But I mean really, OMG, am I happy with that ?? The metal lines are .032 and .025 solder. I ran a pin vise over the lines to give the braided look. The front of the fuel pump will get a couple of "anodized" pin heads as front covers. Thanx for lookin'......

Wowza Brett.Great job. And on the memory front, might as well get used to it. The older you get, the more you'll start to forget about something that you knew you had to finish and then you just sort of ............... I was gonna' add something else to that, but my mind wandered and then as soon

I'm diggin' every aspect of this. Git 'er did !!

Appreciate the comments. I got the belt guard installed and fuel pump built yesterday. Now the plumbing is fighting me every step of the way. I'll post pics tomorrow when that's done.

The shiny blue Fairlane is my fave. That was my second 1:1 car, minus the teardrop hood. All are gorgeous !!

The twelve days of Christmas
Nitrozilla replied to Darin Bastedo's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Time for me to catch up with a couple more. Firstly to Rommel for hanging in there and making it back. He "saved" me when I was really down on the "goings on" here at one time. Secondly to another awe inspiring builder who was also missing in action and has returned. Mr. David "Dark Side of the Moon and Psychographic Genius" Gilmour. Doesn't think out of the box, he simply redesigned the box to suit his twisted needs. More to come..... -
Hey Fellas I missed ya!

See everybody ?? Who says Model Car Forums don't get Christmas presents ?? Welcome back Sir Rommel of the Styrene !! -
Sad to say 'cuz I'm a MOPAR guy, but the Heavy Chevy is my fave. Honestly Brett, it was hard to choose. You rock.

Thanx Niko. If I forgot to mention (highly likely), it's a Competition Resins figure and it's been pretty heavily modified. First I opened the gap between the legs, then cut off the left leg to change the angle. Then the arms had to be re angled to get the hands a little higher. The left will hold the shifter and the right will hold the butterfly wheel. I'll also attach a brake and gas pedal to the appropriate feet. As for the paint, I'm gonna try some graphics for the first time. I'm scared to death at the prospect, but that should make me all the more careful.......

Thanx guys. I was beginning to wonder where everybody got off to. So anyway, I said I'd do the fuel pump today and sure enuff, I made an air scoop. FOCUS Joe, FOCUS. Same old me. If I get a picture in my brain pan, I gotta make it. It's a little crooked but that's easily fixed with a chisel and a jackhammer. Until then I thought we'd just pop the driver in, toss on the scoop and take a few pics. Who knows what tomorrow may bring ??

Surprise !! Thought I forgot y'all, right? I've been posting but that cold I got drained my sinuses along with any desire to build. I'm back in the schwing of things and want to share some small progress on the driver and fuel cells. The last thing I'll do on the figure is the helmet, so he won't look right until that's done. So far I've done the firesuit in white and the boots, gloves and face mask in silver. The helmet visor and goggles are black, with yellow lenses for the eyes. My original plan for the suit was to mask off striping for paint, then when I started putting on the tape, it looked good enuff to stay. Touch up is needed on the tape and firesuit from trimming damage and the goggle lenses need a second coat. The whole figure will get dullcote. On the fuel and oil tanks, holes have been drilled for lines and I made caps. Also got pad restraint straps on the rollcage. Next comes a scratch built fuel pump, then we'll really see some progress. Thanx for checking in. I know I said I was going to take a more laid back approach, but I didn't mean to get laid OUT.

STAR FIRE! ...( 59 Impala Flying Car) Update: 3-29-12
Nitrozilla replied to Ira's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Gotta luv it when a plan comes together, especially when you didn't know it WAS a plan to begin with !! Okay, now I'm just being lazy because I just said the same thing about your Triangula build and John's Bentley. Anybody know where I can buy a life, cheap ?? -

STYRENE WITHDRAWAL SYNDROME (S.W.S)
Nitrozilla replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
What everybody needs here is a Plan B. When the forum is down, I simply kick back, relax, take a chill pill and play Warcraft until the shakes and tremors start again. Kinda silly though to stop playing every 10 minutes to check to see if the sites back up......... I guess I could work on a model, but that's just crazy talk.
