  1. Charlie, for what it's worth, I checked my archive. When I discovered I didn't have as many pics of the Camaro as I thought, I did a Google search and was deluged with pics of that car. Far too many to post. You tried that too, right ??
  2. Somebody's up late, huh ?? More outstanding work from you and it's certainly worth the ego strokes you may receive. Um, nice job on the chutes.....
  3. Andy, that's purdy. One of my favorite all time subjects (after Jungle Jim). The airborne antics at Pomona before the Mini-Charger was scary. Yes, I'm that old. Great start on the motor too.
  4. I know, I know !! I've got the same one ready to go in the next appropriate subject. Competition Resins carries two. The one Ira used looks to be the 60's Dragster Driver Figure (CRC-222). They also carry one called Early Driver Figure (CRC-051). They are both a hair large for the 1/25 Funny Cars I've tried them in and it looks like he may have had to modify the knees to stretch out. Both are VEEEERY nice. A steal at $5.50 each, but I'm certain they'll make ya' pay for 'em. Great job Ira. I passed one of those kits up at the Lancaster, CA IPMS show today. I'm too tired to kick myself after 9 hours on the road from Vegas. True story. I helped Gary Hazen briefly when a pal of mine introduced him to me back in the late 60's. Just as he was converting from the altered Panic Rat to the Panic F/C. Blew the motor on the first pass with the Funny when the oil pump seized. As Mike Dunn would say, "The motor was not happy." Again, very nice work. Keep them coming.
  5. I know this is off topic, but my building style doesn't allow me to build anything "straight out of the box." So a friend challenged me to build a model out of the box:
  6. Thank goodness for that, 'cuz nobody's gonna believe what I plan on doing to the Charlie Allen car when I'm done with the Deora. I'll give you a hint. It needs an escape hatch..........on the left. Tony, thanx as always.
  7. Has anybody used the term "eyeboggeling" yet ?? Funny thing is, when I called the David Gilmour Fan Club to sign up, some guy named Roger Waters said he'd never heard of you.
  8. If you raised the rear end 2 scale feet and put some massive springs on top of that axle, you'd have a Custom Custom Street Rod Gasser. Think about it.....
  9. Ya' know what Wayne ?? I don't think he took me seriously..........
  10. Looks ready for putty and primer to me. So, it's 3:23 PST. Putty, 15 minutes, dry, 30 minutes, sand, 35 minutes, off the hook wild paint with possible Alclad, 1 hour and 10 minutes, room for error on time and walk dog, 30 minutes. That's 3 hours. I'll check Under Glass at 6:23.
  11. Let's see, we've got separate topics for Drag Racing, Big Scale, NASCAR's, etc. When do we get one for Sick & Twisted ?? David, there's a nice man over here I would like you to talk to and look, he's got a pretty white coat and it's just for you.
  12. Rob my friend, every time I pick up my knife this build goes in a new direction. I think we'll both be surprised when it's done. You can't believe how much your input sent it in this direction when it did. Thanx .....and you, Mr. Teresi, have been a constant source of inspiration and encouragement. I'm no speedster on building, but it'll get there. I've been checking out trailer floor plans and none of them work for a two story situation, so I'm gonna' have to wing it.
  13. Mostly putty and sanding today. Blending the back of the cab into the bed and slide rails. Still more to do. I also had to reinforce the seam between the front wheel wells. It flexed enough to crack putty twice, but not again. I also put a roof flattening piece that will act as a base for the sleeper. Final item is a new piece of styrene on the inside / front of the hauler. Now the cab and hauler crawlways match up. Got lots of ideas running around now for the living quarters, playing with bed locations, etc. Updates may be sporadic. Gotta get ready for the Victorville IPMS Desert Classic this Saturday. It's a 4 hour trek from Vegas and my best chance to hit up some vendors since I got back into this in May / June. Crawlway before w/ large opening Crawlway after
  14. This just keeps getting better and better. Each detail compliments the other and the theme is in balance with the universe. I wish I could see what's runnin' around in that brain pan of yours. Then again, I'm off the wall enough myself.......
  15. .....and here are the changes for today. Started with a small, low air dam. While I was pondering the sleeper situation, it hit me to just make a tall air dam and inside that will be the sleeper. Still trying to figure out what to do about cabinet, microwave, fridge and a bathroom of some sort. "INCREDIBLE POWER, itty bitty living space." To those who think the air dam / sleeper looks too clunky, you have my sympathies. I do too. I also got the back of the cab leveled up to the trailer, then filled it in with a panel that includes the crawlway opening. As promised, I've got some pix of the mock up. Really makes me feel like the progress has been worthwhile.
  16. Hey, no fair !! You brought in a ringer !! JUDGES ?? JUDGES !!
  17. Corvair, Corvette. Corvair, Corvette. Corvair, Corvette ?? I can't decide which I like best. I guess twin powerplants wins out over sleekness. On the other tentacle, that color changing paint.......... Heck with it Dave. You decide which one I like best and get back to me with my decision.
  18. That's a lot of work and a lot of love going into that. What a wonderful gift to give a child that will (hopefully) be a reminder of Granpa for their whole lives. I built a model for each of my 3 GrandBratz one Christmas and they were thrilled beyond belief. Of course now they want me to build for them all the time. Feel Good Modeling
  19. That explains why I'm 10 years behind everybody else. lol I never heard of an Xacto 2000. I wish I'd found it earlier, I'm thrilled I've got it now. There is so much knife work involved in this build and it made my life a lot easier. The control for pressure and angle is remarkable.
  20. I'm just hangin' out, picking up scratchbuilding tricks and techniques and waiting for details and paint. I know we're all gonna do the "Jaw Drop" thing.
  21. Virgil, I love the Mummy tape idea, but I'd use it for the seats or maybe a roll for the roof like John did on the Pancho Villa build. Whatever you decide, we're all behind you. If an actual Mummy shows up, we'll be even further behind you.
  22. I appreciate ya' Guys. I'm liking everything about this so far myself. With the possible exception of the sleeper. There's no room for anything in there. I'm either going to need to extend it or lose it. Didn't get much done today except smooth out the bed prior to putty and I'm also working on the air dam. Nothing worth even taking pictures over. Tell ya' what. Tomorrow I'll do a full mock up with wheels / interior / body / hauler and I might throw a completed model in for appearances sake. If anyone has any thoughts on the sleeper, I'm listening.
  23. This is fun stuff. Not only did I get to do a trial fit of the housing, I've got the inside track on having the housing slide back to a pivot point, then the back drops down. This will allow easy on and off loading of the car and should give us good exposure to the hot tub. the bed is getting the rail guides and the housing will have the rails. I've done a test with another model and it seems likely this will probably work. Keep your fingers crossed everybody. Tony and Brad, I think I'll sleep well tonite. One more thing. See the Xacto knife in the second picture ?? Picked it up at Big Lots with a dozen blades included in a plastic box nice enough to use as a display for something. The knife handle is the best I've ever held and changing blades is lightning quick and easy on the hands. Thought I'd pass that along. It was in the tool section for $10.00.
