  1. I did build one model out of the box, but it's not your typical soccer mom's SUV........
  2. Stick to your gunz Rob. Go BBC or go home; unless of course, you already are home.
  3. Don't blame you for saving the seat for last. That single item is gonna take this build to the level we've come to wait for and enjoy. I know you've probably got your next project lined up, but soon I would like to watch a Funny Car build in progress. I've only seen completed ones and I need all the ideas I can get. Besides, it would take you, what, a weekend?
  4. .....and now we know why models aren't getting completed.....
  5. Welcome Jerry. Best advice I can give is lay in a starting stock of Plastruct and or Evergreen plastic rod and tubing in a variety of diameters, then start cutting and bending anything to get the feel of how it works. Any number of glues from Model Master to Tenax. When it comes to shape and proportions, do searches for the 1:1 chassis' and rollcages. Finally, there's a terriffic "How To" section here as well. Trial and error coupled with practice and patience are the best learning tools.
  6. John, if I have to replace one more keyboard due to excessive mixtures of moisture and electricity, I'm gonna bill you for the next one. Get your wallet out when you post the pics with paint.
  7. Since board rules prevent my true expression; Golly Gee-Whiz Spiffy Groovy Swell Neato !!!!! Insert your preferred expletives.
  8. Too busy building during the day and slaying any Horde that get near me in Azeroth at nite. FOR THE ALLIANCE !!
  9. Yes, but only if there was a change of undergarments available at the end of the run.
  10. Gawd no !! Well, sorta...... I found it wandering the internet, so I adopted it. Every time I need a smile, he / she is there for me. Guess I oughta give it a name. One of those boy / girl unisex names like Ughhhh or Yuuuck or Woaaaaah .
  11. I am currently working on a secret project, building the nastiest kit I have EVER had the displeasure of working on. The mismatched seams are endless, nasty flash, poorest chrome I have seen in any kit. The word "fit" does not apply to over 50 % and that's just mock up prior to sub assemblies and paint. But you know what ?? Even though I have spent a week on parts clean up (6 to 7 hours a day), I refuse to let a model get the best of me. I also have this build in progress and refuse to give up on it. Bride of Deora, as in Bride of Frankenstein due to all of the modifications I've had to make and delays that I and my Followers have had to endure. Chin up !! There isn't a model that can't be salvaged in some way, shape or form. Consider it a challenge and get back on it after a reasonable cooling off time. You've already started the healing process by posting this. Hang in there. If you need help smiling, try this:
  12. Anything by: Pink Floyd Billy Joel Doobie Bros Allman Bros Genesis and / or Phil Collins David Arkenstone Moody Blues Electric Light Orchestra Allen Parsons Project Chicago Boston Emerson,Lake & Palmer Journey Peter Frampton The Police plus movie soundtracks that do not put my manliness in question: Star Trek Star Wars Lion King
  13. Bart, dang it !! Ya' beat me to the "no fabric" jab. I gotta' stop watching Big Bang Theory reruns after dinner. NOT !! Darryl, as the old DJ's say, "The hits just keep on coming." Another outlandish build, curbside or not.
  14. You have a pm, sir.
  15. You can find the results with lots of pics right here.
  16. I'm coming in late on this one, but I'm trying to turn an AMT/Ertl Challenger F/C into a silk purse from the proverbial sow's ear. Problem on this one is that they used the whole pig.
  17. It also costs more (usually) to fly out of Vegas than it costs to fly in.
  18. Tyrone, I'm betwixt and between gold and black. If no other graphics are going on that would compliment the bead lock color, go with gold. Otherwise black would look good as long as it doesn't make the rims look too small in diameter.
  19. Whenever my Deora makes me angry, I stop to see what the cool kid's are working on. You are rockin' this Dave. Aren't you glad you went with the sunroof ?? I know I am.
  20. That's a great big MAYBE Brandon. That might be where the electronics go.
  21. Batboy has been hard at it today, but not in the way that show's any progress. Raise your hand if you have worked like mad on a project that continuously goes through a metamorphosis. Yes, I am in slightly over my head, and yes, the build has taken another new direction. However, I refuse to drop this project until it is complete. Here's what's happening now. I have abandoned the sleeper idea for the time being. There's just too many things I don't like about it. Here's the biggie. The hauler is history and will be replaced with a Galaxie Limited 5th wheel trailer. This will allow me to use the Deora bed for the hot tub, a 5th wheel mount and a place to put batteries and electronics to light the interior / cab, headlights, tail lights, and trailer brake lights. I plan on building a tonneau cover that will be hinged or will slide open to access the tub and hitch. The trailer is on order and should arrive in a week or so. I also picked up a Chi-Town Hustler to become the basis for the Charlie Allen F/C chassis. This will require cutting a left side escape hatch and whatever is required to do to the front windshield to accommodate the offset motor. The tinwork will need a little modification for the air scoop, as opposed to a bare, open injector setup. So there it is for now. I won't make the same mistake I made earlier when I started the Dragula "to fill time" during the last delay. I do have to wait until I get the trailer to see if there is room in there for the electronics. That would be a better choice than the Deora bed. One more thing. Will somebody PLEASE tell me when I'm having fun ??
  22. Hi Everypeoples. Got back from Cali yesterday and I feel pretty drained. I don't travel well and a 600 mile trip can take a toll on me. It was worth it though and I'll probably do it again. I didn't expect to place due to the level of participating builds and was surprised to take two 3rd place awards. Also scored a Tommy Ivo Showboat and a Blue Max F/C. Not many car models of interest from the vendors, but being an IPMS show, that was to be expected. (That is not a slam on IPMS, that has simply been my experience.) I'll get back on the Bride of Deora as soon as I'm fully recovered.
  23. David, glad you finally owned up to your secret Pink Floyd identity. I listened to the Pulse CD all the way to and from the IPMS show in Lancaster, CA. Improving another timeless classic are we ?? You know I'm watching this with a vested interest. I'd say something cute or funny, but I don't travel well. I'll try tomorrow........
  24. Sadly John, I never got to Lion's and I've been wracking my addled old brain pan to even remember the mini-bike guy, more or less his name, from OCIR. Back in my younger days, if there was any break in the action, I'd run like a madman back down to the pits until I heard an engine fire for the next run.
  25. Now that I've had a chance to rest up from my trip, I'm really kicking myself.
