  1. Kind of ashamed of myself for not commenting more often on your build Chris, but every time I view your progress I go into a state of shock and awe. Never have I seen such attention to detail and accuracy. It's like you're building it for the Snake himself and don't want him pointing out stuff. I am truly impressed, as we all are. Take your time and get it right man while some of us (mostly me), just blast through builds so we can get to the next one.
  2. Thanx all, it does feel good to be back at it although today was all about Christmas shopping and no work. Figured I'd post a little more detail that didn't make it into the first batch. Also I needed to pick up some .025 solder because I was having a hard time shoving .032 solder into .030 beads for the fuel lines. Should have some more progress pics tomorrow.
  3. Darryl and Wayne, thanks for the info and the pics. I remember seeing them on the Mike Ashley funny cars and was hoping to find them. I took pics of the graphic on his golf cart at The Strip in Vegas a few years ago only to discover later I had my camera set up for night shooting. Came out like a weird looking negative.
  4. And of course, these:
  5. I forgot how long this has been running, so in case anybody missed them: BTW, the missing bumper and rear tire misalignment have been corrected on the Dart.
  6. Miss Tessmacher from Superman movie to Lex Luthor: "I know I'm gonna get rapped in the mouth for this but, so what?" In other words, I don't get it........
  7. You could stage your own full drag meet diorama. Only problem is, every build you've made would qualify No. 1 and it would be a 100 way tie. Where'd the Gotham City decal come from ??
  8. Happy Batzday Ed. Sorry I allowed myself to get photographed like that. That was my day to wear blue, not pink.........
  9. First there were Rat Rods, then there were Bug Rods........ A+ Concept and Execution
  10. Add me to the list of inspired people. Theme / Deal's Wheels - Theme / Skull Gear - Theme / Skull pilot - Theme / My skull explodes.
  11. Thanx folks, but I can't take credit for the use of beads and my defective cerebral cortex interferes with remembering who it was here that recommended Beadalon products. I couldn't find those, but the ones I found are Toho from Michael's. The belt guard was uber fun. What you see is the 4th attempt. It was originally going to say HEMI, but it would have required overlapping bends or soldering skills of the Gods I do not possess. As it is, a close look will show the touch up still needed for where the CA was applied. Bart, just to clarify if I erroneously implied, the Bride of Deora still gets the Charlie Allen car with the Chi-Town Hustler chassis. This was a time filler I wasn't going to start while I waited on the trailer from Dansey's Hobby. The kit is a 1/25th Challenger. Ironic it would be my biggest challenge. Darryl, can ya tell by the colors I started it just after Halloween ??
  12. Great subject Shane and a great start too. Nice job separating the spindles. Why do I keep seeing "Big John Mazmanian" on the door panels ??
  13. A few more pics......
  14. This build represents a change in philosophy for me. I've always stuck with a project to completion, no matter what. Also, as long as I've been a member of this forum, there were usually daily updates. Well, with the delays on the Bride of Deora and some stuff I have to do for Christmas intervening, I'm going to take a more laid back approach. I finally have the Galaxie 38' trailer I'll be using for the Deora which will bring the length of the pair to almost 24". Screams diorama, right ?? Having said that, I couldn't twiddle my thumbs waiting any more. Instead, I whipped out a box and started clean up and prep on what has been the single worst kit for seams and fitment. I won't mention the manufacturer because, honestly they should be ashamed of themselves for allowing this kit to ever hit the shelves. A recent contest I attended had a category for kits like this. It was for turning a sow's ear into a "Silk Purse." Some of you will know this kit, but I would just as soon let that drop and simply say that I am up to the challenge. Since I had nothing to lose I decided to turn this into a "Technique Testbed" so that I could try things I haven't done before. I started by removing the roof and filling in the body, then cut holes for the motor and cage, then added a rollcage cover ala Beach City Chevrolet style. The engine will be detailed and plumbed using glass beads for fittings. The injectors are scratch built along with a new style fuel block system. Also scratched will be the distributor, fuel pump, and a nifty little belt guard idea I got from the USA-1 F/C. Using beading wire, I made the guard frame and formed the numbers "426" to fit inside. After covering the clutch/trans assembly with paper tape I fabricated some lashing rings for the cover's straps. Competition Resins will be well represented here with their wrinkle wall slicks and driver figure. I'll cover the figure later due to the changes that are being made to it. That oughta cover it for now. Sorry for the rant early on. It's really not my style because I don't approve of "haters" and just had to get it out of my system. Now I can go on to make this model "The Best It Can Be".
  15. John, John, John. What am I gonna do with you? I ask for a Funny Car and you bring a Serious Car. Well, at least it's got a blower, I think. That is the back of the charger we're lookin at pokin' through the nose, right? It's either that or the world's loudest AAAOOOOGGGAAAHHH horns on either side of it. For real, it already looks like you'll have no end of fun making it look realistic.
  16. Wish I had thought of hinging the lid instead of the canopy on mine. Would have solved several "issues" during construction. Luvin' the silver and gold too.
  17. Luvin' yer stuff as per normal John. Keep the killer builds comin'. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving during your break. BTW, if you haven't seen it, Rom will be returning when he gets his computer back up and running. Posted here.
  18. I've got the best protection I can get for mine but I still await the day either the software or the drive let's me down. Got an external drive for back ups. It did one scheduled back up and now my security program won't give it access. Ironic, right ??
  19. For good news about Rom's present situation, go here.
  20. Just goes to show you a messed up Laptop can happen to anybody. I've been in contact with Romell and everything is fine and good with the exception of his aforementioned computer. He will be back when he gets it squared away. No mention of how long that might be, but I'm just glad we haven't lost him. With any luck, he's had time to complete the Daytona and 20 or 30 more builds. Right. Let's also remember he's got a 1:1 build going that is certainly putting a strain on the old wallet. Hurry back Rom. Nice Thanksgiving news. He convinced me to stay when I was thinking about leaving and I'm glad to have had the opportunity to return the favor. Guess this means I gotta get my happy self back to work.
  21. It's another TWISTED (LOL) build Darryl. Love the fender and everything else.
  22. That does it !! No more Raspberry pie for me........
  23. G R E A T Most impressive John. We gotta wait for the next build though ?? DANG..... It's all good. Enjoy your Holiday
  24. I've never liked quoted pictures regardless of connection speed. I've already seen them in most cases. If I missed something, I'll go back to a point in the topic where I've got to catch up anyway.
  25. There is a diorama section in the forum if you scroll down a little on the main page.
