Even though I've got too many projects going right now, I couldn't keep my hands off of this hottie!
Monogram 1/24 1941 Lincoln chassis works nicely with little modification...glued it in place to stiffen body shell, did the edge trim on passenger side so far:
Decided to go with a conventional single cowl...if the rear passengers want a dashboard, get your own car!
Rough trimmed front wheel opening, drew on some lines for the door...mine is only going to have two doors. Will probably drop cockpit sides down as shown?
Not sure if this is going to be a fixed roof coupe or a roadster yet? Running boards? Bumpers? Opinions?
Thanks again Peter, you've got some skills my friend!
Nice Seafury Dan! A splash of colorful graphics on it & you'll be in the running! But please, join us with another plane also...you can enter two!
Here's my modified P-39 fuselage so far...shaved the air intake (will be relocated), smoothed the surfaces. One more sanding & priming session & it should be ready for color.
Wow, that looks great so far Wayne!
Ooohhh, a biggin, huh Dave? I have a 1/24 Airfix P-51D that I thought about using, but where to keep such a big model once completed?
Still shaping, smoothing, filling, etc. on my P-39, update coming soon...
There is a Road Ripper toy Colorado that measures out to about 1/27 or 1/28 scale...regular cab, shortbed. I measured the wheelbase, hoping to use as a master for casting
I really don't see any problem with putting your name in your SIG line...it doesn't show up anyway unless you are a member & are signed in...lurkers can't see it!
Received mine also Pete...AWESOME!!! Great work on this, you've got some real artistic skills my friend! Paypal just sent, thank you!
BTW, if looking for a chassis for this body, I did a quick check with an old Monogram 41 Lincoln, seems like with just a little work, it's a natural for this...wheelbase & width are very close.
Yes, pre-planning is a big one on something like this...I once did an F1 car that required the same...cockpit in before smoothing seams! Not sure yet on paint, maybe polished aluminum, or a bright eye-catching color.
No guns? What fun is that?
Hey all, I can sign off the airworthiness on these when finished, I'm an A&P mechanic!
Very cool so far Lee!
I got started on my P-39...what a nice little kit! Lots of mods coming, getting the fuselage halves ready to join by building the cockpit & installing...it's supposed to go in almost last, but I want this thing smooooth & slippery! So in it goes now, then on with the mods!
Just to get an idea of what she looks like in stock form...won't be this way for long!
