I couldn't agree more with Jason. Though I'm 16 and I'm trying to learn those Stock Eliminator tips and tricks. Someone said about the seperate Feedback Section. I think that would be the death for Under Glass, since at least I want honest opinions from my builds that I post. Then I can do better job next time (Or at least try to do). I'm happy to get Constructive criticism because that is the way you learn. Of course compliments and good comments are nice to hear, too. And I bet that I'm not the only one who does this. And if I'm building something, and the first time is not a success, then I start all over again so many times that I'm satisfied with it.

69 Dodge Daytona Platinum with red interior
W-409 replied to KevinMoparFord's topic in WIP: Model Cars
This looks really good to me! Interior makes me want to jump on the drivers' seat. Those seats don't look like plastic at all, to me they look like they are real leather (Or whatever "Soft" material is used on the upholstery). Incredible detailing on the engine also, and you nailed the color choice. I'll be watching this one closely. -
Christer Lidberg's Roadrunner. Uffe Edwardsson's Challenger.. Daniel Nyling drove this Chevy Nova in 2009. Very nice car. Can't remember the driver for this Fairlane. Two SS/AH Hemi Barracudas Side By Side. Timo Eronen's Barracuda was posted here earlier, but on the Left Lane you can see Anders Holmberg's Barracuda, if I remember his name correct.

Thanks Larry. Yeah I thought that some of you guys might not know that there is Drag Racing in Finland too, that's why I decided to start this thread. Now I will post some non-Finnish Drag Cars in here that I have seen Racing in Finland. Let's start with Stockers & Super Stockers. This D/S Fairlane was driven by Lars Nyberg this year, but I can remember that Lars Boden has been driving it also... These guys come from Sweden. Then Rick McCann who comes from London, England with this Super Stock Camaro. He does huge wheelstands. Hans Nilsson with this Super Stock Chevelle. Very nice car, also from Sweden. Then Björn Bondesson with this B/SA Chevelle. He is from Sweden too. Per Fageström's '69 Camaro comes from Sweden too. Daniel Nyling who bought the car that Jarmo Markkanen drove here in Finland for 19 years, another Swedish guy. And Pelle Andersson's Nova. Thomas Sundström's Mustang. Håkan Nordström's Plymouth Cuda. This runs very, very nicely, and he is usually the Number one Qualifier.

'77 Chevrolet Van.
W-409 replied to W-409's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Thanks guys! Yeah Cragars would have been nice also, especially the 5 spoke ones. But those aren't bad either I think, or actually, I even like them. Gotta check the Sammy Johns out, never heard of him. -
For the engine, I'd possibly go with the 427 from AMT Fairlane. But I hope that you will keep this with 15" tires and wheels, big wheels and low profile tires turn nice car into ugly one IMO. Personally I'd go with very high profile tires and 15" body colored Steel Wheels and Dog Dish Hubcaps and high stance. That would be really nice looking car. Nice start you have there!

'41 Plymouth Gasser, gluebomb rebuild
W-409 replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
This is looking like a good start! '41 Plymouth is great basis for Drag Race projects, and especially when built as a Gasser. This makes me to continue my '41 Plymouth G/G with Hilborn Injected Ford Flathead. -
Thanks Danno! Here are the decals on place. They were really easy to install, only a little Micro Sol was needed, the decals were really thin and very nice, even if I was bit afraid of installing them (As I always am when trying to install bigger decal than those little badges or cauges ). This is now the current stage where I am at. Now I should have the body clear coated in a couple of days, since those decals has been drying over a month now.

Congratulations, you managed to get this kit together so that the end result looks gorgeous! I remember when I was building this kit too, there were only a couple of parts that were fitting as they should. Absolutely a horrible kit in my opinion. But your build looks excellent, great work with the paint and assembly over all. Nice work.

I think no one has asked that yet, or if someone has, then I must have forgotten that too. It was a couple of years ago when Top Fuelers started to run 1000FT instead of the regular 1320. Though there are only a couple of Nitro Funny Cars here in Europe, and they don't drive on every race. Though it looks like they are getting more popular all the time. And now let's post all Finnish Top Fuel Dragsters. Last year on the European Championship, Finnish TF Drivers took all places from 1 to 6. None of these pictures are mine, usually I take videos of these things. First Risto Poutiainen who started driving Top Fuel Dragsters in 1991. He drove a few years then and had a little break of racing. In 2009 he was back on track and he has placed 2nd on European Championship three times, in 2009, 2010 and 2011, and 2012 he won the European Championship. This happened at Alastaro Nitro Nationals 2010. Stig Neergard & Risto Poutiainen crashed very badly. Both cars ended to the center line after finishing line and Stig pulled the chute straight on Risto's eyes and the cars hit each others. Poutiainen's car destroyed completely, and yes, it was brand new car. Stig's car didn't damage that bad. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZ9Auv5Aiyw This happened on Friday, at the second qualification round. Since there are four in total, Poutiainen's team started building a new car. Their times were disqualified, but after working the whole night and next day with help and parts from other teams, they were ready for the last Qualifying Round as the only guy that is out from the ladder. But Risto ran very nicely on that round taking the # 1 Qualifying Spot with the new car they had just built. On the Eliminations Risto ran to the Finals where Timo Lehtimäki beat him. The win marginal was a couple of thousands of a second. This is the Final Round. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xuJ2Gbzl7W0 Then Timo Lehtimäki. Another fast TF Driver and this car is pretty consistant too. Anita Mäkelä. The only woman who has won the European Championship in Top Fuel. She started driving Competition class already in the '80s. Then Jari Halinen. "Jari started his drag racing career in 1984. Since then he has won several Finnish Chamionships, a nordic Championship, and run numerous records. Jari has driven dragsters and altereds in Competition class, and also Top Methanol Dragster before moving to Top Fuel in 2007." Then Antti Horto. "He started his race career in Junior Dragster in 1996. After some successful years he gained his Super Comp license in 2001, and won the Finish Championship the same year. In 2002 he took his Competiton Dragster license and competed in both B/D Dragster, where he finished no1, and Super Comp were he finished in third place." 2011 He drove Top Fuel license and this year he is the current leader in European Championships. And last - but not least, Janne Ahonen who has been Racing since 2003-2006 in Competition Eliminator, and 2006 he moved to Top Fuel Dragster.

Nice build of quite rarely seen kit. These cars are really nice, I need to build one some day. Your paint work is incredible, so shiny and smooth, just like brand new 1:1 scale car. Overall very nice build, and great story too. Those are always neat to read.

This looks like a great build. I'll be watching for sure, another Traditional build from your bench. Engine choice is perfect and it looks really stylish overall.

Thanks guys for the kind words, I appreciate them! And thanks for the tip, Rob! I will do some test fitting before painting, thanks for sharing that info, it isn't nice when glass parts fell apart when trying to do Final Assembly. I've done that too many times, but now I know to check that before gluing anything. Today I was able to start detailing the carburetors. First time ever using Photo Etch parts and I was really surprised that how tiny they are. However I managed to get them installed somehow, not the best work but decent for first try I guess. Fuel Lines have been installed also.

AZN FarmTruck
W-409 replied to RodneyBad's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
This is cool! Just my style, I will be watching this one very closely. I've watched those Farm Truck videos on YouTube many, many times. Those steel wheels fit perfectly to the look of this car. I'm tuned in. -
Jimmy Pardue Plymouth
W-409 replied to Silver Foxx's topic in WIP: Stock Cars (NASCAR, Super Stock, Late Model, etc.)
Very nice Belvedere of the Golden Era of Stock Cars! All work you did really paid off, this build looks spectacular. Nice paint and decal work. Whose decals are those? Now let's go Racing. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=67211 . -
When Revell's '50 Oldsmobile kit came out, I knew right away that I will need more than one of these. Well last week I went on Local Hobby Shop to pick two Revell paint bottles, Flat Black and Brown for the dash of my '77 Chevy Van project. But I saw this kit sitting on the shelf and when it wasn't expensive, I just couldn't pass it. I have always thought that these late '40s and early '50s Oldsmobiles are very nice cars, and great starting points for Customizing. My plan for this one is to build a Mild Custom. I think Oldsmobile nailed the body lines on this one so there will be only minor body modifications done. I thought about doing a little Top Chop, but actually it doesn't need any chopping...Maybe for another one then? Basically the modifications I will do on the body are removing some emblems and other chrome trims. Chassis will be lowered and I will use Steelies with kit's Pad Printed WhiteWall tires. Here are some pictures of the first Mock Up I did. Only thing that needs modifying on the frame/floor is that I have to sand a little groove on the frame crossover to fit that rear axle on place. The Floor & Frame fit really nicely to the body. This sure is a nice kit. The engine is that Olds Rocket that comes with the kit. I will only add Two Carburetor Intake from my parts box. I found no fit issues so far from the engine. Also I drilled holes on the Valve Covers for Spark Plug Wires. Not the best picture, but you'll get the idea. And here is some more work with the engine. I installed Spark Plug Wires on place. Luckily the distributor was big enough to drill nine holes there. Yes, I still need to add the wire for Ignition Coil. Carburetors are cut off from old Ford Flathead intake manifold and they were painted with Silver. Air Cleaners are from Revell's '58 Chevy Impala. Tomorrow is time to make some Carburetor Linkages and Fuel Lines...Stay Tuned.

Dealing in Box art?
W-409 replied to Jeremy Jon's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have never bought an empty boxes or anything like that. But I know that some people do so, especially those who have lots of old models that are bought as assembled models and they are not in original boxes. A friend of mine wanted one box I had, because he said that it's simply easier to find the model you are looking for when it's in its own box. Usually when I finish a build, I try to keep the box and instructions, if I have space for them. Usually I move some bought Glue Bombs into them if they have been in some other type of box. This is just because of I've heard Dad complaining it too many times that he has thrown those Jo-Han boxes away back in the day when they were just as common kits as Revell's new kits nowadays. But of course, some boxes end up to trash can, if there just is not enough room for them. -
Thanks Danno! There are many cars in Finland for sure, and luckily racing is alive. There are two Top Methanol Dragsters in Finland. First one is driven by Marko Leivo and this is Arto Höylä's old car that has a Personal Best of 5,7 Seconds if I remember correct. And Esko Raisvuo who has that A/Fuel Dragster. Best ET is around 5,6 if I remember correct. Not my picture.

That paint work is incredible, as always in your builds. It looks like glass, very nice shine and completely smooth too. Great job, I really like this one. Nice work in the engine bay also.

'77 Chevrolet Van.
W-409 replied to W-409's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Thanks guys for the kind comments! I appreciate them a lot. I really like how this one turned out, too. Except polishing, it was a lot of fun to build, but I've never liked polishing and this body had lots of smooth surfaces to polish. But it turned out okay. -
Yeah you are right, American Cars are quite popular in here. On the local Cruising Nights there can be over 200 cars. Our family has three cars, and all of them are American. Yep, West Coast Street Cup is basically for street cars, though there is a class called ET Bracket too, and many times there are real race cars also. WCSC is driven on Airports, but those races sure are a lot of fun. East Coast, no in the East, there is Russia.

Heh that's true. It's actually my father's car, but I have driven it a couple of times...Really neat car, and it has been on our family since 1987 when it arrived to Finland from Texas.

Thanks for the info & pictures Dave! I've seen pictures of that car, but can't remember whose car it was before Victor bought it. Very nice car and I'm sure it runs very good. Here are two Finnish Top Methanol Funny Car drivers. First Johnny Oksa who is driving his dad's (Jarmo Kuutniemi's) car. Jarmo passed away because of health issues, and this car needed to get back on the strip. So Jarmo's son Johnny drove the license and he has been racing with the car this season very nicely, especially when he has no experience of Drag Racing before stepping into TMFC. And then Ari Pietilä who has another Jarmo Kuutniemi's car. This is the car that Jarmo drove before buying that Dodge Charger. It was a Chevy Camaro then, but Pietilä's team turned it into Dodge Intrepid.

Thanks guys. Regarding to Tom's question, I have to say that I don't know. The reference that I've found is very minimal, so it's hard to say anything. That's why I'm keeping this pretty basic Box Stock Model with just some added details. It was time to put BMF on the body. Man there are a lot of Chrome trims that need to be Foiled. But I think it turned out okay. After the Hudson and this, there is not much left of my BMF sheet.
